I have 2 PCs with magic staffs...staves...whatever. 1 is a Staff of Healing and 1 is a Staff of Charming. From everything I've read, there's no reason they can't use them as perfectly acceptable quarterstaves in combat. However, clicking anything at all on the character sheet only gives access to the spell abilities of the staves.
We've worked around it by also having them equip a standard quarterstaff and using that, but I was wondering if I'm missing a way to make these things function properly.
I posted this same question on a Reddit sub and someone replied that it works fine for them....so that's really bizarre.
Yup. Equipped and attuned. And it does show up in the attack action area. However, clicking on any part of that area just results in it opening up the description of the staff. No dice rolls to attack.
That’s because they technically count as quarterstaffs, but don’t have anybweapon stats associated with them. The easiest solution is to use the original as a template, and then change it from a “item—>staff” to “weapon—>quarterstaff and leave everything else the same. Then equip that homebrew modified version to the character sheet.

Interesting. It all works properly on my test PCs. I know some have said the dice rolls aren't working on their sheets, maybe that has something to do with it.

From my iPhone and mobile version of web site via firefox & without modification:
both versions of Staff (arcane focus) are equippable & work as rollable weapons in the attack tab
all Magic staffs are equippable & work as rollable weapons in the attack tab
both versions of Wooden Staff (Druidic focus) are not equippable and do not show as attack actions
I haven’t played an arcane caster with a decent Strength score in a while, so I had forgotten about it since it happened after I played that character. But now that you mention it I do remember that they eventually implemented the focus staff as a functional boppity sticks for the character sheet specifically because I remember that despite the fact that the wooden staff has the word “staff” in its name, DDB chose not to apply that functionality to it.

Thanks!
Did they equip it? I just tried it with a test character and equipping it puts the attack in the action area.

Are you running the Beyond20 extension by chance?

No, never used it.

I get the same
