I like the repetition of the section from the older video, and then the new notes that are revealed.
Been a DM for 45 years, hav a group of 6 other DMs and a total player group of 53 people, that play every week in different games.
Sadly, we do a lot of custom stuff -- world's, expansions, etc. -- so we can't use the other features of DDB, but we are excited about Sigil and this new DMG is the most important part to us -- plus, with the oldest members of the group (nearing 60) the inclusion of greyhawk excites us. We won't use it, but the nostalgia is enough.
There's going to be a lot of content in here that feels like a good pull from older editions to bring intot he current.
THe salt may be real, but I for one am excited about the sweet.

I really liked the video, but I hope there is a future video that dips into what optional rules are presented and if there is guidance on how to make balanced custom subclasses, species, monsters, and stuff like that.
Things that got me excited: Gargantuan Greyhawk Map Exploration Magic Item ART (Oh I do hope there's one for everything) CRAFTING Seeing the SUBCLASS art being featured in other parts of the book, used in other scenes, that was so delightful. I do hope they get featured like mascots for promotions.
Things that are dampening my excitement: The plethora of BUGs that still exists, and that may exist when DMG floodgates open xD
Greyhawk! I started back when the Waterdeep maps and stuff first came out for The Forgotten Realms so just missed out on getting to play in Greyhawk. Now almost 50 years for me playing the game here is my chance at last to get to play in Greyhawk.
"A rightful place awaits you in the Realms Above, in the Land of the Great Light. Come in peace, and live beneath the sun again, where trees and flowers grow."
— The message of Eilistraee to all decent drow.
"Run thy sword across my chains, Silver Lady, that I may join your dance.”
Very, Very much looking forward to reading it. I'm hoping hybrid Species rules are in it, maybe a subclass or two, some old school lore on Valley Elves (hopefully with an improved name), updated Githyanki as they were in Greyhawk first. I'm looking forward to having my players do the bastions...
But also did anyone notice the artwork in the background. There was a hansom blonde Orc... at first I though he was a half elf, but he had tusks. ((29:41))
Ok, so we know the Bastion preview is coming up soon, but what other previews of DMG content have you in store for us?

Not really the best place to be asking as it's totally off topic. You just missed a sale last week and there'll probably be another around Black Friday
As for the actual thread topic I'm very much looking forward to this. Tried reading the 2014 DMG a few times but it's very dry and weirdly laid out so always struggle. This sounds a lot better. Also thought it was a cute idea that the PHB has lots of artwrk of heroes being heroic because that's what players are and the DMG has art of panicking heroes and monsters winning because that's the DMs

I know this is a contentious topic, but personally I’m hoping we still get subclass stats for making Cleric and Paladin BBEGs. Particularly since there’s only one option for that on the Paladin front in the new PHB and one of the better picks for Clerics from 14 didn’t make the jump. It’s not a make or break point for me, but I think it’s a tool that should remain in the core DM kit.

zif thy do, it sounds like it will be part of th DM's Toolkit chapter, which appears to be a collection of all the odds and ends in the 2014 book.
For my part, I am hoping they work in a better understanding of what Exploration involves.

Imo bad guys shouldn't use player character stats since that essentially turns combat into PvP, which 5e is not balanced for.

It’s not perfect, but NPC blocks have become increasingly inflexible, so when a DM is trying to tune a BBEG for a given party their options are essentially either use a class as a framework and fine tune from there, or just build something entirely from scratch. Given that, it’s hardly going to hurt to provide some pre-existing options for the classic evil priest or warrior of darkness archetypes.
I would prefer that they provide those options as stat blocks — showing how to convert a PC to a Stat Block — but the general idea, I think was in case someone wanted to run a party of evil characters (a common enough occurrence) and to show how to set up a class as evil.

Honestly, the exploration potential is something that caused my ears to perk up. For me, it has always been something I could take or leave, but I have one player in one of my suspended games who was all about exploration, as he is a real life outdoorsman. In fact, I often would just set the basics of a scene and handed things over to him to fill in details when narrating things like travel, hunting, and the like. So for the sake of at least one of my players, I hope there is a lot there on the subject.

I mean, it’s less a case of truly making a conversion than just knowing how to run the CR calculation on one, and how to tweak from there. Practically speaking, a stat block is just a differently arranged format for presenting actions and passive features.
I agree some ideas about exploration and social pillars would be cool. I’d love if the DM toolkit has ideas for running skill challenges like in 4e. Especially with how nicely those work with social and exploration.
And so begin the DMG previews!

Oh yeah, putting some more guidelines and suggestions out for exploration would be a big plus.
