So I was thinking of a Shadar-kai shadow monk who became disillusioned with the life he led. Wishing for more and hoping beyond hope for a way to escape his fate, he abandoned his faith and the Shadowfell.
To escape, he made a pact wirh a powerful celestial and became a celestial warlock
Now he seeks a way to undo the curse that will eventually take him and the rest of his kind and believing that he has found the answer in the light, he strikes a strange figure at temples, shrines and festivals. Where he can often be found knelt in prayer as he seeks slavation for all his kind.
Feircly devoted to his patron and passionately believing that the light can save all the Shadar-kai, he spends his days in service to the greater good.
Fights evil and chaos and darkness where ever it can be found and once he has made up his mind to do a thing, will let nothing (save his patrons command) dissuade him from his chosen path.
With that kind of backstory, you could also consider muticlass Cleric, to avoid MAD too much, but that depends mostly on the kind of spells/features you are most interested into, since story-wise it would change close to nothing.
[EDIT: Light domain would work exceptionally well narratively, imho]

A caffeinated nerd who has played TTRPGs or a number of years and is very much a fantasy adventure geek.
That would require having a minimum of 13 in Dexterity, Wisdom and Charisma which is a bit of a tall order.
"Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation."
