I was looking into updating a character of mine that was made using the 2014 ruleset and Echo Knight fighter subclass from the Critical Role partnered content.
Using the 2024 Fighter, I do not have any access to the Echo Knight class despite Critical Role partnered content being turned on.
This seems like another attempt at saying "no using old content" despite promises that all old content would be usable with the new rulesets. Hopefully this is just a glitch and is being worked on.
FYI: It took some digging but I found the most current official statement on this: In the Bugs & Support forums the "Player’s Handbook - Issues and Support Thread" mentions:
BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY
Subclasses
As the new classes are backwards compatible - we’ve ensured that all the previous subclasses from books published by Wizards of the Coast work without any issues for the 2024 classes.
Furthermore - it’s included with the book they originally appear in - and will be granted to the owners of those books retroactively.
Just as a note - you’ll note that many subclasses that have been published by our various Partners do not appear for the 2024 classes. We’re working with them to update their content for the new rules, but do not have an ETA for those releases.
same issue, is this a (no longer able to use elequence bard) situation or a but untill they fix it?
Eloquence is working with 2024 classes. Also isn't partnered content, so was never an issue. (There's a couple of subclasses, Arcane Archer Fighter being one, that are bugged currently and not showing up but Eloquence isn't one of them.)
Double check and make sure Expanded Rules is toggled on.
Ranger subclasses from TCE are not showing up either. along with optional class features.
Gloom stalker and Beast master are not available either.
If you're in the 2024 Ranger class, the TCoE subclasses require: -Fey Wanderer: 2024 PHB, this has been revised and the TCoE version is incompatible with the 2024 class -Swarmkeeper: Make sure you have the Extended Rules toggle turned on for the subclass to show up
If in the 2014 Ranger class, both just require the Extended toggle.
Beast Master and Gloom Stalker were also revised and require the 2024 PHB to show up for the 2024 Ranger, but are still compatible with the 2014 Ranger.
Optional Class Features from Tasha's are also attached to 2014 Ranger. However, all of Deft Explorer's features made it into the base class (with improvement to Roving and Tireless being tied to Wisdom mod instead of Proficiency uses), Favored Foe got reworked into the new Favored Enemy (free castings of Hunter's Mark, just straight-up better), your Fighting Style options aren't limited from the start any more, you can use a spellcasting focus by default, and all but one of the expanded spells (Searing Smite) are part of the base spell list now. So it's not like you can't use them at all, they just aren't in an optional list any more. Primal Awareness is the only one left out entirely.

It's more of a legal issue than a bug but they are working on it.
Same here! We still use 2014 legacy PHB, and currently I can't use app or site, because my "new legacy" character can't use content I have purchased. And my whole party still pkay using 2014 rulebook. Sounds like money extortion to me.

What content are you unable to use? None of the options have been revoked in the creator.
I found out what's happenning - instead of adding some usability, WotC have split legacy and 2024 classes completely! So everywhere you can see your legacy spells, lagacy origins and stuff in the main lists, but when you want to choose subclass, it is "tied" to 2024 class. You can find legacy classes if you scroll down. You can't switch it later in your progression - so you find out that you get only basic rules when you level up to lvl 3.
The druid also has this issue with its circle of stars if you didn't buy access to the 2024 rulebook, even if you own it through tasha's
What issue are you referring to? If it's that TCoE Circle of Stars doesn't show up in 2024 Druid, that isn't an issue or bug, that's intended behavior. Anything that's been revised in 2024 PHB or later, you MUST use the revised version if using a 2024 class.
On that note, even 2014 characters are supposed to use 2024 spells and feats if played in a game with the 2024 rules.
But circle of stars is the same in both the new handbook and Tasha's. It hasn't been changed at all between the two books. It hasn't been revised, just re released.
But also, wizards claims that everything is backwards compatible, but yet, doesn't let you mix and mash 2014 class content with 2024? That doesn't really reflect here in this instance

Although it is mostly the same, there are a couple of minor changes to the Circle of Stars subclass.
On D&D Beyond, you can use the new version of Circle of Stars with the new version of the Druid class, and the old version of Circle of Stars with the old version of the Druid class. In tabletop D&D, you can use whatever you and your DM agree on.

They're not gonna try to carefully parse whether there's been any real change.
Also, the new version has been modified to start at level three, and all its spells will link to the updated spells.

It does. All the first-party subclasses can be used with the 2024 classes, except the ones that got updated.
There's nothing stopping third-party from working, except lack of agreements between WotC and the publishers.

Concur. Have Partner Content selected but those options are not available in the drop down menus and also the magic items are not available at all.
I’m guessing it’s a glitch. I was able to use a subclass from TCE.
I am having this issue with homebrew as well. I have it turned on but I can't select my homebrew options.

My 2024 ranger is allowing me to select Swarmkeeper from TCoE, but not fey wanderer. Is this a glitch?
edit: I saw it was in the new players handbook, and I just bought that book and it’s still not showing up
Did you buy in the app? There's usually a delay there before it shows up.
Whether you did or not, check your entitlements (user menu->account->licenses)
