I am a brand-new baby D&D player creating my first character, a halfling paladin (level 3, per my DM's instruction). I understand from the Players' Handbook that I have three choices for my sacred oath-- oath of devotion, oath of the ancients, and oath of vengeance; however, the oath dropdown in the character creation flow only shows the first option. Originally the site suggested that I go to the Marketplace in order to unlock the additional options. I did go ahead and subscribe, but I still only have on possible oath. What do?
Subscriptions do not unlock content. The benefits of a subscription are listed under the subscription. Unlocked content is not listed at all because it is not a benefit of subscription.
Subscriptions don't unlock content, for that you need to either purchase the book the content is found in (such as the Player's Handbook) or the individual options.
You can purchase the Player's Handbook here or the individual paladin oaths here.
Details of what the subscriptions unlock can be found here, but the summary would be
Hero Tier
Remove all adverts
Unlimited character slots
Save public homebrew to your homebrew collection
Access tools and features while they're in alpha, ahead of non-subscribers
Master Tier
All features from Hero Tier
Activate content sharing in up to 5 campaigns (until end of year, at which point it will return to 3), sharing all content owned by all members with all other members.
The thing with subscriptions is that they don't unlock content. You have to buy them from the store. In its simplest form, Subscriptions disable ads, increase character slots and can enable you to share unlocked content in a campaign.
Now for your example in trying to get access to the other Paladin builds, you have three options:
1. For a cost, you can choose to buy a digital version of the entire Players Handbook. That gives you access to everything Paladin AND all the other classes and races in that book. https://www.dndbeyond.com/marketplace/sourcebooks
2. For a smaller cost, You can choose to buy 'piecemeal' and just buy the Paladin subclass you want e.g. Oath of Vengeance. This will be about $2.99 (I think) but anything you buy goes towards the entire cost of the Players Handbook should you later decide to buy the book later down the line. https://www.dndbeyond.com/marketplace/sourcebooks/players-handbook
3. For no cost, you could homebrew the entire class. Although this will involve putting in your own free time into the homebrew system and working out things through trial and error/community help.
And in case you were wondering, there is no way to redeem a code from a physical book you have already bought at home to use on this site to access the same book here on the website.

The option to purchase content "a la carte" was removed on April 30th, 2024. Purchasing individual oaths, subclasses, spells, items, etc, is no longer supported by DnD Beyond.

If you wish to unlock those subclasses, you will either need to Purchase the “full version” of the PHB from this website, or follow that link and scroll down and you will be given the option to purchase just those specific subclasses.

Many thanks to all three of you! I now see what I did wrong and am back on the right path.
What if I already own a physical copy of the players handbook?

In addition to the choices Sposta named above, your third option is to homebrew the oaths yourself. Just don't publish them.

I'm sorry. I don't see anywhere to purchase individual Paladin Oath's?

This is an issue I'm experiencing as well, even with the old and new digital content purchased. Only one oath shows up.
