Selling physical copies above Amazon prices of depreciated rules expansion gift bundles... is a choice. At this point you could have just skipped the sale altogether.
I'm still surprised anyone WANTS the manipulative tactics to be normalized.
Let alone feel entitled to them.
Are y'all sincerely upset that you aren't being manipulated by a megacorp enough to your liking because there's nothing you want to overspend on?
Because this is the sort of thing the fandom is made fun of for.
You're being a bit smug about the fact people don't want to pay full price for something that they'd earlier decided "I want that but not enough to pay full price so I'll wait for a sale I know will probably come up"

So instead of being smart and waiting for sales to NOT pay full price to the "megacorps", you are suggesting everyone not want sales and pay the "megacorps".... full price for their products? Think about what you are saying for one second and you will realize you are arguing for people to pay them more money for the same thing and saying those wanting to pay LESS are the ones being manipulated??? If anything, you are the one arguing for "megacorps" to not put things on sale so everyone has to pay full price. You are lacking basic common sense. Or you are just upset others have the patience to not buy things till they are on sale.
Also news flash, not everyone "overspends" when a sale happens. Most people just grab what they want at sale price instead of full price, nothing extra. Seems like you are projecting your own bad habits of overspending onto others.

You pay less per item, BUT you're encouraged to spend more than those discounts actually save long-term.
What I do or don't do has nothing to do with the actual history of the sales pitch by it's creator.
What I'd rather have is lower prices period, all year, instead of one day.
Execs & investors should eat the cost of tarrifs & any other thing used as an excuse for price hikes.

Well, great lesson for next year's Black Friday. Guess I don't have to save up for that one.
I was hoping for a Corebook 2024 Digital bundle discount or maybe a digital Adventure combo Eve of ruin, Pandelver bundle discount. That would be interesting.
Maybe next time put up a poll so customers can vote for what they would be interested in for BF discount.
I saw that! You can even filter to see 3 digital items in the "sale" but they're all just regular price. Actually wanted to spend this year but wow, was not expecting this.
I'm still surprised anyone WANTS the manipulative tactics to be normalized.
Let alone feel entitled to them.

Key word being "encouraged", it's well known people are spending less this year so many companies are trying to bring consumers back but obviously not WotC.
Ppl aren't upset that the manipulative tactics aren't to our liking. No one WANTS the manipulative tactics to be normalized and much less feel entitled to it. Everyone wants lower prices all year but obviously D&D's dismal numbers in their earnings report have not shifted WotC's tactics yet. D&D was mentioned twice in that report and was combined with non D&D related line items at that... Ppl want WotC to know we're upset and need to shift their culture back towards being more consumer friendly at least to the levels before Hasbro reorganized in 2021.
How consumers spend or don't spend and the history of how they spend every year actually has a huge influence in the sales pitch of creators. This is why many companies try to do loyalty programs and apps to not only get ppl invested in their system but also for data tracking purposes.

Source on that earnings report?
Preferably NOT from a content creator?
Also, "people" is doing a lot of work there.
Are you referring to people who yell non-stop about the Pinkerton incident who had no prior investment in DND, yet act like they care the second cops get mentioned?
Are you referring to the overblown specter of OGLgate by content creators w/o a business plan B or have parasocial axes to grind, or those who do like things?
Are you referring to people who don't like paying for goods & services &/or are holding out for a hero? Or people who want "more" but have wildly different opinions on what good "more" is?
Are you referring to Redditors, who vary as much as possible?
Are you referring to the forumsgoers, who are split into multiple camps?
Are your referring to other fandoms, who can & do get really parasocial for other companies in the way they project onto DND fans?
Are you referring to some Platonic ideal of the average fan?
Which "People"? Be specific, & don't use weasel words. & don't say all of those. No fandom or antifandom is a monolith or a hivemind.

Ya, you would think the digital stuff could have massive discounts, since it didn't really cost them anything. Or next to nothing. I've been waiting months for this day and I was planning to spend a few hundred dollars on various things. But now, I'll probably spend zero dollars 💸

So you're willing to let a megacorp manipulate you?

I have a wishlist of at least 10 digital products that I would like to buy. And none of them are on the discount list. I am very disappointed. 🥲
There's always next year. Or when 6e is out. Maybe then they will throw the complementary rules to 2024 at us at a never seen before deep 5% discount.
at this point just better off as a community homebrewing everything into the game so books are no longer needed
