When creating characters with the new 2024 information (I have the new PHB in digital and hardcopy), I noticed that for Step 3, in the Languages section at the bottom, Tieflings are not listed, even though they were a part of the 10 Species that were updated.
Granted, I know that Tieflings know Common, but it's strange that I cannot select Infernal or Abyssal for languages that a Tiefling might know:
Was this omission done on purpose, or will these languages be added as selections in the future?
Figured I'd follow up... I know that not all Tieflings might be exposed to these languages, but the fact that some might be, and the languages are not available for selection is my concern.
Both of the Infernal and Abyssal languages are listed in the Rare Languages section of the PHB, so I guess that is why they are not available when picking a language for your character during creation.
The fact that the basic Tiefling Description states that they could be born in the Lower Planes, and also the Infernal Legacy specifically stating that they are connected to the "Nine Hells and the raging battlefields of Acheron" should be enough to be able to access these two languages. Even if DDB was somehow limited and restricted so that only Tieflings could select those languages, that would make sense, but not having the ability during character creation is a bit limiting.
Now, with that said, for players that are a bit more used to working with the D&D Beyond system, there is always the option of manually adding a language that your character would know, as long as your DM is okay with it (not sure why they would not be).
Cheers!

Greetings D&D Beyond,

Let me know :)
