Hello!

I created a homebrew race the other day, and when I went to add in subraces it didn't show the homebrew race in the dropdown list to nest it. Any way to add this functionality?

Is the parent race set to have subraces?

It was not - I've corrected this, but now only the subraces show up in character creation, not the parent race with subraces nested in it.

 This is the way it is currently set up. Only official races get grouped.

 You gotta do that, but you also need to publish the subrace separately. They are stored as separate homebrews in your "My Creations" page. So after you publish the race, make sure you go publish the subrace too.

I'm confused, I created a race, clicked the option that it would have subraces, and created a subrace, but it won't let me publish the parent race because "This homebrew Race has been set to have subraces, but no subraces have been created." I published the subrace, when you click on it it shows the parent race correctly, and when I click that it brings me to the correct parent race, what am I missing?

 Re-save that parent race. Last time you saved was probably before you added the subraces. It only rechecks that stuff again when it is saved.

I'm now realizing that after publishing the subrace, I wasn't done with it, is there a way to delete that one or rescind it so I can edit it further?

I added the update about editing after publication for you.

got it, so theres no way to delete the original from homebrew, that's kind of a bummer. I'll have to use that subrace as my reminder to follow your first piece of advice and not publish.

Publish. Definitely publish. Eventually, once you get the hang of it it’s less of an issue. I rushed to publish some things and regret it. It’s the rushing that’s the problem.

I'm confused, I have every single thing right. I added the subrace to the actual race but it still won't let me post my race because it states "This homebrew Race has been set to have subraces, but no subraces have been created." even though I added the subraces to it and I saved after I did it.

Re-save the whole race, wait 20 minutes and check again.

im not understanding how to make sub races for my homebrew. do I add a variant? or is it the "species option" that I am supposed to use?

There are no more “subraces,” they are called “species options” now.
