Downloaded the new app when it came out and am unable to download books. It gets to about 80% and then says "download failed" and I have the option to retry the download, but it doesn't work.
I am on Android 10 on a Samsung S9.
Anyone else running into this?
Edit: was able to download a smaller book (xanathar's), but can't download anything bigger than 100 mb despite having 10 GB of space available.
Same issue here on iPhone 12. iOs ver 14.4. Tried Reinstalling several times but downloads aren't working. It starts the Download but just sits at 0% forever. Tried on Cellular and Wifi.
Issue is with larger sources. I downloaded Xanathar's fine, but anything above 100 MB stopped
The percentage where it stopped varied depending on the size of the file. Felt like the download was timing out
No other device to try out, but I turned off my wifi and noticed the download speed was much quicker and I was able to download everything over cellular data. In other apps my wifi speed is much faster than the cellular data.
Update:I posted this in another thread but I uninstalled the D&D app on my tablet and reinstalled it and every book re-downloaded just fine.
Samsung Tab A
Android 10
About half of my books are downloaded i have 5g of free space and when I try to download others it starts to let me then freezes at the last tick of percentage on the download no matter the size. I can click it and say dismiss the pop-up or cancel the download. No amount of waiting lets it tick over that last percentage. The books downloaded fine on my Google pixel gen 1....
Galaxy Tab A, Android 10 3.5 gb available (though if I were able to select where it is stored, I could have 112 gb) Seems to be only large sources, those well over 100 mb (Dragon Heist was hitting 99% before giving up, but for some reason this morning downloaded in full after one failed attempt) It varies in percentages. Could be due to time; feels about the same length, but that's just anecdotal.
Hi All - The team have asked for more info to be able to assist them in trying to pinpoint the issue.
Can you please advise the following to me via PRIVATE MESSAGE as I do not wish for location details of end users to be public knowledge.:
* Your location (for example Seattle, US / Singapore / London, UK ) * Date of attempt to Download * Time/Timezone of attempted download * Are you using Wifi or Cellular * Are there any VPNs on the device or data connection
I was having the same issue/or at least something similar to it. And think I have maybe found a lead to the issue:
I couldn't download neither the phb nor the dmg on android, the would always freeze between 87% and 99% while the download notification in the notification bar would suddenly disappear. I the could only cancel the download or dismiss the cancelation when selecting an affected book.
Restarting/reinstallation/clearing cache/force stop didn't change a thing. So I did some diging in my local phone files and on the sd card that I used previously on the old reader app:
Found a folder called com.fandom.playercompanion under Android/data on both the sd card and internal storage that was 0 Byte large.
I deleted it on my sd card (assuming it was a left over folder from the reader app which I had uninstalled recently) after that the phb was suddenly unfrozen and recognized on my device.
When I then started the download of the dmg it froze again at around 90% and I could also find the same folder on my sd card again. Same procedure as with the phb and the dmg was now download.
Judging from this behaviour I'd assume that there is:
A) An issue with the download cache not being cleared or not being flagged correctly (return code issue?)
B) Remains of the old reader app, or settings of it lingering in the system (e.g. storage location) causing a conflict of data
C) Some code parts may run in an endless loop due to some variable being wrong, causing the app/download client to be stuck between two states (e.g. download finished and cleaning up data)
Hope this helps anyone figuring this issue out. Unfortunately I can't guarantee this works for anybody else but maybe someone is willing to try and share results.

Thank you very much for this detailed description.
We'd need a bunch of info to better track the issue:
What device do you use?
What Android version do you use?
Did you move the app the SD card?
Did you make a system switch that downloads should go to your SD card?
3. Both Apps were installed on the internal storage.
4. The 'legacy' reader app had been set to save the Books to the SD-card prior to the update that merged the functionality of both reader and player apps. After the update I uninstalled the reader, but this was before I tried downloading the books on the updated player app. Furthermore I have set my device's standard save path to the SD-card. Also the option "allow external storage usage by apps" under the developer options is and was turned of, so no override of the app manifest on this end I'd assume.
Hope this helps you at least a little. Keep up the good work.

This is the first I've heard of this type of problem, do you have enough free space on the phone to download the files?

Was at 7 GB and thought that might be the issue so freed it up to 10 GB.
I'm having the same problem on one device but not another.

I'll pass this info onto the mobile team in case this helps to narrow down a resolution. Thanks for posting!

Happy to help where I can:

2. Android 7.0 Kernel Version 4.1.18-gc43c315

Yep
I've had this issue as well with downloads failing.
IPhone 8 with IOS 14.7.1
Over 15gb free space.
was able to download some content books but Tortle package, Eberron, Ravnica, Rrakkma and quite a few others failed.
these seem to be content which is shared with me, but I was able to download other shared content without issues.
woukd be grateful of assistance in downloading the content.
thanks
