I am having the same issue. It is stated that you can only use those sub-classes that are listed in the basic rules. I purchased the Essentials kit. With that has Essential Kit Rulebook. In this rule book it shows the Arcane Trickster as a sub-class and I have chosen it for my character. I do have access to the digital content for this as I was given a code for D&D Beyond when I purchased my Essentials kit off of Amazon. If it is in this rule book why is it not allowed in my character manager? I have access to the digital as well as the physical content.

How long ago did you redeem the code? It can take a bit to hit the character builder.

So the Essentials Kit is an exception to how things usually work here at DDB. What is available here from the Essentials kit is the adventure, not the rule book. So redeeming the code from the physical kit or purchasing the adventure doesn't get you the non-SRD/basic rules content from the rules booklet in the kit. I'm not entirely sure why it is that way, but it is. I'm also aware that this reality has not been clearly communicated by DDB or WOTC. Since you bought the physical Essentials kit, you also have a code for 1/2 off the Players Handbook, and I think that it supposed to balance the fact that the non-SRD subclasses aren't included. Your options at this point are:
It was about a month ago that I redeemed the code. It shows me as having the content in the compendium and I can access everything through the website and mobile app. In regards to the purchase of the PHB at 50% off. That is not a bad deal but I am still stuck with not having the physical book when playing in person and then I am required to have my computer with me when playing so I can look things up that I already have in my essentials kit. I know I can use my phone to pull up the app but that is not great either as it is a small screen and not very conducive to looking something up to show my players in a format that is easy for them to see and read. I much prefer the physical books. I know I can purchase the physical books and get a code for the PHB in DDB but since I have already invested the money I should have access to the same things that are in the online versions of the book as well as the physical. That code does not help with purchasing the physical books.
At one point I was considering purchasing a subscription but If I am spending money on something that I am not already getting what I pay for, why should I give them even more money?!?!

The code included in the Essentials Kit is to unlock the included adventure, Dragon of Icespire Peak, as well as it's three follow up adventures. The code does not unlock the entire contents of the Essentials Kit, which includes an expanded/modified version of the Basic Rules that touches on character creation (including some non-Basic Rules subclasses).
In order to access the non-Basic Rules subclases you will need to do one of the following:
Purchase the source book that contains the subclass. For Arcane Trickers, that's specifically the Player's Handbook
Purchase the subclass individually
Homebrew the subclass using the homebrew tools (please note, this is for personal use only)
Join a campaign with content sharing enable where someone owns the desired subclass.
And to clarify: the code for 50% off the PHB is in the physical essentials kit box, along with the code for the adventures kit here. Purchasing a physical copy of the PHB does not get you a coupon off the PHB here. The 50% off code was only available through the essentials kit.
My Rogue has reached 3rd level and when I click "Roguish Archetype" to select my specialty I can only see "Thief" as an option. I'm not provided with the "Assassin" or "Arcane Trickster" options. Is there some setting that needs to be in place?
So despite selecting Player's Handbook as a source and despite Arcane Trickster being listed as a Roguish Archtype in that source, we still can still only select Thief unless we purchase the digital edition (in my case, having also bought the hardcopy). Why include the Player's Handbook as a source option if it can't be used until purchased digitally? It's been 4 years since this thread was started. Surely that's enough time to figure out a solution to marry hardcopies with digital versions....
I purchased an annual subscription 4 months ago. This is enough for me to question renewing it.

Because once you purchase it, the Player's Handbook is available to use. And it is available if that content is being shared with you.
As for hardcover books not unlocking content access here, please see this thread.

I appreciate the time you took to reply. However, in the end, this is only a problem because either Wizards or Fandom or both don't want to solve it.
I can't use arcane trickster. The character is level 5, and I've bought it already. After the new update it's now completely gone, does anyone know why?

The Arcane Trickster is not included in the Basic Rules. You will need to purchase the Player's Handbook or the individual subclass.
Lightning Strike - A rebranded Fire Bolt for Wizards & Sorcerers.
Spirit Bomb - A holy fireball for Clerics, Paladins, & Divine Soul Sorcerers!
Sword Dancer - A Cleric subclass specifically for the Drow goddess Eilistraee.
Quicksilver & The Scarlet Witch - A pair of magical firearms for your Gunslinger or Artificer.

Where can I find the place to buy the arcane trickster subclass alone and not repurchase the PHB outright?
Thank you so much.
