I am playing in multiple campaigns. How do you turn off the new rules? I have neen playing one character for 5 years! That character isn't switching to the new rules. I just looked at that character sheet and dnd beyond has switched to the new rules set. How do I keep character sheets to the 2014 handbook rules?
I'm surprised no one has answered this question unless it's more involved. Click on "Manage" next to your character name. A side window should pop up or it will take you directly to the character editor. If the side window appears, select "Manage character & levels". The site will probably drop you on the "Class" page, so you'll have to click on "Home". Toggle off the "Expanded rules".
Ive tried the toggle for the expanded rules and the 2024 rules set and terminology still overrides my 2014 content. Dndbeyond was literally unusable at the table tonight. If this is what this site has become it will be necessary to switch back to paper character sheets...
Agreed. There appears to be no way to remove 2024 content. I have 2 tickets in for this that have gone unanswered. I might just return my 2024 digital books or tell them to just remove them. Unfortunately the 5e compatibility was not entirely accurate and in addition, having duplicate spells and items is just plain annoying!!!
there is actually no way to turn off 2024, beyond said often that you will get them rules reguardless of what you want or not. basically as soon as you bought the books, you got the new rules.
even if you put all toggles to off, the 2024 rules will still be there. honestly, WotC said soemthing, beyond said the inverse of that. i think there is a clear lack of conversation between between both sides. because beyond just think they have to brute force 2024 on us which is not what WotC wants.

I get that this is what they want, but I don't think they understand the lengths nerds like us will go to get what we want. I would totally stay if they give me option to do both. I want to use 2024. But i have campaigns that don't use it yet and won't be changing over until the campaign concludes. If they want me to leave and use something else, so be it.
Yeah. this is unfortunate. My group has 7 people using DND beyond. Had.... This is bull s*** that we cant finish our campaign we are currently in. I just leveled and got to level 8 and I cant put 2 points into DEX on my character. Not to mention Its forcing me to choose a feat that doesn't exist in my current campaign. Also, my character is screwed because I edited it. Its sad That my first game after 2024 came out and I regret spending over 200$ on the expansion digital and physical. Thank Wizards. I will be cancelling this subscription... I cant use the damn account now. I'm so frigging agree right now. Remember Crawford saying in those interviews that we can still play our old campaigns. Guess he didn't see this coming.
Unfortunately, you may have to make a new account or have someone else in your group by the 2014 editions of the books and then transfer everyone over to that person's campaign. There has to be at least a couple of nerd lawyers in the world who can sue over something like this...

You ARE aware the entire site is updated to new definitions, right? The definitions are the issue for people trying to play 2014 rules at this point (which aren't rollable things, still able to be referenced in the Basic Rules (2014) document, but it's a little more work). But all the old rollables still work within the sheets (bugs like the Monk die excluded, that can be custom actioned but still needs fixing), and 2014 classes can still interact with every subclass, spell, feat, etc. as expected.
Creo: "How do I keep character sheets to the 2014 handbook rules?"
There doesn't look to be any way to do this, Creo. I want to level up (tonight, actually) to something that no longer exists in 2024 and so which can no longer be accessed in D&DBeyond, despite having purchased the relevent sources for 2014 (which we are continuing to play until the end of this campaign).
There is no option to disable the 2024 ruleset, it is forced onto "Legacy" campaigns and characters, which if we weren't playing on a digital platform we wouldn't have to worry about, OR literally any other VTT.
This is the end of my time with DND Beyond, I will no longer purchase Dungeons and Dragons items either. Good Job Hasbro, 20+ years down the drain of business at least.
Agreed, DnD beyond needs to rapidly implement a way to play with uniquely 2014 rules. Otherwise our group will have to use another character sheet software and demand refunds for the 2014 digital source books on this platform.

Literally just only use legacy options. Tooltips are adjusted but the books are still available for full viewing. You have everything you need to play with just the 2014 rules without issue.

This is completely incorrect. Several character choices have become unavailable despite turning "expanded rules" off.
Cleric domain is selected at level 3 and not 1. Several cleric domains are missing.
While the books are still usable, D&D beyond is not usable anymore for legacy ruoe character creation. Hence the digital books I bought for it are not fully functional anymore and should be at least partially refunded.
And if it's only for reading them, I'd much rather support my local tabletop shop instead of D&D beyond
You have chosen the 2024 cleric and thus it follows the 2024 cleric creation rules. You have to scroll down and select the 2014 version of the class and then the cleric domain is selectable at level 1.

The option was the Paladins Oath of Watchers. It is lo longer visible on D&D Beyond with our subscription (to 2014 phb). And there's no way of knowing up front if it will become available (as a legacy option) if we go ahead and pay up for a 2024 subscription.

We are all in danger!

My character has been totally shafted by WotC.
Odd. So long as you have Legacy enabled and the source material, you should be able to use it on a 2014 class.
what was the option?

No one in our campaign even has the 2024 PHB and they force me to use these rules anyways. That is completely broken.
