Yet another book that does not work, to go with Tasha's, which still has chunks that are broken. Is there a reason you guys don't just enlarge your programming team so you can actually implement the rules the books provide? I mean how is "go homebrew it yourself" really an acceptable statement for a purchased product? How is "we hope to get this working by the end of the year" an answer your paying customers should live with? Why do you think it's ok to sell broken products?
It is obvious that the new books have features that do not fit within your existing code framework, and that you have to overhaul the structure itself. You've pretty much been saying that for the last six months. But nothing ever get finished, and more broken books keep piling up. At this point it feels like it's just becoming a Ponzi scheme where new book buyers pay for the coding team to fix old issues, never actually getting caught up.
Should a dev not want to respond to this, fine. But please, other community members, please don't do the usual "They're trying as hard as they can", "They just need more time", or "You don't understand how coding projects work" responses. I'm not looking for you to come to their defense. Let them speak for themselves or choose to remain silent.
1. ISSUE - stacking Ability Scores. We are aware that our current implementation of swapping ASI (Ability Score Increases) doesn't enforce the restriction that each ASI cannot be places in an Ability Score that already has an increase (see quoted rule below). We are planning to work on addressing this.
2. ARMORER - Armor Modifications. We don't yet have a system to allow the separate infusion of individual armor pieces.
3. Circle of Stars - Star Map. This should grant a number of uses equal to your proficiency bonus. We don't currently have the facility to implement this within our tools. This is on the list for development.
4. Fighting Style - Superior Technique. Not functional. We don't currently have a sensible way of implementing the selection of maneuvers that wouldn't cause characters to become broken in the future. We're working on a solution for this known issue.
5. Fighting Style - Thrown Weapon Fighting. Displays information on the character sheet, but does not automatically increase damage on throwing weapons. If you take this fighting style for a character, please use the character sheet and select valid weapons, customizing them to add the +2 damage. We are working on a solution for this known issue.
6. Aberrant Mind - Psionic Spells. We don't currently have a method to allow swapping these spells out. We are looking at solutions for this. "Whenever you gain a sorcerer level, you can replace one spell you gained from this feature with another spell of the same level. The new spell must be a divination or an enchantment spell from the sorcerer, warlock, or wizard spell list."
7. Clockwork Soul - Clockwork Spell. See Psionic Spells above.
8. OPTIONAL SPELLS. Gate & Weird spells are not showing as being available for the Mystic Arcanum features.
9. THE GENIE - Mystic Arcanum. Wish is not available for the Mystic Arcanum feature.
10. FATHOMLESS - Tentacle of the Deeps. If the attack is set to display for this feature it incorrectly adds your characters CHA bonus to the damage roll.
11. Telekinetic - we don't currently have a way to grant extra range to the mage hand cantrip.
12. Group Patrons - The Group Patrons presented in chapter 2, give a great way of adding flavor to an adventuring party, as well as some interesting opportunities and features. Any benefits gained from a Group Patron can be tracked in the notes section of the character sheet, or the DM can make notes on the campaign page to detail the patron and any information the players may need. Also note that we do have plans for the future, to build a more comprehensive system to handle campaigns, including group patronage.
13. Sidekicks -We don't currently have feature support for the sidekicks rules, as presented in Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything. We will be building a proper system to handle sidekicks in a flexible manner.
14. Scaling Statblocks - Several of the new features and spells present Monster Statblocks which scale with your character. This includes spells that summon other creatures. The system to handle these creatures is still under development but we have included inline stat blocks wherever possible to help you reference the stats you need.

You should move this to D&D Beyond Feedback because they will probably take it down here but I'm in full agreement.
Under Dark Gifts --> Second Skin --> Transformation : "When you do so, you gain the effects of that spell’s Change Appearance option"... Where are the effects? There is no chart or text entry describing the effects of each transformation.
Thank you, and I understand that. If that is the case, however, this "Dark Gift" equates to... You get alter self, but can only use 1 of 6 specific forms, and when you do, you will continue to be easily recognizable long after, until you rest. Oh yeah, you can be force changed, as well. Compared to the rest of the dark gifts, this seems incredibly underpowered. If, however, there were "Effects" for each of the 6 limited forms, perhaps it could be brought up to par with the others.
I’m having a multi-pronged problem attempting to create a character using the new book.
1. Lineages do not appear during character creation UNLESS I filter down to Van Richten’s.
2. Custom Lineages and Choosing Origins is broken
I get the following error:
“You currently have no available custom origins for this character. Unlock all official options in the Marketplace or create them for Homebrew Races.“
But what else is there to buy? I have bought everything.

This has nothing to do with Beyond. That specific Dark Gift is just underwhelming, beyond can do nothing about that.
I have followed their guidance to check my entitlements and read through the thread trying to find a similar situation. The issue is not so much that it is not appearing as it is only appearing if I filter to it.

Dev's won't reply to this, as it has already been answered in this thread.

For the first point: Are you looking in the right place? All three of the lineages appear under Lineages in the race page, like so:
If you're not seeing this, try clearing your cache, and if that doesn't work, log out and back in.
For your second point: Lineages will not interact with the Custom Origin options, with one minor possible exception (Languages). Custom Origin allows for swapping proficiencies and ability scores, which the Lineages from VRGtR already allow you to choose freely. Being able to swap one fully customizable choice of ASI or skill proficiency for... the same thing. The intent to lock Lineages to a choice of Common + one other language, rather than freely offer two choices, is perhaps the only questionable interaction here.

Thanks, and you're more than likely correct. I was simply wondering if, since the mechanics of Alter Self had been changed by this dark gift ("When you show this side of yourself, you might become another person entirely, a celestial-like avenger, or a walking nightmare.") and then allows "An angelic, a demonic, or an aberrant form", "A vaguely human-shaped creature made of slime", and "A body constructed of metal, stone, or machinery", among others, the logical connection I made was: You become your other self. While in this form, you can do (insert thing here).
I was thinking something like this, for instance: "A vaguely human-shaped creature made of slime": you can move through a space as narrow as 1 inch wide without squeezing. "A body constructed of metal, stone, or machinery": your movement speed is reduced by 5 and you gain resistance to non-magical piercing and slashing damage.
Since the gift was so limiting, and also stretched the limits of Alter Self, I just made the assumption that something had been omitted. <shrug> Guess I was wrong.
How do I add the new Background Features to the character sheet?
Lol.... Dndbeyond doesn't include all features from new books - They only say they do then hope nobody notices when they skip half of it. They're all about selling virtual dice now.
I don't have the physical book yet; it arrives in two more days, but I have the digital version here on D&D beyond. I wanted to inform you of a typo I found:
In the Horror Character Bonds section, #9 in the d12 list is written, "I'm desperately seeking a cure to an affliction or a curse, either for someone close to me for myself."
It should be written, "I'm desperately seeking a cure to an affliction or a curse, either for someone close to me or myself."
or

I do not know if this typo is in the physical book as well since I do not have my copy of it yet.

Agreed. And the lack of response from DndBeyond isn’t exactly reassuring.
Also, what stuff from Tasha’s is still broken?

I purchased the pre-order of ravenloft. I can view the book on the website but can't even find it on mobile.
EDIT: after installing the mobile update the material was available to view

As a short term solution, can dark gifts be added as feats so we can at least get them on the character sheets?

or
"I'm desperately seeking a cure to an affliction or a curse, either for someone close to me or for myself."
I do not know if this typo is in the physical book as well since I do not have my copy of it yet.
So is there an estimated time of when the character sheet update will be completed or is it just "within the year"?
They never give ETAs. The fact that they said “within the year” is noteworthy as it is extremely rare for them to come this close to an eta.
