Confused: I have access to the new Player Handbook, but can't seem to see all the backgrounds in the Character Builder. I only see Acolyte, Criminal, Sage and Soldier. Anyone else? (I'm trying to find the Guide background).
Came here to say the same thing. Same with Species. Was trying to create a druid but couldn't find the species or background I wanted. I like the new backgrounds. They're now consistent and add a lot of abilities and flavor.
Initially I thought it was because I was using a shared PHB2024 so I bought it. Same thing.
Hey, so was the same for me, I was using a shared version. In the end I bought it and it took some time to sync, and then the background appeared! Hope it's synced for you too by now!
seems to work now. Probably just a general update and I could have saved myself the thirty bucks. But it’s always good to have your own copy of the PHB. Now I can see how a halfling farmer Druid looks in the new rules.
Using the Homebrew tool to add a Weapon Mastery Property to a Weapon that doesn't have one is not working. There is no change on the character sheet, or on the weapon itself.
CONTEXT: I was making a Magic Revolver for 1 of my players, noticed it doesn't have a Weapon Mastery. Saw that there is a Modifier to ADD a Weapon Mastery in the homebrew tool. Added "Vex (Pistol)" to the weapon. But on their character sheet the weapon is not showing the "Vex (Pistol)" or any Mastery for that matter. Despite them having picked Pistols for their Mastery, AND me adding Vex (Pistol), to it properties through the Homebrew Tool.
Figure it's not working yet, and the Devs might want to know its not working.

[BUG][2024] Ritual Caster Feat does not add spells to Character Sheet
Expected Behavior: Once feat selection is made, and all X spells are selected the spells should be added to the character sheet to be cast at will or as rituals.
Bug: While the feat and spell selections show properly in both the character editor and under Features & Traits the spells are not added to the character sheet and there is no way to "cast" them. Additionally, while under Features & Traits there is no tick box for Quick Ritual to make usage of the feat feature easily tracked.
You can't add a Homebrew spell (schools of Illusion or Necromancy) using the Shadow-Touched feat, even if Homebrew is toggled on and the spells are properly 2024 tagged.
I imagine it's the same thing for similar spells like Fey-Touched or Magic Initiate, although I haven't checked.
Bug Report Regarding 2024 Bard Magical Secrets: Updated homebrew spells that are not already on the Bard spell list are not added to their spell list when they reach level 10 and gain the Magical Secrets feature. For example, a level 6 homebrew Cleric exclusive spell is not able to be prepared by a level 11 Bard. A homebrew spell that is already on the Bard spell list appears as normal.
I am a Master tier subscriber with the pre-order bonus. I can see the 2024 PHB, but don't have the book options available to me in the character builder. I only have the free 2024 content available in the character builder. I do have the legacy content, just not for example the druid or monk from 2024.
I'm having the same issue. I have de-selected all optional content in the Character Builder, but when I proceed I only have access to the free 2024 content. I have purchased the 2024 PHB and can access the content through the Sources menu, just not in the Character Builder.

Are the homebrew spells for the 2014 Cleric spell list or 2024? I remember reading that homebrew will need to be recreated for the new rules. The latest change log also states that they will be releasing a Homebrew Guide.

They are all new spells for 2024 – I've recreated them from scratch (not just editing the previously existing homebrew spell). I see other homebrew 2024 spells that are on the Bard spell list on my 2024 Bard character sheet, but I don't see homebrew 2024 spells that are not on the Bard spell list (e.g. homebrew Cleric spells) when I should do through Magical Secrets. Apologies if I was confusing in my original post :)
When you play D&D with the 2024 Player's Handbook, it replaces all rules, classes, subclasses, spells, feats, equipment, species, and backgrounds in the 2014 version of the book.
Backwards compatibility applies to the ability to play characters from the new rules alongside the 2014 characters. But you don't mix-and-match features from the two rulesets on the same character.
2024 Ranger cannot mechanically select a fighting style feat
Confirmed.
In Character Builder at 2nd Level for the 2024 Ranger class under the Class tab, D&DBeyond software shows the entry "Fighting Style". Expanding that entry shows a dropdown with the default selection of "- Choose a Level 2 Option -". Left-clicking that displays a dropdown menu list with two selectable options, "Druidic Warrior" and "Fighting Style feat". Selecting the "Fighting Style feat" option causes the display of the text "You gain a Fighting Style feat of your choice." but no additional dropdown menu field for selecting feats is displayed.
Additional info: On the Character Sheet looking at "Class Traits" for the Ranger class under the Features & Traits section, "Fighting Style free rules, pg.120" and "Fighting Style feat" is listed but no specific feat is because no specific feat was able to be selected.

Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters? provide feedback here!

The Warlock's Devil's Sight EI doesn't automatically change your darkvision to 120 feet.
Pistol is missing Firearm tag, it only has Ammunition(Firearms) so being proficient in firearms doesnt count for pistol proficiency.
It's not the same as Darkvision (it's better). I hope they simply add it as Devil's Sight 120 feet. Either way, I hope they add something soon.
Life Cleric: Not all the 1st level always prepared spells appear. Aid is not listed as always prepared.

The Spell Preparation by Class table in the D&D Free Rules (2024) still only list the Cleric and the Wizard, instead of all eight spellcaster classes like it does in the Player's Handbook (2024).

Has there been any follow up on this?
Have you resynced entitlements yet?
