Game style: I copied and pasted my DM philosophy from our previous group's shared site, below (I use a Google site for organizational purposes, but as D&DB fleshes out, I'll probably move away from that). I run a session zero (for icebreaking, character creation, etc.) and normally distribute this at that time. A couple of things not noted in the philosophy outline:
I run a fairly violent game (nothing beyond what you'd see in Critical Role, but if you've watched Mercer DM, you know that he narrates some relatively gnarly deaths in combat).
Profanity is fine so long as it isn't insanely over the top.
For at least the first few sessions, we'd be booking a room in the Bown Crossing Library (just until we got to know the group well enough to bring the game into our home). Pro: those facilities have large flat-screens I'd hook my laptop up to (for D&DB and such). Con: No alcohol.
I run combat on a grid (either tiles, flip-mats or map packs) with Pathfinder Pawns and wet-erase. I just don't have the time for proper minis these days...
As mentioned above, we'd hold a session zero to get to know each other and roll up characters.
I run off-the-shelf 5e adventures in the Forgotten Realms. As with minis, I just don't have as much time these days for world-building and campaign authoring. That said, I do add a lot of my own flavor to the world, so it shouldn't be the same Forgotten Realms you've played in before. I'm pretty open to running the adventure that the group is collectively most interested in playing.
I own a legendary bundle and will turn content sharing on for the campaign. Since D&DB hasn't worked out the limiting of shared content, I trust PCs not to go peeking at the adventures.
My wife and I are both in our early 30's and are very chill people. I work normal office hours and she's a stay-at-home mom. There are very rare times when we can't find a babysitter and in those cases, we do normally have to call off the session. It's just so tough to have kids around while you're playing--we've tried.
My DM Philosophy
What I think D&D is...
Dungeons and Dragons is, at its core, collective storytelling. It's a game, but its a lot more--it's an immersive experience. Everyone at the table creates and explores a world through the collective imagination of the group. That whole experience is bound together by rules and dice, providing both structure and fate, respectively.
What I think the DM's role is...
A lot of people conceptualize the DM as the "god" of the game, controlling the events of the world and intervening in the lives of the characters. Personally, I see the DM as the arbiter of reality. The DM isn't a god...the DM is more like gravity. Gravity doesn't play favorites. It just is. If I drop a pencil, the pencil will fall toward the ground until it settles at a final resting point. Because that's what happens when a pencil falls. That's the DM in the simplest sense. The player characters (PCs) can do whatever they would like to do (or at least attempt whatever they would like to attempt) and the DM uses the rules of the game and the outcome of die rolls to interpret and explain the outcome of those actions.
How I see the relationship between the DM and the players...
Very importantly, I don't see the DM as an "enemy" of the players. Even though the DM embodies and acts out the roles of all the enemies and monsters to challenge the players, the DM doesn't want to destroy the characters (those enemies and monsters do!). The DM explains situations as they unfold, that "push" the characters. Throughout the story we collectively weave, characters grow and change and mature, and that's a product of the challenges they face along the way. Those challenges are what the DM is responsible for creating and running.
How I roll...
The game I run takes place in a world that's what some would call "high fantasy," meaning that magic is strong and relatively common, environments are colorful and run the gamut from beautiful and gorgeous to horror-based, and there are the full range of races, classes, and creatures.
Humor is welcome and encouraged at the table. I think the game is the most fun when there's laughter blended in. You don't have to take D&D super-seriously.
Actions have consequences. You can do whatever you want (one of the best things about D&D) but if you kill that rando villager for no good reason, don't be surprised if the rest of the village isn't happy about it.
Not everything in the world is designed for your level of character. You get to play a hero, with above-average skills and powers, but you are not invincible. Some situations require diplomacy, or even just some good hiding, to get through. On that same note, not every tense situation has to end with someone getting stabbed. Some situations can be diffused with tact rather than decapitation.
You might die. If it happens, it's totally OK. It is definitely not the end of the world. We'll roll you up a new character and drop you back into the world. There are ways to resurrect a dead character but it's not as simple as waving a wand. As mentioned in the previous two bullets, consequences have actions and there are some big scary things in the world that can eat you. If you charge up to a dragon and stick it in the pinky toe with your sword, the chances of being eaten are high.
What I see as the single most important responsibility of the DM...
There is nothing more important than the group having fun. D&D doesn't have "winners" in the traditional sense. The only real way to "win" at D&D is to have fun. If you have fun, then I have fun. And if we all have fun, then we all win.

Hey. I'm a seasoned (10+ yrs) 2nd-3.5 ed. player. I've never been a serious DM. I ran a box campaign, but nothing hard. I played Pathfinder for about 3 yrs as well, but never 4/5th ed. I recently moved here... about 6 months ago and I've been looking for a group. I don't normally get home until 630pm and week nights aren't great for me. Fri-Sun afternoon is best for me. So I'm fairly new to D&D I went to my first face to face D&D Game yesterday and the DM taught me the basics, I am still fairly new but I really enjoyed myself and wish to grow and learn more! I'd love the chance to do a campaign with you if you don't mind me being fairly new. I am 27, and I am a content creator / Editor for Twitch and Youtube so I have a fairly decent Mic set up.
My goal is to eventually produce a live D&D show on Twitch and Youtube but I figure I should probably learn more of the game first so I'd LOVE the chance to learn and play with you! Let me know, feel free to DM here! I also have discord if need be =) Looking forward to it!!
