For whatever reason dice rolling is not working for me anymore. Every time I try to reenable it for the character sheet it switches off after I reload the page. What is going on? Did ya'll change the way dice rolling works?
Also, when I press the dice roll indicators nothing happens. No dice roll.
They are working on the big update they announced a while back. As I understand it, part of what that will include giving the character sheet framework the patch(es) that would enable it to collect multiple, disparate Modifiers that grant dice to a roll and feed them all to the Dice Roller at the same time so that it will know to roll them all together.* That may, might, possibly be, at least part of what is happening. The lights might just be flickering a little while they’re jackhammering away just on the other side of the Character Sheet. (Maybe, possibly, might…. 🤷♂️)
However (due diligence and all)…. Are you perchance running any ad/popup blockers, browser extensions (like Beyond20), or a VPN? Any of those might be interfering with DDB. If you are, turn them all off and see if it clears your issue. If so, turn them all on individually to determine which of them is the culprit.
*(For example, it would let us just hit the one button to roll damage with a Flame TongueDouble-Bladed Scimitar and it would actually roll the 2d4 slashing and the 2d6 fire damage all at the same time; or rolling damage for Chaos Bolt at whichever level it gets cast and it would automatically add the correct number of d6 to the base 2d8 it only rolls currently.)
You poor, poor dear…. I don’t think even Microsoft forces their employees to use Edge.
I’m not judging or anything, everybody’s got something. But using Edge…? There’s folks out there who classify razor blades as “intimacy aids,” and even they think Edge is too painful to get into.
Is it a religious thing, like self flagellation or something? Or does it just feel that good when you stop? Help me understand.
Okay, all jokes aside, have you tried a different browser to see if it works there?
Yes, any ad/popup blockers, browser extensions of any type, or VPNs might interfere with DDB. Try disabling all of them and see if it clears up. If it does, try turning them back on individually and checking in between to discover which one is the culprit.
I use edge because it's basically the same as chrome (they're both built on chromium) but hogs less RAM.
I noticed it stopped working Tuesday. The last time I was on DDB before this Tuesday (14/10) was Friday (9/10) and it was working fine then.
Once again, I'm not using any web extensions. And can confirm its not working on chrome either. I even cleared my cache and cookies and it had no effect.
Also, I can confirm that this bug affects all my character sheets and even the encounter builder.
I would like to add my own bit of information, since this seems to be the most recent thread for it and my hardware acceleration is enabled. Only some of the dice are not working in my experience. This is after clearing my cache and history, and after doing a hard reload. The following were not working on the site:
Pigment: Brown, purple
Metal: Bronze, copper, damascus steel, electrum, gold, iron
When I would left-click the roll, nothing would happen. When I would right click and choose from the options there, I could navigate those options until I clicked the roll, but no dice were rolled. All other dice are working (I have them all).
Additionally, the app also has this same issue with the metal silver only.
This may be a related issue to character/user portraits disappearing. I tested all of the above sets of dice, and was only unable to roll the brown pigment set and damascus steel metal set. I was still able to roll them in an Incognito browsing session. So I cleared site cookies for D&D Beyond and did a hard refresh on the character page, and I'm now able to roll all sets again!

Oh okay. Good to know. We we're playing a session tonight and things weren't working so I started getting worried.
Oh well, hope its fixed by our next session.
Anyway. I am not using a VPN or any browser extensions outside of Honey. I tried disabling it and it didn't help, so its probably just a bug on DDB.
Edit: Can confirm its still working on mobile so it might be a website thing only? IDK. I'm using MS Edge by the way.

When did your dice stop? I noticed the same thing a week ago, maybe two?
I have the same problem, on Android. I've tried two different browsers (neither of them Edge) and both have worked until recently.
Re: pop up blocker, I feel that (or something like it) might be the culprit.

I use the metal dice. Specifically the silver one.
I thought it might have something to do with the dice as well, but alas none of my dice sets work.
Okay. The folks over on the DDB Discord helped me fix this.
Apparently hardware acceleration has to be enabled on your browser otherwise dice rolling will not work.
I guess this thread can be closed now.
