Is there a way to make sure that my 2014 character in my current 2014 campaign only has access to the 2014 spells, feats, equipment, etc.? I know that they want everyone to be using the new rules, but not everyone in my campaign uses D&D Beyond and I want to make sure that I don't accidentally add new features unavailable to those players the next time we level up, go shopping, or find magic items. We discussed the new rules a few weeks ago, and not many people want to switch mid-campaign to new rules, especially with the new DMG and Monster manual not being out yet.
There are the sliders to allow or disable Legacy and Expanded content, but can we get a toggle slider for 2024 content as well?

I believe the answer is no. The 2024 options are the presumed default of the game. They made a last minute change to even keep the 2014 spells.
The other issue is that not all old content is Legacy, so you can't even just use stuff with Legacy tags and ignore those without.
The only way I know of to do it is to keep both content active...then look for duplicates. If there's a duplicate, one should have a Legacy tag, which is the one you want. If there's not a duplicate, then it should be old content that hasn't been superceded yet and so is valid for 2014 rules.

If you're not willing or able to to discuss in good faith, then don't be surprised if I don't respond, there are better things in life for me to do than humour you. This signature is that response.
i would also like to be able to turn off the 2024 stuff. I don't use it yet and to be honest the way its force to be there is very annoying. when I am trying to work with new player its problematic to have multiply sets of things that look the same but do not go together and im not moving to the 2024 materials yet maybe not ever if its keeps going this way.
I suspect this is the most we will get out of them. They want to push as many people as possible to 2024. What better way to do that than have the players see the power creep of their classes in 2024 and lobby their table to move to 2024.
I'm ok with the idea that the company wants to be able to keep their creatives on staff, so they need to sell new stuff. No harm no foul. But when they take functionality away from my table to do that, they are telling me to spend my money elsewhere. It is too bad, because I love using DnDBeyond. It has been excellent for two of my tables. We'll keep using it for now. The duplicate spells is a mild "confustification" that my players can work with. The adjusted hyperlinked rules will be a similar confustification, but we'll be able to work with it. I'll just have them double check that they are reading 2014 material.
I just need to keep my eyes open for the up and coming competitors now - the ones that will want to do right by their clients, allowing them to choose when they want to move, rather than try to force them to buy a new version by making the prior version more difficult to use with their tools. If I find a new tool set that works almost as well as DnDBeyond, I'll make sure to post it here in the DnDBeyond forums. :D
I'm struggling with my multiclass Blood Hunter/Fighter. When I want to choose Battle Master at level 3, it just tells me 'Character options from older sources that may conflict with the Core Rules. These include sources that are out of print or created for charity.'
DnDBeyond, the latest toolset to be purchased by a large company and summarily driven into the ground. It's only taken them three years!
We can only hope that this wasn't just intended to decimate the competition before the release of Sigil. Maybe they will find a way to dig it up and resurrect it, but I'm sure they will be pouring all of their resources into the new more expensive product.
Most of my players have already stopped using it for my 2014 campaigns, so I am looking elsewhere to see if any other tools come close. Hopefully Hasbro will right the ship before we all jump onto lifeboats.

Blood Hunter was never a proper class at all. It got supported originally because of the partnership with Critical Role and D&D Beyond, not Wizards of the Coast and Critical Role. As such, the 2024 character builder was "not" built with support for either Blood Hunter or the Gunslinger subclass that Mercer wrote when his group switched from Pathfinder.
So I just opened up the character builder and can create a blood hunter character. Clearly the 2024 builder still supports it. Just like all the other issues that people are running into, the tool has become buggy and unstable after the big messy poorly planned update.

Demiplane is a similar tool for other RPGs like Pathfinder, Avatar the Last Airbender, and Marvel Multiverse. They have 5E tools, but I am not sure the state of them at this time.

You can on the app. Just make sure you have the legacy switch on and you can scroll down to see the 2014 legacy options
The 2024 spells still show up though. They shouldn't at all if it's a 2014 only character.

Hi, this is the only way I know to do it too.

this is so disappointing
what was a great campaign tool is now become massive campaign disruption for me as the dm
DM Candlekeep Mysteries - 75 minutes - Weekly
DM Tomb of Annihilation - 3.5 Hours - Fortnightly
DM Hoard of the Dragon Queen - 3.5 Hours - Fortnightly
DM Starfinder group - 4 - 5 hours - Monthly
Player Call of the Nether deep - about 3 hours Fortnightly

Are the "expanded rules" on the character creation sheet not the 2024 rules? There is a toggle for that.
Actually I think the expanded rules are 2014 rules.
The expanded rules are every book that's not PHB, DMG, and MM.
Which such books are there written for the 2024 rules, rather than 2014, though?
None, yet, although there's no clear line between the two, really.
But saying it that way, in that context, is liable to lead to confusion.
Truly unacceptable that this remains unresolved. Subscription remains cancelled until the provision to hide all 2024 content is made available.
