One of the features promoted during the Marketing videos for the new rules was the ability to create custom Backgrounds. However, the Custom Background feature in the D&D Beyond Character Creation tool is not prsent. The option available is for the 2014 rules. It would great to have a tool that matches the guidelines of the PHB 2024 p. 177, Character Backgrounds section.
Tangaq they don't care. It's their way or the highway! I have dumped money into DDB for years. Why? Because it made running and playing the game so much more "easier". Plus I had the extra cash to subscribe. When the DDB app fails to deliver the support I need to run/play my 5e (2014) campaigns I will end my subscription.

It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion.
It is by the Beans of Java that thoughts acquire speed, the hands acquire shaking, the shaking becomes a warning. It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion.
I hear you and commiserate with you. It’s a shame but I will be doing likewise. Many of us are going back to in-person, old-school (paper), play with our existing books. Hasbro is driving WotC D&D into the ground. Ironic that they’re losing money by pushing everyone toward the old-school play mode (physical table-too board game media) that made them successful.
Bought the new book, can't access anything but the base sub-classes on DDB (so Fighter/Champion, Rogue/Thief etc) using the 2024 Core Rules. Does anyone know when the rest is going to be unlocked given that the digital book has gone live? Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere!

Did you buy in the app? That route is often slow (a day or so IIRC).
It's there. Make sure you have custom backgrounds switched on. You can then choose custom background. The ability score increases are then chosen under abilities.
The 2024 edition didn’t make me quit 5e. It just made me stick with the edition I’ve grown to love. I have a feeling though that I’ll be abandoning DDB within the next year or so. I do believe I’ll be using 3rd party publishers and home brew content for future games.

I'm happy I can use 2024 spells on the artificer now, but is there anything that can be done by the DnDB Team that will change the "Always Prepared" spells to 2024?
Any news on a "Disable 2024 content" slider, and re-enabling the ability to filter by books so people can exclude sources that include late 5.14 bad content like Rime's Binding Ice or Silvery Barbs?

Well said spydurjohn! I mirror all you’ve said - somewhat already there (another post I made). Keep up the good work!

Thanks folks, it's all fixed now :)
5th edition got me playing. 2024 made me stop playing.
