Hey there Mr.Medieval man. If you are indeed up to the extremely difficult task of learning 5e after you figured out the other gems, (i am being facetious, 5e is simple compared to what you delved into before) I'd love to invite you into a Discord based, westmarch-style community. We'd be happy to help you get situated within the ruleset of 5e and we can offer you a wide array of games in different settings, mostly run in series of one-shots that your character(s) get to participate in, perhaps making their way into a more permanent role within a DM's world though their actions (as kinda is the westmarch style of play). We will never charge you a penny for playing with us and if you would like to flex your DM muscles, you will have the opportunity to do so as well.
If you are interested, please look at my post here for more details about our community and an invite link to our Discord. I think you got the 18+ yo requirment aced there. :)
Hello, been considering starting up a ground zero campaign, level 1, homebrew world building. Im a fairly new DM but have run a few campaigns over the past few years. free.
Tools everyone will need is Discord (PC or Phone). Beyond DND login. Roll20 login. All free. Books have a cost but rules are free and nothing needing to be purchased.
BTW VTT virtual table top gaming using map and character placement for exploration and combat orientation. The three most popular are Roll20, Foundry, and BeyondDND just realeased their own version their TTV this year, but im sure they have their own quirks to fix and QOL to add to their format/user interface currently.
my discord is, chris.live hit me up! maybe starting in a week or two, details to follow.

Drakiel the Bard, teller of stories, maker of dreams.
Both sound interesting. I’ll follow the links provided.
Ive managed to lay hands on a pretty complete set of 5e ebooks. So I should be set. One things I don’t know where they are, my dice… I guess everything is on computer now. Would like some dice to hold in my hand tho .
Although the computer dice sound effective, there's something nostalgic about actually throwing them yourself.
Part of things I'll be teaching is how to use Avrae, which does roll the dice for you. The main advantage is they don't get lost, or roll off the table.
Yeah, physical dice are nice, but these days, especially in online play, we use tools that make sure there is no cheating, so usage of things like Avrae or other ways to throw dice where everyone can see is more common. Unless you are a DM anyway, then you can decide where and how you roll yourself!

Working on a TTRPG, and your experience would be invaluable! If you'd like to play-test, I'd love for you to give it a look!
Are you still looking for a group?
Ya. I’m not really up for paying to play which seems to be the thing now.

Amedievalman, us oldies remember when games were for fun, not for making money.
I'm starting a campaign based on a game from 1991, apparently they call that 'vintage'!!
