Please make sure that you have levelled up the character to at least 3rd level in the Rogue class - that's when a Rogue character gains the ability to be able to select a subclass.
I figured it out. I thought I had changed the level to 3 but was still at level 2 and didn't realize it. Thanks though. I feel stupid for asking about it now. LOL
Will I have to purchase the entire book or is it possible to just get the assassin subclass? Because I don't need any of the others and I don't want to spend $30 just for one subclass.

I have purchased the 2014 players handbook and I have the rogue at 3rd level but I can' select assassin for a sub class either.
Do you have legacy content selected? Did you choose Rogue (Legacy) as your class? Because if not, you are using the 2024 rules and you have not purchased the 2024 PHB in order to access the assassin subclass using those rules.
Ok so I own the players handbook 2014 and have legacy option clicked but still won't show me the assassin subclass? I am also level 12. its showing an assortment of subclasses but doesn't show arcane trickster or assasin

You're using the updated class. Scroll down further in class selection.
Why the hell can't I choose the assassin as my roguish archetype?!

InsidersAssassin is from the Players Handbook, and will require you to purchase it in order to use it.
