Not everyone is used with handling homebrew tho, out of my group of friends, I'm the only one that has managed to get content through the homebrewing systems properly implemented, and even then, I have my mistakes. Why not leave the Archived section avaliable?
With public homebrew, you simply browse to it and add it to your "collection" - then you can use it for your characters. No building on your part required.
Last I checked, you need membership to add homebrew do your "collection", not to mention isn't publishing content that doesn't belong to you infringing the rules of Homebrew here in Beyond? Not to mention I did start a rework of the Bilgewater subclasses, the site itself stops it from being published due to being to similar. So people won't be able to upload such projects.
I have it covered for myself & friends, but we're not everyone.

re-read the thread, particularly the stuff in red boxes.
Firstly, I love this content and the partnership, even if it is temporary. Second, thank you for taking the time to answer so many questions. Third, in the process of creating the weaponry for the renegade I discovered that I can’t create a magical firearm. Do you have plans to either a) add firearms to the homebrew magic item section, or b) add a homebrew equipment section that is distinct from character sheet custom items?

I did, sure we can save it but what about those that come after?
Will there be other partnered content in the future or was there a licencing issue involved?
From my non-expert view as a Canadian tax lawyer, I think that one major reason it can't be offered indefinitely is because IP belonging to another party usually is subject to royalties that would have to be paid by DDB. If DDB has to pay to use the IP, as well as use its staff to implement the IP, after the promotional period of August 10, it makes no sense to keep it up. If you want to keep it, maybe try converting everything to PDF for "personal use" if you have such an exception in your copyright law?

You need a membership to do lots of the value-added stuff in DDB. IMHO it's more than worthwhile, especially if you can get your whole group to chip in.

I think you'd have to lobby DDB and Runeterra to resolve the royalties issue described above, then DDB would maybe be able to sell it for a flat price. Free, though? I'd be really, really surprised if that could happen.
Can't begin to express how unprofessional I feel this situation is. I hope the DND Beyond team learns from this and makes sure it does not happen again.
I enjoyed the Runeterra content so much that I would have gladly paid for it and any future supplements. Everything about it was leagues better than the lackluster Saltmarsh book.
Now if something like this is available in the future, and there was an associated cost, I will probably wait to purchase to make sure I won't loose my material.
I was hoping that this release marked the beginning of D&D Beyond developing relationships with third party developers, but it looks like WotC doesn't want you to do that. I can only assume that Riot didn't change their minds about this, so it leads me to believe that WotC doesn't want DDB to distribute third party content.
I certainly understand if WotC doesn't want you to make a public statement about this, but if you could it would be greatly appreciated.
It’s actually much easier for me to assume that Riot Games would be forcing DnD Beyond to pay royalties for the continued use and publication of their intellectual property. Which really sucks because as this thread shows, DnD Beyond is really getting the short end of the stick here. They obviously wanted to make this content free and permanent, but I’m assuming Riot Games put a stop to that. So really all that Riot Games brings to the table here is the Intellectual Property. DnD Beyond has done all the work creating the content to be suitable and balanced (to an extent), as well as distributing it. So they’ve done all the work only for Riot Games to send them a bill and when it was obviously not what DnD Beyond expected, they had to pull the content and are now made to look like the bad guys. Riot gets paid and doesn’t care, and DnD Beyond loses great content AND assumes the blame. Riot is the antagonistic one here, trust me.
Does this mean I can get an official release of Renegade now not tied to third party content that is AL legal? I like that class a lot but it being "Official Unofficial" makes it really wonky. Just take those mechanics and put them in an official book cause they're dope.

Poorly done, very poorly done.
You didn’t purchase anything, it was absolutely free content! Why do people keep saying stuff like this? No paid items have ever been taken down or blocked. The entire staff is exceptional at answering in forums and providing support and updates. Yes we were told “barring a natural disaster it wasn’t going anywhere” he admitted to the mistake and apologized. They did an awesome thing trying to give this partnered content and it came back to bite them. If anything users should be saying “ Sorry we are so needy and demanding all the time, especially the ones that don’t pay a dime to the site.”
The DDB crew clearly put a lot of effort in to this so I can only assume their hands are tied legally. Shame, but I'm pretty sure they don't want to remove it as much as we don't want it removed :-(

agreed - its a 60+ page document. i'm sure it took someone a decent amount of time to create that..let alone implement it online.
Thinking on this, what concerns me more was what Adam kind of touched on during last week's dev update. He answered a question about why they don't just move to the new platform now. I'm paraphrasing from memory here but he said something about not getting in to that as he didn't want to get *****y (not exact words I know!) and that they would if they were forced to. I'm hoping the DDB and WotC relationship is still strong and there aren't issues there. :-(
I think it would be fair to assume that there are some circumstantial changes that have lead to these change in events. I don’t get the impression that DND Beyond wanted this outcome for this content.

The links to the legends of Runeterra content appear to be Dead already?

Is this an issue with Riot or WotC?

I see what you did there lol.

I assume this is because Runeterra is competing with MtG?
