According to Faith Elisabeth Lilley, who was on the digital content team at Wizards of the Coast, the contributor credits for the team have been removed from DDB.
The team was responsible for content feedback and the implementation of book content on the online platform. While it had been indicated to them that they would not be included in the credits of the physical books for space reasons, WotC apparently agreed to include them in the online credits.
It appears that those credits have now been removed.
From her second edit:
I checked in with someone still at Wizards, because I don't want to cause drama if there was a genuine mistake made.
"Yes, the change was intentional. I can't comment further as that's above my pay grade."
Oh look, another shitty decision from WotC. It's been a few weeks since their last one 🙄 Looks like a deliberate decision to screw over some of the people that contributed to their books. According to the posts by Faith they didn't just do the actual print to digital conversion, they contributed to the physical books too so it was already unfair not to be in the book credits.
"The DDB content team, and I as senior producer, worked with both the book team and the developers. We reviewed draft game design early in the book process, gave feedback on impact and suggested changes. Later in the process, we functioned as QA, picking up on errors in statblocks, rules text, names - dramatically reducing the need for errata. The team also converted the book into D&D Beyond for launch." - Faith Elisabeth Lilley on the Enworld forum
Many of Wizards’ recent “bad decisions” have justifiable reasons one can derive by using just a little common sense.
This one does not. It is petty, dishonest, and unfair to individuals who put effort into making the game better.
I also think this is going to create a bigger problem than Wizards’ senior staff knows, and hope our intrepid Community Manager LaTiaJacquise might be able to help both our game and the D&D Beyond team by passing a warning up the chain of command.
D&D Beyond has a conspiracy problem that this is going to feed into. Ever since Wizards bought D&D, there has been a conspiracy that they only bought it to kill it. It is a dumb conspiracy, contradicted by almost every single piece of actual evidence. And the majority of the people posting it and upvoting it are the same people who often make discriminatory posts, so I expect they have an ulterior motive in posting the conspiracy.
But it is a common conspiracy - and one which can sometimes entrap innocent players who are not following the logistical side of the game close enough to realize it is nonsensical. I expect Wizards’ senior staff does not really know this is occurring - but it decidedly is.
Reversing this silly decision is the right thing to do for the developers who worked hard on this game and deserve recognition. It is also the necessary thing to do to ensure Wizards is not giving ammunition to a conspiracy often promulgated by the worst parts of our community.

I would sincerely hope so. Intentionally taking credit away from staff you've laid off is an indefensibly petty move made by WotC/Hasbro.
The current D&D Beyond team do not need to be taking the flak that should be reserved for the higher-ups who made these recent choices, I hope that can also be communicated to them via LaTiaJacquise.

This is a baffling decision, and I have nothing to say to its stupidity, but I wanted to point out that there haven't been any actual problems with WotC for months, ever since they removed A la Carte shopping in the marketplace, and that one was also the first in the year 2024. That doesn't change that this today is just stupid, and not to be overly dramatic, extremely harmful to the community. We could have easily avoided this and had a clean year, but no. And I also don't see any purpose to this.

Per Lilley over on X on Sept. 11, there's been no update on this over 6 weeks later (copying over the thread without images with link at the bottom):
UPDATE ON @Wizards_DnD REMOVING CREDITS FROM @DnDBeyond
On 31st July 2024 I created a D&D Beyond support ticket and sent an email to the HR team. My email was forwarded on through HR up to Kerry McDonald (HR Director) on 8th August. [Screenshots of emails]
It's been 6 weeks since I reached out to try to get this resolved.
I feel I have given Wizards of the Coast plenty of time to respond to me in any meaningful capacity, but it seems that Adam, Cam, Joseph, and I are not to be extended the courtesy of a response.
It makes me sad that Wizards of the Coast has such disrespect for former employees that they do something like this, and then won't even respond. Not even to say they're looking into it, or to offer an explanation why this was done.
End result, I am left with only one conclusion - someone senior at Wizards of the Coast decided that I, and my former team, should be removed from the credits of the books we helped create and I have no idea why.
As evidenced multiple times over the last few years, the culture at Wizards of the Coast is to refuse to acknowledge the consequences of their actions, unless there is public pressure and a financial impact to them for not responding.
Businesses shouldn't behave this way, especially not one that is part of the #ttrpg community.
For those who may ask about Hasbro UK/Wizards - I live in the UK. When D&D Beyond was acquired by Wizards of the Coast, while I continued to work on D&D Beyond, as part of the Wizards leadership team, my employment contract was transferred across to Hasbro UK.
My role was, "Manager, Product Management" with a working job title of, "Senior Producer, digital" Other Wizards of the Coast staff in the UK are also employed through Hasbro UK.

That's such a shame, at least I was given the automated "It's important that your voice is heard- but not important enough for an actual human to hear them" boilerplate response to the ticket I submitted.
If this got half the outrage from people as the Legacy spells being removed from the toolset did, the credits would have been put right back in with a formal apology. Alas, WotC can do this because it doesn't impact the consumer personally, so they largely don't care. What a shame.

Sadly true. What has me scratching my head though is that every anti-consumer action the bean counters have taken recently can be argued has been for the sake of their shareholders bottom line, but this one is… just why? What did they possibly have to gain out of this besides sheer utter pettiness?
