If you are looking for the subclasses and/or spells you are used to seeing in the character builder but they are not there, then you have most likely selected the wrong version of your class. The older subclasses are only useable with the “Legacy” (2014) versions of the classes, not the “Core Rules” (2024) versions of the classes. Go back into the character builder and switch which version of the classes you’re character is using.
I repeat, every subclass published prior to the release of the 2024 PHB (including partnered content) is only usable on the “Legacy” (2014) versions of the character classes and will not present as selectable subclasses for the “Core Rules” (2024) versions of the character classes:
If your desired content is from any official source other than the PHB, DMG, or the EEPC (or is partnered content including Critical Role’s Explorer’s Guide to Wildemount), then you must also ensure that the “expanded rules” (and/or “partnered content” depending on the subclass in question) is toggled on for your character.
*NOTE! If you are using the legacy version of a character class and toggle legacy off on the home tab, you will not see any subclasses available in the dropdown for your character.
If that’s not the answer for your particular situation, then do you have your own purchased license to access that content, or is someone else sharing it with you?
If you have purchased access to the content or received it as a gift, then you should use the following link and ensure that your Account Entitlements are in sync: (https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/licenses).
If the content is being shared with you, then process through these steps in order (checking after each step to see if the issue is resolved):
Make sure you are creating your character specifically within the campaign in which that content is being shared? If not, that’s likely the issue. The content isn’t being shared “with you,” it’s being shared “within that campaign.”
You and the person who has a license to access to that content should use the above link and ensure that both of your Account Entitlements are in sync.
Whoever has activated the content sharing should double check that their subscription is current using the above link. If it is they should try turning content sharing for that campaign off and back on again using this link: (https://www.dndbeyond.com/my-campaigns).
If that still does not solve your problem, file a support ticket using the following link: (https://dndbeyond-support.wizards.com/hc/en-us/requests/new). BE PATIENT AND DO NOT SUBMIT MULTIPLE SUPPORT TICKETS. It can take up to or even sometimes more than 3 weeks for support to get to a new ticket. If you submit multiple tickets, you just make things take longer by jamming up the system and simultaneously bumping your original ticket to the bottom of the pile.
Legacy classes that get the legacy toggle turned off can have an empty subclass menu.
Hahahaha. Yeah, I noticed that the other night too but figured nobody would actually mistakenly do that and not realizing it seem answers in the bugs forum. Considering I linked this thread to someone who apparently read it and still didn’t understand the issue leading to my making the more recent additions to the above post, you’re probably right and I should include that piece of information.
I'm in a campaign and the DM who created the campaign shared source books with spells in them, e.g. Acquisitions Incorporated. However, I cannot see spells from books I don't own that have been shared under the spells section of created characters e.g. Jim's magic missile from AI. I can see them under spells in the "listings" section of the app. I have created a level 20 wizard as a test and ensured all toggles on the home section are on. Is this a bug?

To clarify, because the the highlight here has already made some people link to this thread to explain why some subclasses appear to be missing, because they did not read the following paragraph:

All pre-2024 subclasses from TCoE, XGtE, SCAG and GotG are absolutely usable using the 2024 PHB character classes if Expanded Rules are toggled on.
However, Partnered Content is not yet available. Last word on it was that the partners need to update it, but AFAIK, we do not have a timeline on when that will happen.
Can someone direct me to help me regarding races, I was starting a new campaign and this kinda took the wind out of my sails. Are they just gone?
Just turn all the toggles on and they should show up if you have access to them (either by owning the license or being in a campaign where the license is shared).

Yes. Subclasses are the complicated one that's been causing the most confusion. All the other old stuff'll work fine if you have the right toggles on.
Trying to make a goolock… only toggle turned on is legacy, only subclass that shows is fiend. I own the 2014 players handbook by purchase years ago
Likely you are using the 2024 version of the Warlock class without owning the 2024 Player's Handbook. Make sure "2014 Rules" is checked on the Home tab of the character builder, then go to the Class tab and change to the 2014 version of the Warlock class.
Yeah, all relevant boxes checked and no access to homebrew subclasses, either self-created or added from others.
Homebrew subclasses are tied to either the 2014 or 2024 version of a class; the same subclass can't be tied to both. Are you sure you're using the right version of the class for the homebrew subclass(es) you're looking for?

You should also mention the Extended Rules toggle, which will hide all the non-PHB/DMG stuff.
Good point.
