The Periapt of Wound Closure doubles the healing received when you roll hit dice to regain HP. Hit Dice (called Hit Point Dice in the 2024 rules) are a specific mechanic typically used for healing during a short rest, though there are other ways to use them too. The Periapt of Wound Closure's effect doesn't apply to any dice used for healing, just Hit Dice.
I would rule that if you fail three saving throws between the start of one turn and the next, you've "died", and thus will die when your rage ends unless somebody heals you before then. Taking damage three times will cause that.
Of course, it's mostly a moot point. Having a single healing potion to drink before your rage ends will save you, and even if you do die, somebody can raise you for no cost in diamonds. Neither of these should be a problem for a level 14 party.
Unless the party loses the battle, of course, in which case being alive but unconscious really doesn't help anyway.
What does this have to do with the question OP asked?

This is correct. While the 2024 Zealot Barbarian gets a pool of d12s, which do match up with what their hit die are to heal themselves from? They are specifically not hit dice.

Would the periapt double the healing from these?
No.
