If we have the physical book, do we have to purchase it again digitally? Or is there some way to transfer what we have already bought to the app?
Even if you have the books, you must pay for a digital copy. Pricing is not yet announced, but there will be several solutions (one-time payment, small bundles solution, subscription).
I presume we'd be able to do the data entry ourselves from the physical books we own using the homebrew tools. So long as we didn't share them publicly?
Hmm I'm not sure how I feel about that...Maybe if future physical books come with a code to unlock it digitally? That would at least be a step in the right direction in my mind.

I believe you are correct in this assumption. I also think I read somewhere that all homebrew content is reviewed to make sure it isn't copy protected or have some non-appropriate information in it.

You mean anything attempted to be made public right? If we don't make it public then are we still considered pirating?
My understanding is that if we don't share it, then we should be just fine. I'll happily let a DDB person correct me if I'm wrong.
As for the digital code in a book-- I don't think I agree. I don't mind having to pay a fee to have the book content entered into the system. The digital format offers advantages the print book doesn't (and vice versa). The work to enter data into DDB will not be trivial (as anyone will find if they try to enter all the PHB data themselves). It's also worth noting that Curse is a separate company that needs to make money off the license separately. So the cost couldn't just be rolled into the cost of the physical book. Nor, really, do you want it to be. Some people will only want the physical book and shouldn't have to pay for the digital version. Some will want just the digital version and not want to pay for the physical book.
The key will be price point. Will DDB purchases be cheap enough to convince folks like me (who already own the print books) to put down more money. Or, I should say, will it be cheap enough to convince enough people to make the product profitable enough to make this whole thing worth Curse's while.
But that's just business. We'll see how well they thread that needle.
I see your point. I mainly want the digital codes for personal reasons, as I predict I'll want both version of the text, at least for more important books like the PHB and Xanathar's.
Totally understand. In a way it's like wanting a 'digital+physical' bundle with a discount. I suspect it'd be hard to implement (people opening up the books in the gamestore just to steal the digital code). They could probably find a way to do it online (order the book and get an email with a discount code). But I'm guessing they won't want to undercut gamestore sales.
Blah. Blah. Anyway, here's hoping that Curse has a brilliant pricing scheme worked out with WotC.
So how will this work for those of us that have already purchased all the books? I have 3 PHB's for my family as we all play and I don't like to share. But i really don't want to pay for a subscription unless my entire family can use it.

Correct. Anything made public is reviewed, at least that is my understanding of what I've been reading.

when do you guys think that there will be more feats
Won't have more feats until after the official launch sometime this summer. Would imagine the latter part of summer.

There's going to be full information available soon on pricing and account mechanics.
