Choose two Evocation spells from the Wizard spell list, each of which must be no higher than level 2, and add them to your spellbook for free.
In addition, whenever you gain access to a new level of spell slots in this class, you can add one Evocation spell from the Wizard spell list to your spellbook for free.
Which implies to me that these are not "automatically prepared". However the character sheet I am building as a test shows these as available to cast. I added Scorching Ray for example, and it shows up on the sheet before I prepare any spells. It is not just in my spellbook. Note that it doesn't show as prepared in the spellbook either. I get an entry in my spells section of my character - tagged "Evocation Savant". If I then prepare the spell, another entry with the same spell shows up and is tagged "Wizard". Note that both entries have a CAST button, using either button expends a spell slot as expected.
So is the intent to allow the Wizard to NOT have to prepare these extra spells or not? If not the tooling is mangling the job and implying otherwise.
All the Savant abilities are bugged this way. The best way to deal with it on the player side is to simply add the spells to your spellbook and not fill in the dropdowns. It doesn't give more dropdowns for each level anyway.
In 2e and 3e, wizards could choose to specialize, gaining the benefit of a bonus spell slot per spell level that could only be used to prepare a spell from their specialty school. Maybe this was intended in the new 2024 rules? One could hope...

No. It's bugged and arguably shouldn't be there, anyway. Just totally ignore the savant feature that shows up in the character builder and choose two extra spells for your spellbook.
Yeah I'm seeing this same bug, hopefully it gets fixed soon, makes it hard especially for new players, when I have to explain how they need to work around the buggy system.
Currently the Wizard "Savant" subclass features instead prepare the spells they're supposed to add, for free. And do not add the spells to the spell book. They should instead add the selected spells to the spell book, and not be presented as free to cast spells on the character sheet.
The feature "Evocation Savant" states:

I second this. Those of us who play wizards need clarification on this ASAP.
I can see this also, definitely a bug
See it. Bothered by it. ;)
Not just Evocation Savant, also Illusion Savant.
