I would be very interested in playing. I have been wanting to get some experience using Roll20 so I can DM a local group over it later on down the road. After reading the new released Mystic class, I think it would be amazingly fun and extremely challenging to play this class in a campaign. I will come up with a background for the character and I think its a really great idea to have the character backgrounds shape the world of your campaign. Let me know if you have room for an experienced player who is new to Roll20.
Im very interested in playing new to 5e but not DND if you are still looking for people to help create the world and play in the game reach out to me i am more then interested this looks awesome
Heya, I'm Rasmus! I'd love to play along! I live in the GMT+1 timezone in Denmark. I can play along in the weekends.
My character would most likely be a "LeFou"-inspired (Yea just saw the new Beauty and the Beast and thought it would be a fun character in terms of character relations) very charismatic High Elf Bard. He's come back from either a war or some type of mercenary work that has scarred him for life and even though he might've gotten used to the rough life of a soldier he has good morals. There's one person that he never leaves and feels completely lost without. Of course this is just one of my ideas.
Aaaaa so sorry guys, life caught up to me hardcore this past week. I've got some content to post when I get out of work and I've been enjoying reading everyone's stuff thus far.
What a fantastic idea! If you have the time to create a world that incorporates the backstories of the PC's, I think it's a worthwhile endeavor, and it could be extremely fun to play in that world.
I just rolled up an Aasimar Monk with the Haunted One background. Once he hits level three, I plan on taking him down the Order of the Long Death path. His name is Connor Lambert (and yes, there's a reference in the name :)
I'll just paste his backstory from the character sheet.
"To say Connor is haunted is like saying goblins emit a foul odor.
When he was just a child, no more than three or four, his family and his entire village were slaughtered by a mysterious and powerful entity. Connor was found by monks of the Order of the Long Death, who had gone to the small village to document the massacre and study the dead.
When the monks arrived, they at first took Connor for one of the dead, as he lay motionless in the middle of the main road, having nearly died of thirst, but they soon found him to be alive, just barely.
The monks took Connor in and raised him as one of their own, learning of his aasimar heritage very early on. Looking upon him as a special child, they trained him as a warrior, a protector of their order.
When Connor was nearly thirty-five, he overheard a conversation he wasn't meant to which caused him to suspect the monks knew something of the creature that slaughtered his family. At 37, after nearly two years of begging the monks for the truth and receiving only silence, Connor decided to take the matter into his own hands, leaving the monastery in hopes of finding the truth.
Connor now travels the region, searching for clues as to the identity of that which murdered his loved ones. His reason, however, is more to find out why he was spared than it is to discover why everyone else was killed, for it is no mystery why evil beings kill. It is their nature. The real mystery is why Connor lives.
Accompanying Connor are various spirits of those who perished in his village, or so he thinks. Whether the apparitions are actual or a figment of his imagination remains a mystery as well. They haunt him and torment him, jealous of him for his life, that he was spared. They constantly push him to make dangerous decisions, and although he doesn't give in to them often, occasionally his guilt over surviving when they perished results in him heeding their requests, and when he does, disaster isn't far behind."
Alrighty! Hope you can use something, even if your group is full. I'm a writer of things such as novels and comic books and I LOVE worldbuilding, so I'd be happy to help you flesh out your world.
I've been theory crafting a few characters: A kobold artificer who has 'assumed' his masters identity with the artificer guild, a scout rogue whose background as a fence has always given him an in to selling off goods, a mystic protector aasimar who knows nothing of her past and her 'imaginary' friend has done little to help her figure life out, and finally a half elf bladelock who is a story teller and follower of the prankster archfey.
I'd definitely be interested in playing and helping flesh out a world Lief, most of the characters are based on UA stuff for 5e and I'm free some evenings. My timezone is four hours ahead of PDT.
I'm interested in playing. I have a far traveling Scourge Aasimar Paladin/Warlock who is searching for an outlet for his burning divine rage. The Raven Queen was happy to help point him in the direction of countless undead and now he serves her out of gratitude.
I would like to play when do you plan to play ? Never played online like this before will love to learn .I had the idea of a shifter group of grypys and wise men distrusted in most setalment s as outsiders so stay to nature .Despite this my character goes off forsaking training as a wise man to find a bards guild to join among the larger city's away from all he knows .
I'd be interested in joining,I take it the game wouldn't be set in the FR? And if not Would FR based deities be allowed? My character would be a Moon Elf Ranger/Paladin of Eilistraee.
I would be interested but it seems you have more than enough offers. If you can handle it you could run a couple groups in the same world, it would help fill in gaps that just one group's backstory could leave. Otherwise if you want some people to run ideas by, I wouldn't mind helping.
Hey, I dont have the time to play, but id love to throw some ideas out there!
1) I have always thought the concept of having a part of the world teeming with darkness to be interesting, even if the portion is small. For example, deserts of black sand that the sun never touches, more cold than the frigid north and no less dangerous for those unprotected. Arid plains populated by the dead and led by a vampire lord, never settled by man for long as the dry climate negates plant growth for harvest. Mountain ranges untraveled for decades due to the high number of prior disappearances, but the only way to reach some other land, populated by strange creatures and the cyclopean ruins of strange aberrant cities. Maybe this is just a love for gothic and Lovecraftian horror showing, but depending on the group it can really lead to some fun roleplay.
2) Another concept that can lead to interesting roleplay and add lore to your world is to plant some forgotten ruins of long-lost civilizations in some of the far corners of the world. This can help support the creation of unique dungeons and magic items and make your world seem more lived-in. Also, if your party is really invested in your world's lore, it can supply them with a way to learn more and feel like true explorers.
3) I also find it can be fun to populate a world with countries and civilizations based on real world ancient cultures.
All of these are just suggestions of course, as I am going through the process of fleshing out my first homebrew world, but these things can give fun themes to play around with. I am really stoked to see where this goes though!

I'm looking for a game. I'm in the Central time zone. Have played 3.5 edition before, but looking forward to playing online.

Don't have a character in mind yet. I was thinking a wizard, as I haven't played in in a long while.
Your friendly, neighborhood Templar!
I will fill whatever role the party needs. I don't mind taking one of the less sexy characters lmao

Yes I played 3.5 a bit in high school, but I haven't played in years.

Any mountain range worth its salt must have a few roaming bands of goliaths. I'd love to brainstorm a few with you!
im currently building a monk and wanting to give him either a warlock or fighter background so let me know when you want to play and ill have it done
