Upcoming - Not a Complete List
General Features System: Improved coverage for a wide variety of special rules, such as boons, blessings and curses. Simplified Character Data: Back-end improvements as a foundation for Combat Tracker updates and development. Dice Rolls for Combat Tracker: Monster statblock integration planned. Life Domain Clerics: Support for the Disciple of Life feature on the horizon.
(Some speculation cuz it's Friday night and I'm bored)
I'm looking at the progress here and it seems like a slow and methodical move toward a VTT.
First was the shared dice rolls
Monster stat blocks for dice rolls
Next will be the simplified character data so that it can mesh well with encounters
Here is what I anticipate/predict next on this path:
A DM screen: Game log with Access to Encounters without opening a new tab
Then for the DM screen: Customizable table options and organization.
Later, an adventure/Module editor (embedded into DM screen) - maybe it's just notes at first. Though this may come first. Textareas are simpler to manage and embed links in.
Imagine being able to create modules and sharing them here!
Finally, either through acquisition (probably a better option) or through having laid the foundation, open alpha VTT. This may take months (if they haven't already been working on some design ideas already).
Perhaps the biggest hindrance to this is storage space, speeds, and back end stuff. When the guy said during the Dev. update that it may take 18 months to switch over, I thought that this will be how long it takes to get to a space where DnDBeyond will be able to handle the type of load that a VTT will demand from their subscriber base. Though doing so will probably require a rethinking of the subscriptions to adjust for the type of server needed (I know nothing of servers).
Of course, this is pure speculation and wishful thinking on my end. I'm just really enjoying where this service is headed.
General Features System: Improved coverage for a wide variety of special rules, such as boons, blessings and curses.
So excited for this, but I truly hope we're not gonna get a repeat of boons (like with feats) being split into two or more, like "Champion of Whosit (STR)" and "Champion of Whosit (CON)".
And boy, am I gonna be disappointed if we're not gonna be able to homebrew boons like we can't homebrew Invocations, Maneuvers, Fighting Styles, and the list goes on. :(

Yeah, I agree. I would really like to be able to homebrew eldritch invocations.

Video Transcript:
Hey everybody, welcome to
a very special Dev Update.
3
00:00:09,140 --> 00:00:11,270
I mean, it's special because
it's my first Dev Update.
4
00:00:11,270 --> 00:00:14,250
So it's special for me, but
I'm very excited to be here.
5
00:00:14,250 --> 00:00:18,250
Very excited of course, to
be joined by Adam Bradford.
6
00:00:18,250 --> 00:00:22,740
We have some cool updates
to go through today
7
00:00:22,740 --> 00:00:23,700
with you guys.
8
00:00:23,700 --> 00:00:25,940
We have some special
guests to introduce you to.
9
00:00:25,940 --> 00:00:27,640
We're gonna start peeling
back the curtain a little bit
10
00:00:27,640 --> 00:00:29,610
and introducing you to
some of the team members
11
00:00:29,610 --> 00:00:33,620
that actually build
the D&D Beyond Toolset,
12
00:00:33,620 --> 00:00:35,640
so you can get to know them a little bit.
13
00:00:35,640 --> 00:00:37,970
And then we're gonna be taking
your questions throughout.
14
00:00:37,970 --> 00:00:40,010
So without further ado,
15
00:00:40,010 --> 00:00:42,770
Adam, would you like to take
the plane off the carrier?
16
00:00:42,770 --> 00:00:45,550
- Yeah, yeah, we can do that.
I've done it a few times
17
00:00:45,550 --> 00:00:48,270
so I think I still
remember how to do this.
18
00:00:48,270 --> 00:00:51,540
Latest updates upcoming like always,
19
00:00:51,540 --> 00:00:53,900
and the former mentioned special guests
20
00:00:53,900 --> 00:00:56,340
and then ask questions in chat so,
21
00:00:56,340 --> 00:00:58,460
preface it with the word question,
22
00:00:58,460 --> 00:01:02,220
and our magical little ritual spell thingy
23
00:01:02,220 --> 00:01:03,610
is gonna collect those throughout,
24
00:01:03,610 --> 00:01:05,910
and we'll try to get to as
many questions as we can
25
00:01:05,910 --> 00:01:08,180
towards the end of the stream.
26
00:01:08,180 --> 00:01:10,180
I wanted to call out too, since this is
27
00:01:11,090 --> 00:01:12,960
probably the last time that I'm gonna be
28
00:01:12,960 --> 00:01:15,530
putting together some of these screens.
29
00:01:15,530 --> 00:01:17,660
It's a little bit of a
walk down memory lane,
30
00:01:17,660 --> 00:01:20,310
even for me, because I don't know
31
00:01:20,310 --> 00:01:24,010
if all these years you
have even recognized
32
00:01:24,010 --> 00:01:26,510
that this happens, but these images
33
00:01:26,510 --> 00:01:29,360
on the screens that you're seeing there
34
00:01:29,360 --> 00:01:31,380
are updated every week.
35
00:01:31,380 --> 00:01:34,910
And so I've used some of them over again,
36
00:01:34,910 --> 00:01:36,710
like the ones that I really, really like
37
00:01:36,710 --> 00:01:39,011
but for the most part
it's like using new images
38
00:01:39,011 --> 00:01:41,640
every single time we come
together for one of these
39
00:01:41,640 --> 00:01:43,370
Dev Updates, and so I was feeling
40
00:01:43,370 --> 00:01:45,300
a little bit nostalgic last night.
41
00:01:45,300 --> 00:01:47,090
And since this is the last
time I was gonna be putting
42
00:01:47,090 --> 00:01:49,329
together these slides,
I actually went through
43
00:01:49,329 --> 00:01:52,680
and found the slides from
the very first Dev Update.
44
00:01:52,680 --> 00:01:55,780
And so it's gonna align
with what was there
45
00:01:55,780 --> 00:01:57,200
for the first Dev Update,
46
00:01:57,200 --> 00:01:59,790
primarily from Sword
Coast Adventurer's Guide,
47
00:01:59,790 --> 00:02:03,415
I believe here, but yeah,
those little things.
48
00:02:03,415 --> 00:02:07,060
Those are the little things
I'm gonna miss about all this.
49
00:02:07,060 --> 00:02:09,950
So, alright, today's
lineup we've gone through
50
00:02:09,950 --> 00:02:13,040
and let's talk about latest updates.
51
00:02:13,040 --> 00:02:15,650
So we are live with Class Feature Feats,
52
00:02:15,650 --> 00:02:19,210
if you've been looking for your infusions,
53
00:02:19,210 --> 00:02:22,610
invocations, maneuvers,
there are probably others
54
00:02:22,610 --> 00:02:25,570
that I'm forgetting right
now, but all of those Feats
55
00:02:25,570 --> 00:02:27,710
that you can pick up
for classes that are not
56
00:02:27,710 --> 00:02:30,960
your primary class, that is
live at this point in time
57
00:02:30,960 --> 00:02:34,310
and supported in D&D Beyond,
that one ended up being
58
00:02:34,310 --> 00:02:37,210
a little more problematic than we thought
59
00:02:37,210 --> 00:02:38,843
it was going to be, but,
60
00:02:41,529 --> 00:02:42,877
it was definitely a
61
00:02:44,434 --> 00:02:48,650
a big lift from the team
to get this in place.
62
00:02:48,650 --> 00:02:51,310
And I believe that the way
that this has been done is
63
00:02:51,310 --> 00:02:53,490
gonna set us up for the
future, when those kinds
64
00:02:53,490 --> 00:02:55,960
of curve balls are thrown,
should be able to respond
65
00:02:55,960 --> 00:02:57,390
to those a lot quicker.
66
00:02:57,390 --> 00:03:00,930
I was going to ask too,
like Joe, are we gonna
67
00:03:00,930 --> 00:03:02,540
introduce the guests now?
68
00:03:02,540 --> 00:03:04,402
Like where they can talk
about these things? Or...
69
00:03:04,402 --> 00:03:07,210
- Yeah, I think that's a good use of that.
70
00:03:07,210 --> 00:03:09,690
- That'll be perfect, let's do it.
71
00:03:09,690 --> 00:03:12,682
So, Joe, I'm gonna let you
introduce our guests today,
72
00:03:12,682 --> 00:03:15,030
cause they might have things
to say about this stuff.
73
00:03:15,030 --> 00:03:17,004
- No, no, that, that is absolutely fair.
74
00:03:17,004 --> 00:03:20,720
I think you guys have
met David Hartless before
75
00:03:20,720 --> 00:03:22,760
but very excited that David Hartless
76
00:03:22,760 --> 00:03:24,110
is joining us again this morning
77
00:03:24,110 --> 00:03:26,670
and also making her Dev Update debut,
78
00:03:26,670 --> 00:03:28,500
is Dani Sadczenko.
79
00:03:28,500 --> 00:03:31,470
So Dani, David, welcome to the show.
80
00:03:31,470 --> 00:03:32,750
Welcome to the Dev Update.
81
00:03:32,750 --> 00:03:33,583
Hey you guys.
82
00:03:33,583 --> 00:03:34,865
- Ooh. Yeah.
83
00:03:34,865 --> 00:03:35,698
- Hello.
84
00:03:35,698 --> 00:03:37,192
- Hey everybody.
85
00:03:37,192 --> 00:03:38,025
- Fantastic.
86
00:03:38,025 --> 00:03:40,110
- Before we jump into
updates a little bit,
87
00:03:40,110 --> 00:03:42,951
I'd love to, Dani we'll start with you.
88
00:03:42,951 --> 00:03:45,290
Dani could you just say hi
and let everybody kind of
89
00:03:45,290 --> 00:03:48,293
know what you do behind the
scenes over at D&D Beyond?
90
00:03:49,480 --> 00:03:51,470
- Sure. Hi there, I'm Dani.
91
00:03:51,470 --> 00:03:54,410
I'm a member of the adventure team.
92
00:03:54,410 --> 00:03:56,830
So we most recently
brought you the game log
93
00:03:56,830 --> 00:03:59,390
which is like super exciting.
94
00:03:59,390 --> 00:04:03,890
We also bring you dice and then
usually I'm kind of focused
95
00:04:03,890 --> 00:04:06,710
on marketplace things behind the scenes.
96
00:04:06,710 --> 00:04:09,393
So I've done a lot of that. I
was responsible for gifting,
97
00:04:09,393 --> 00:04:12,090
so if you've ever gifted on D&D Beyond,
98
00:04:12,090 --> 00:04:13,553
that was kind of my baby.
99
00:04:14,420 --> 00:04:15,970
So yeah, I've been here
for a couple of years,
100
00:04:15,970 --> 00:04:17,850
I've been working hard behind the scenes
101
00:04:17,850 --> 00:04:20,900
so happy to join everyone
on the Dev Update.
102
00:04:20,900 --> 00:04:22,860
- Welcome to it. Welcome to
it and thank you very much.
103
00:04:22,860 --> 00:04:25,830
And David, sir, could
you reintroduce yourself?
104
00:04:25,830 --> 00:04:28,900
- Yep. I am Dave Hartless,
I'm the VP of engineering
105
00:04:28,900 --> 00:04:31,880
for Phantom Tabletop, which is the part
106
00:04:31,880 --> 00:04:35,680
of fandom that focuses on
products like D&D Beyond.
107
00:04:35,680 --> 00:04:38,900
- Somebody got a
promotion. I'm just saying.
108
00:04:38,900 --> 00:04:40,354
I'm just saying somebody got a promotion.
109
00:04:40,354 --> 00:04:41,500
(laughs)
110
00:04:41,500 --> 00:04:42,333
- Yeah.
111
00:04:42,333 --> 00:04:43,166
- Congratulations.
112
00:04:43,166 --> 00:04:44,680
- Yeah. Thank you. Thank you, sir.
113
00:04:44,680 --> 00:04:47,339
I've been, you know,
114
00:04:47,339 --> 00:04:48,830
Adam's been my DM
115
00:04:48,830 --> 00:04:50,120
since day zero
116
00:04:50,120 --> 00:04:52,850
on this product. So, you know,
117
00:04:52,850 --> 00:04:54,590
I've been here from the start,
118
00:04:54,590 --> 00:04:57,210
I've really, really
enjoyed working with him
119
00:04:57,210 --> 00:04:59,610
and getting this product built.
120
00:04:59,610 --> 00:05:04,070
I started in this office
nine years ago this month
121
00:05:04,070 --> 00:05:06,300
when we were originally cursed.
122
00:05:06,300 --> 00:05:08,480
So we've been here quite a while,
123
00:05:08,480 --> 00:05:11,370
seeing this office through
a couple of transitions now,
124
00:05:11,370 --> 00:05:15,698
and, you know, fully focused
on building out this product,
125
00:05:15,698 --> 00:05:20,653
you know, for our users and
super, super happy and excited.
126
00:05:22,040 --> 00:05:24,060
You know, I don't have a bad day
127
00:05:24,060 --> 00:05:25,990
and I know that sounds a little cliche
128
00:05:25,990 --> 00:05:30,070
but this is just a dream
job for me, you know.
129
00:05:30,070 --> 00:05:33,420
So I've been been in
it since since day zero
130
00:05:33,420 --> 00:05:36,560
and look forward to
continue driving, you know
131
00:05:36,560 --> 00:05:38,340
Adam's vision forward.
132
00:05:38,340 --> 00:05:40,510
- Well, thank you too for joining us,
133
00:05:40,510 --> 00:05:43,241
and also thank you both for
welcoming me to the table.
134
00:05:43,241 --> 00:05:46,830
I know I really appreciate
it, but all that said
135
00:05:46,830 --> 00:05:48,180
people don't wanna hear about my feelings.
136
00:05:48,180 --> 00:05:49,607
Adam, they wanna hear about dice
137
00:05:49,607 --> 00:05:51,970
and they want to hear
these be talked about.
138
00:05:51,970 --> 00:05:55,530
- Yeah. So jumping in, we've
got a new subscriber Dice Set
139
00:05:55,530 --> 00:05:58,250
and Dice Sale, Dani or
Dave you want to jump in
140
00:05:58,250 --> 00:06:00,060
and talk about this a little bit.
141
00:06:00,060 --> 00:06:02,190
- Well, I mean, who
doesn't like dice, right?
142
00:06:02,190 --> 00:06:04,283
These dice are super awesome.
143
00:06:05,500 --> 00:06:08,140
We've had them behind the
scenes for a little while.
144
00:06:08,140 --> 00:06:10,070
I think they may have even
been like kind of leaked
145
00:06:10,070 --> 00:06:13,180
on a Dev Update or two if you
were paying close attention,
146
00:06:13,180 --> 00:06:15,400
but they're super cool. They
have a great grid effect.
147
00:06:15,400 --> 00:06:18,380
So they kind of like swirl
in this like blizzard,
148
00:06:18,380 --> 00:06:20,700
and then like, as the
dice go away, they kind
149
00:06:20,700 --> 00:06:24,530
of like just float off into
the snow. Really awesome set.
150
00:06:24,530 --> 00:06:26,890
Probably. I mean, internally,
it's one of our favorites
151
00:06:26,890 --> 00:06:29,980
that we've done and yeah
right now for subscribing,
152
00:06:29,980 --> 00:06:32,290
you can get it. So, I
mean, you can subscribe.
153
00:06:32,290 --> 00:06:35,630
I have to double check myself
but $2.99 for the player?
154
00:06:35,630 --> 00:06:36,463
- Yep
155
00:06:36,463 --> 00:06:37,860
- So, you know, $2.99,
and you get probably
156
00:06:37,860 --> 00:06:41,030
the most advanced set of
dice we have on our website.
157
00:06:41,030 --> 00:06:42,980
So it's a great way to kind
of get your feet wet with dice
158
00:06:42,980 --> 00:06:46,440
and get to like, you know,
try out those cool effects
159
00:06:46,440 --> 00:06:48,190
and see maybe what are
other dice have to offer,
160
00:06:48,190 --> 00:06:50,230
which we also have on sale right now.
161
00:06:50,230 --> 00:06:52,530
So super exciting. I keep
waiting for more glitter
162
00:06:52,530 --> 00:06:54,650
and more rainbows and
more unicorns in our dice.
163
00:06:54,650 --> 00:06:57,570
So just know I'm fighting
for that behind the scenes.
164
00:06:57,570 --> 00:06:58,403
(laughs)
165
00:06:58,403 --> 00:07:00,120
But until that happens this is really like
166
00:07:00,120 --> 00:07:01,010
the coolest thing we've done.
167
00:07:01,010 --> 00:07:03,220
- There's always tomorrow, always tomorrow
168
00:07:03,220 --> 00:07:05,610
for the rainbows and
unicorns and I can't remember
169
00:07:05,610 --> 00:07:07,173
what else you said but
it all sounded great.
170
00:07:07,173 --> 00:07:08,310
- Glitter. Always glitter.
171
00:07:08,310 --> 00:07:09,168
(laughs)
172
00:07:09,168 --> 00:07:10,640
- Yeah, glitter, there we go.
173
00:07:10,640 --> 00:07:12,850
And we do have a dice
sale going on right now,
174
00:07:12,850 --> 00:07:17,140
Mythic and Archmage's
Favor, which are, you know,
175
00:07:17,140 --> 00:07:20,270
kind of some of those fancy animated dice
176
00:07:20,270 --> 00:07:23,040
with the critical hit
effects. All of that.
177
00:07:23,040 --> 00:07:25,810
Those are on sale right now for $9.99,
178
00:07:25,810 --> 00:07:28,369
and they will be through,
I believe the 15th?
179
00:07:28,369 --> 00:07:31,230
Somebody fact check me there, 15th, yeah.
180
00:07:31,230 --> 00:07:34,550
So the 15th, and then we've
got a Valentine's Day sale.
181
00:07:34,550 --> 00:07:36,080
And Dave, I'm gonna let you talk about the
182
00:07:36,080 --> 00:07:40,253
Valentine's Day sale because
you are a romantic at heart,
183
00:07:40,253 --> 00:07:43,049
and I think it's best
for you to talk about it.
184
00:07:43,049 --> 00:07:45,920
- Ah jeez.
185
00:07:45,920 --> 00:07:49,580
I mean, who doesn't want to
give your special someone
186
00:07:49,580 --> 00:07:51,623
that special dungeon crawl, right?
187
00:07:52,549 --> 00:07:54,255
(laughs)
188
00:07:54,255 --> 00:07:56,980
I mean, who doesn't? So
yeah, so we're running a sale
189
00:07:56,980 --> 00:08:01,980
on Valentine's Day, 14% off all
of our digital source books.
190
00:08:04,050 --> 00:08:07,303
- Excellent. And then I guess
I'll take this last one,
191
00:08:07,303 --> 00:08:11,940
but, you know just latest updates
if you missed last week or
192
00:08:11,940 --> 00:08:14,490
any of the other programming
we've had in between.
193
00:08:14,490 --> 00:08:16,890
I am leaving Fandom in D&D Beyond
194
00:08:16,890 --> 00:08:19,210
in the next couple of weeks,
195
00:08:19,210 --> 00:08:22,300
and I've already talked about, you know,
196
00:08:22,300 --> 00:08:24,220
how big of a decision that's been for me
197
00:08:24,220 --> 00:08:27,470
and how special this
journey has been and how
198
00:08:27,470 --> 00:08:30,870
excited I am to see where D&d
beyond is going from here.
199
00:08:30,870 --> 00:08:33,340
And one of the people
that you are going to
200
00:08:33,340 --> 00:08:37,460
definitely come to know more
and more over the weeks here
201
00:08:38,610 --> 00:08:40,980
is a close friend of mine,
202
00:08:40,980 --> 00:08:42,170
is Joe Star,
203
00:08:42,170 --> 00:08:43,810
and so that is Joe.
204
00:08:43,810 --> 00:08:47,190
So Joe, I know we
introduced you a little bit.
205
00:08:47,190 --> 00:08:50,610
The last stream that we did,
I believe it was on Tuesday.
206
00:08:50,610 --> 00:08:52,720
What is time anymore? It's the construct.
207
00:08:52,720 --> 00:08:53,720
- Who knows?
208
00:08:55,003 --> 00:08:57,180
- But maybe tell people who are joining
209
00:08:57,180 --> 00:09:00,210
for Dev Update the first time,
a little bit about yourself.
210
00:09:00,210 --> 00:09:03,300
- Sure and you know, if
you wanna see Adam and I
211
00:09:03,300 --> 00:09:07,720
get really in depth about
food you can check out our...
212
00:09:07,720 --> 00:09:09,470
- French fries and peppercorn sauce.
213
00:09:09,470 --> 00:09:12,470
- Absolutely. If we ever
start a company together
214
00:09:12,470 --> 00:09:14,750
that's what it's called I think.
215
00:09:14,750 --> 00:09:15,583
- I like it.
216
00:09:15,583 --> 00:09:17,340
- But hi, my name is Joe Star.
217
00:09:17,340 --> 00:09:20,863
- I'm coming in to help head
up content at D&D Beyond.
218
00:09:21,740 --> 00:09:25,306
So there's been a lot of
questions as to what that means
219
00:09:25,306 --> 00:09:28,870
and what that doesn't mean.
So here's what that means.
220
00:09:28,870 --> 00:09:31,220
I'm heading up content at D&D Beyond.
221
00:09:31,220 --> 00:09:33,750
I'm not stepping in to run the company,
222
00:09:33,750 --> 00:09:35,453
I'm not replacing Adam,
223
00:09:36,410 --> 00:09:38,943
I'm not stepping in to code the website,
224
00:09:40,070 --> 00:09:41,623
I can't create dice.
225
00:09:44,597 --> 00:09:46,800
I'm just coming in to
sort of head up content.
226
00:09:46,800 --> 00:09:49,740
In the meantime, that means
I'll be a face you'll see
227
00:09:49,740 --> 00:09:51,740
on camera, a lot right now.
228
00:09:51,740 --> 00:09:54,950
Am I gonna be the permanent
face? No, probably not.
229
00:09:54,950 --> 00:09:57,470
Right now behind the scenes
part of my job is sort of
230
00:09:57,470 --> 00:09:59,420
assembling a new adventure party,
231
00:09:59,420 --> 00:10:01,983
basically to start bringing you guys,
232
00:10:02,960 --> 00:10:05,442
you know, the same kind of content that
233
00:10:05,442 --> 00:10:07,240
you're digging right now.
234
00:10:07,240 --> 00:10:10,650
We wanna really start taking
some big swings, content wise
235
00:10:10,650 --> 00:10:12,450
for what D&D Beyond is bringing you,
236
00:10:13,300 --> 00:10:18,300
and all of that to sort of
continue to be advocates,
237
00:10:18,730 --> 00:10:20,130
both for you, the audience
238
00:10:20,130 --> 00:10:21,590
the community that
we're building this for,
239
00:10:21,590 --> 00:10:23,670
and also, you know, an advocate for
240
00:10:23,670 --> 00:10:25,010
for the team behind the curtain.
241
00:10:25,010 --> 00:10:27,620
For Dani and Dave and everybody
that is just, you know,
242
00:10:27,620 --> 00:10:31,620
just busting their butt to
bring this product to you guys.
243
00:10:31,620 --> 00:10:34,823
So there's gonna be, you
know, some changes coming up.
244
00:10:35,930 --> 00:10:37,210
I think they're gonna be good.
245
00:10:37,210 --> 00:10:39,580
I'm really excited about, you know,
246
00:10:39,580 --> 00:10:42,160
the folks we're talking
to about coming on board,
247
00:10:42,160 --> 00:10:44,573
and the things we're
talking about, you know,
248
00:10:45,520 --> 00:10:47,440
bringing to you guys
and creating and making
249
00:10:47,440 --> 00:10:50,240
for you guys in the future,
whether it's on Twitch or
250
00:10:50,240 --> 00:10:54,702
it's on YouTube or it's
subscriber-specific content,
251
00:10:54,702 --> 00:10:58,110
you know, subscriber-exclusive
content, I should say.
252
00:10:58,110 --> 00:11:00,110
So I think there's some
really, really cool stuff
253
00:11:00,110 --> 00:11:01,160
coming down the pipe.
254
00:11:02,560 --> 00:11:05,840
- Yeah, thanks Joe. And
you know, I'll go ahead and
255
00:11:05,840 --> 00:11:09,320
kind of address another
piece of that because
256
00:11:09,320 --> 00:11:11,750
in any kind of transition like this,
257
00:11:11,750 --> 00:11:14,602
it is very prone to confusion out there.
258
00:11:14,602 --> 00:11:18,640
And you know, just a lot of
it happening at one time.
259
00:11:18,640 --> 00:11:21,237
But as you said, you're
coming into head content
260
00:11:21,237 --> 00:11:23,520
and I get the question a lot of, you know,
261
00:11:23,520 --> 00:11:27,280
who is Adam's replacement
coming in and I'll share a story
262
00:11:27,280 --> 00:11:29,990
many of you probably know
at this point, that I am
263
00:11:29,990 --> 00:11:34,300
a huge He-Man and the
Masters of the Universe fan,
264
00:11:34,300 --> 00:11:37,210
She-Ra everything else going on
265
00:11:37,210 --> 00:11:38,460
with that wonderful franchise.
266
00:11:38,460 --> 00:11:40,820
I'm literally looking above my camera.
267
00:11:40,820 --> 00:11:43,440
There's a giant poster that has, you know,
268
00:11:43,440 --> 00:11:45,980
150 of those characters battling it out
269
00:11:45,980 --> 00:11:48,258
in front of Castle Grayskull.
270
00:11:48,258 --> 00:11:50,910
- It would be a weird room
for you to be sitting in,
271
00:11:50,910 --> 00:11:53,320
if you didn't love them that much.
272
00:11:53,320 --> 00:11:55,300
- Yeah, that is very
true. That is very true.
273
00:11:55,300 --> 00:11:57,810
It's just very blurry back
there and they can't see it,
274
00:11:57,810 --> 00:12:00,880
but ultimately love He-Man
and Masters Universe,
275
00:12:00,880 --> 00:12:03,440
and one of the recent
stories of, spoiler alerts!
276
00:12:03,440 --> 00:12:05,790
Sorry about that. Just a second.
277
00:12:05,790 --> 00:12:10,150
But if you happen to
read the He-Man comics,
278
00:12:10,150 --> 00:12:14,470
there is a moment where,
you know, He-Man, King Adam
279
00:12:14,470 --> 00:12:17,360
at this point in time
in an advanced timeline,
280
00:12:17,360 --> 00:12:21,710
that he comes out at one
point and he takes the power,
281
00:12:21,710 --> 00:12:24,623
which is, you know what
transforms him into He-Man.
282
00:12:25,652 --> 00:12:30,110
And he disperses that power
across a group of people
283
00:12:30,110 --> 00:12:33,390
and this becomes the
He-Force and this, you know,
284
00:12:33,390 --> 00:12:37,420
almost Voltron-esque grouping
of people come together
285
00:12:39,486 --> 00:12:43,330
and become more powerful
than he was by himself.
286
00:12:43,330 --> 00:12:46,313
And so, I am not trying,
287
00:12:47,240 --> 00:12:49,400
at least not consciously trying,
288
00:12:49,400 --> 00:12:53,850
to compare myself to
He-Man, but I will say that
289
00:12:53,850 --> 00:12:57,630
a lot of the short-term trajectory here
290
00:12:57,630 --> 00:12:59,420
is there's not going to
be somebody coming in
291
00:12:59,420 --> 00:13:01,350
and directly replacing me.
292
00:13:01,350 --> 00:13:06,350
Instead, the team that has been
coming alongside and growing
293
00:13:07,790 --> 00:13:11,020
and we've been pulling in
leadership all over the place
294
00:13:11,020 --> 00:13:12,950
in the product engineering.
295
00:13:12,950 --> 00:13:15,040
And of course, we've got
engineering folks here today
296
00:13:15,040 --> 00:13:18,960
with Dave and Dani, we've
got on the marketing side
297
00:13:18,960 --> 00:13:20,620
and all the various functions.
298
00:13:20,620 --> 00:13:22,350
And then of course, with Joe and content.
299
00:13:22,350 --> 00:13:26,340
All the various functions
coming together, and you know,
300
00:13:26,340 --> 00:13:31,340
that power dispersal of the
power to become this force,
301
00:13:32,055 --> 00:13:36,310
this team force now is what
is going to be happening
302
00:13:36,310 --> 00:13:37,410
at least in the short term.
303
00:13:37,410 --> 00:13:40,870
So hopefully that's gonna
clear everything up out there.
304
00:13:40,870 --> 00:13:43,870
It's going to be better in those ways
305
00:13:43,870 --> 00:13:46,780
because there's only one
of me and there are many
306
00:13:46,780 --> 00:13:49,130
of these leaders who are
gonna be stepping up here,
307
00:13:49,130 --> 00:13:51,780
and this is actually a
pretty natural trajectory,
308
00:13:51,780 --> 00:13:56,459
a lot of times when these
kinds of products and platforms
309
00:13:56,459 --> 00:14:01,220
come off because it's just too
much for one person anyway.
310
00:14:01,220 --> 00:14:03,790
And so, I did wanna kind
of try to clear that up
311
00:14:03,790 --> 00:14:06,370
a little bit. Joe's gonna
be heading up the content.
312
00:14:06,370 --> 00:14:10,030
He's going to continue to
introduce you to more and more
313
00:14:10,030 --> 00:14:14,876
members of that team force
that is gonna be out there,
314
00:14:14,876 --> 00:14:17,800
who are wielding the
power fully, you know,
315
00:14:17,800 --> 00:14:18,913
amongst themselves.
316
00:14:20,460 --> 00:14:22,930
All right, let's see what's next.
317
00:14:22,930 --> 00:14:24,680
Upcoming.
318
00:14:24,680 --> 00:14:28,340
So general features system, Dave or Dani?
319
00:14:28,340 --> 00:14:30,150
You wanna talk about
this just a little bit?
320
00:14:30,150 --> 00:14:32,363
Like what that one's gonna be?
321
00:14:33,210 --> 00:14:34,340
- Yeah. I'll take this one.
322
00:14:34,340 --> 00:14:38,930
So there's, you know, a
concept on your character
323
00:14:38,930 --> 00:14:42,460
where you can gain certain
attributes, certain effects,
324
00:14:42,460 --> 00:14:46,350
you know, like if you join
an organization or, you know
325
00:14:46,350 --> 00:14:48,820
if there's something like
piety, which I think we saw
326
00:14:48,820 --> 00:14:52,167
out of Pharaoh's and we
have not handled those
327
00:14:52,167 --> 00:14:54,670
in the character sheet at all yet,
328
00:14:54,670 --> 00:14:57,870
and we've known that that's
a hole in our rules coverage.
329
00:14:57,870 --> 00:15:02,460
So we now have that on the
roadmap and are beginning work
330
00:15:02,460 --> 00:15:03,920
on implementing that kind of system,
331
00:15:03,920 --> 00:15:06,320
and we're building that
generically so that when
332
00:15:06,320 --> 00:15:08,200
these kinds of systems are introduced
333
00:15:08,200 --> 00:15:11,670
in upcoming and future
books, no spoilers there,
334
00:15:11,670 --> 00:15:14,690
I'm not saying they will be
but there's a high probability,
335
00:15:14,690 --> 00:15:16,440
that we'll be able to
cover those, you know,
336
00:15:16,440 --> 00:15:19,340
much more quickly than what
we've done in the past.
337
00:15:19,340 --> 00:15:21,870
So once we get this system built out
338
00:15:21,870 --> 00:15:24,720
you'll see those kinds of
things start getting added
339
00:15:24,720 --> 00:15:27,103
and exposed for your characters.
340
00:15:29,620 --> 00:15:32,730
- Simplified character data, Dave or Dani.
341
00:15:32,730 --> 00:15:35,080
Do you wanna just run
into that one real quick?
342
00:15:36,650 --> 00:15:37,483
- I'll take it.
343
00:15:37,483 --> 00:15:39,880
So, yeah, we tried to get, you know
344
00:15:39,880 --> 00:15:43,270
updated character information
on the combat tracker and even
345
00:15:43,270 --> 00:15:45,980
with like our amazing character
service that you heard a lot
346
00:15:45,980 --> 00:15:48,550
about last year, I don't know
if you guys know the size
347
00:15:48,550 --> 00:15:51,380
of a character and all its
data, but it's massive,
348
00:15:51,380 --> 00:15:52,990
and we don't always need all that.
349
00:15:52,990 --> 00:15:56,380
So right now because of everyone
using the combat tracker
350
00:15:56,380 --> 00:15:58,730
it just puts a pretty big
strain on that system.
351
00:15:58,730 --> 00:16:01,100
So the idea behind this is just to make it
352
00:16:01,100 --> 00:16:03,570
so we can retrieve that
important character data we need
353
00:16:03,570 --> 00:16:05,930
and do it efficiently so
that we don't, you know,
354
00:16:05,930 --> 00:16:07,960
negatively impact other
parts of the system.
355
00:16:07,960 --> 00:16:10,370
So this is really exciting
because this is kind of the start
356
00:16:10,370 --> 00:16:12,910
of being able to have live
updating character data
357
00:16:12,910 --> 00:16:15,690
in multiple parts of the website.
358
00:16:15,690 --> 00:16:18,080
- And we also hear a dog, so.
359
00:16:18,080 --> 00:16:18,913
- I'm sorry.
360
00:16:18,913 --> 00:16:21,690
- No, no apologies.
361
00:16:21,690 --> 00:16:24,450
You're gonna get in
trouble for apologizing.
362
00:16:24,450 --> 00:16:27,270
All dogs, all the time,
all dogs, all the time.
363
00:16:27,270 --> 00:16:29,740
- I have two wonderful
dogs and they do not like
364
00:16:29,740 --> 00:16:31,148
people to walk by their window.
365
00:16:31,148 --> 00:16:32,070
(laughs)
366
00:16:32,070 --> 00:16:33,790
I live in an apartment so
people walk by very closely
367
00:16:33,790 --> 00:16:35,770
and so they like to make sure people know
368
00:16:35,770 --> 00:16:37,510
that they shouldn't be loitering.
369
00:16:37,510 --> 00:16:41,320
- Yeah. No. As my cold heartless
regime kicks in for content
370
00:16:41,320 --> 00:16:45,730
all animals all the time, is
going to be our way forward.
371
00:16:45,730 --> 00:16:47,020
- That's perfect.
372
00:16:47,020 --> 00:16:49,500
So dice rolls for the combat tracker.
373
00:16:49,500 --> 00:16:52,440
I think this one is
pretty self-explanatory
374
00:16:52,440 --> 00:16:56,230
but we are wanting to get
to a point where dice rolls,
375
00:16:56,230 --> 00:16:59,440
like you're seeing on the
character sheet, are pretty much
376
00:16:59,440 --> 00:17:02,110
in any of the places where
there are dice expressions.
377
00:17:02,110 --> 00:17:06,290
So, you know, the next step
here is for the combat tracker
378
00:17:06,290 --> 00:17:09,290
and monster stat blocks. Over
time hopefully places like
379
00:17:09,290 --> 00:17:10,670
the Compendium and so on.
380
00:17:10,670 --> 00:17:15,360
So anywhere where you
see an XDX plus whatever,
381
00:17:15,360 --> 00:17:17,360
hopefully that's gonna
be rollable in the future
382
00:17:17,360 --> 00:17:20,410
and next step, monster
stat block integration.
383
00:17:20,410 --> 00:17:22,820
And I'm taking Lifeboat Domain Cleric,
384
00:17:22,820 --> 00:17:25,290
because this one's been around for a while
385
00:17:25,290 --> 00:17:28,280
and it is making the upcoming list here,
386
00:17:28,280 --> 00:17:30,030
because the team is starting to look
387
00:17:30,030 --> 00:17:33,300
at Disciple of Life healing bonuses,
388
00:17:33,300 --> 00:17:37,248
and this is gonna be one of
the bigger rules, exceptions
389
00:17:37,248 --> 00:17:41,290
and gaps that we've had over
the, last couple of years
390
00:17:41,290 --> 00:17:44,400
that is gonna be addressed now and so,
391
00:17:44,400 --> 00:17:47,790
there are gonna be more and
more of those special rules
392
00:17:47,790 --> 00:17:51,870
like that, that do not
conform to typical things
393
00:17:51,870 --> 00:17:53,610
that hit our modifier system.
394
00:17:53,610 --> 00:17:57,320
This is going to be something
that is going to be, you know,
395
00:17:57,320 --> 00:18:00,280
it's in that on-deck status
that the team's gonna
396
00:18:00,280 --> 00:18:01,350
be tackling very soon.
397
00:18:01,350 --> 00:18:05,210
So, looking forward to that
one being closed out as well
398
00:18:05,210 --> 00:18:09,810
and expect to see more of
those kinds of things as well.
399
00:18:09,810 --> 00:18:10,680
And then D&D loves stories.
400
00:18:10,680 --> 00:18:12,640
I'm gonna let you talk
about that one, Joe.
401
00:18:12,640 --> 00:18:17,390
- Sure. So today at noon,
we'll be back with just
402
00:18:17,390 --> 00:18:21,220
a cool panel to talk a
little bit about that moment,
403
00:18:21,220 --> 00:18:24,530
when we realized that we were committed
404
00:18:24,530 --> 00:18:26,890
to Dungeons and Dragons
for life, you know,
405
00:18:26,890 --> 00:18:27,723
just that weird little
406
00:18:27,723 --> 00:18:29,790
meet cute moment where you
realized that this game
407
00:18:29,790 --> 00:18:31,023
meant so much to you.
408
00:18:31,930 --> 00:18:34,320
What made you fall in love with it?
409
00:18:34,320 --> 00:18:35,870
Did you ever fall out of love with it?
410
00:18:35,870 --> 00:18:38,320
What made you fall back in love with it?
411
00:18:38,320 --> 00:18:41,150
Was New York a character
like in most rom-coms?
412
00:18:41,150 --> 00:18:42,110
We're gonna talk about it.
413
00:18:42,110 --> 00:18:44,460
Amy Dallen from (indistinct) in DC Daily
414
00:18:44,460 --> 00:18:46,425
is gonna be joining us and Sage Ryan from,
415
00:18:46,425 --> 00:18:51,425
I think every online tabletop
currently being played
416
00:18:51,750 --> 00:18:54,710
right now for D&D is gonna be joining us.
417
00:18:54,710 --> 00:18:58,100
And Adam's gonna be jumping
in that one with us as well.
418
00:18:58,100 --> 00:19:00,270
Just a nice little
celebration of all things
419
00:19:00,270 --> 00:19:01,513
lovey-dovey and D&D.
420
00:19:03,470 --> 00:19:06,430
- And that's today at noon, Pacific.
421
00:19:06,430 --> 00:19:07,520
All right, so.
422
00:19:07,520 --> 00:19:09,020
Yeah, we've already
got our special guests.
423
00:19:09,020 --> 00:19:10,580
Let's jump to some questions
424
00:19:10,580 --> 00:19:11,770
for at least a few more minutes.
425
00:19:11,770 --> 00:19:12,603
How does that sound?
426
00:19:12,603 --> 00:19:13,436
- Yeah, let's do it.
427
00:19:13,436 --> 00:19:14,269
- All right.
428
00:19:18,280 --> 00:19:19,283
Can I move them?
429
00:19:23,380 --> 00:19:24,603
Oh, gotcha.
430
00:19:25,440 --> 00:19:26,290
Okay. Got it.
431
00:19:26,290 --> 00:19:28,040
All right. Excellent.
432
00:19:28,040 --> 00:19:29,620
By the way, I wasn't talking to myself
433
00:19:29,620 --> 00:19:31,420
talking to our producer there.
434
00:19:31,420 --> 00:19:32,673
All right, here we go.
435
00:19:33,508 --> 00:19:35,440
So big hearted guy, can
we get a light mode?
436
00:19:35,440 --> 00:19:36,970
Asking for my cleric.
437
00:19:36,970 --> 00:19:39,120
I'm just not gonna spend the time here,
438
00:19:39,120 --> 00:19:42,161
sorry I should have reviewed
that one a little bit more.
439
00:19:42,161 --> 00:19:44,387
(laughs)
440
00:19:44,387 --> 00:19:47,710
So let's take this one D&D geezer,
441
00:19:47,710 --> 00:19:50,360
is there a timeline for a
VTT now that Trello is gone?
442
00:19:50,360 --> 00:19:51,193
How do we know?
443
00:19:51,193 --> 00:19:53,530
So, a couple of notes there.
444
00:19:53,530 --> 00:19:56,830
So the Trello public facing roadmap
445
00:19:56,830 --> 00:19:58,570
is sunset
446
00:19:58,570 --> 00:19:59,760
at this point in time,
447
00:19:59,760 --> 00:20:03,840
but truthfully we're not
missing anything there folks
448
00:20:03,840 --> 00:20:08,120
because like, that was
on me to be updating,
449
00:20:08,120 --> 00:20:10,760
and I have really dropped
that ball over the last, like,
450
00:20:10,760 --> 00:20:13,250
not even weeks, like months
and months and months
451
00:20:13,250 --> 00:20:14,870
that has not been updated.
452
00:20:14,870 --> 00:20:19,430
So as my bandwidth became
more and more slim,
453
00:20:19,430 --> 00:20:22,400
that was really not working to do the job
454
00:20:22,400 --> 00:20:24,010
of communicating what was going.
455
00:20:24,010 --> 00:20:26,800
The thing that folks really
do need to know out there,
456
00:20:26,800 --> 00:20:31,490
is we are absolutely marching
toward all of those places
457
00:20:31,490 --> 00:20:34,790
that we have been sharing
about for a year or two here.
458
00:20:34,790 --> 00:20:36,780
So things like VTT, yes,
459
00:20:36,780 --> 00:20:39,150
those are the directions
that we're headed.
460
00:20:39,150 --> 00:20:43,000
There will be new ways that
Joe working with the team
461
00:20:43,000 --> 00:20:47,310
will be communicating more
of what's going on there.
462
00:20:47,310 --> 00:20:50,700
But again, this was a tool
that was not going the way
463
00:20:50,700 --> 00:20:53,060
that it needed to.
Primarily I'll take that
464
00:20:53,060 --> 00:20:55,610
on my shoulders because
I wasn't updating it
465
00:20:55,610 --> 00:20:57,860
like it needed to be updated.
466
00:20:57,860 --> 00:21:00,170
The last thing I'll say there, is we don't
467
00:21:00,170 --> 00:21:01,840
provide those timelines
in the first place.
468
00:21:01,840 --> 00:21:06,470
So even that Trello board
was not providing timelines,
469
00:21:06,470 --> 00:21:09,920
it was just providing
the things that we are
470
00:21:09,920 --> 00:21:14,710
planning to work on. And
so no time boxing to that.
471
00:21:14,710 --> 00:21:17,540
So there will continue to be new ways
472
00:21:17,540 --> 00:21:20,200
that that is shared. Nothing has changed.
473
00:21:20,200 --> 00:21:21,760
It's not that any of
those things that were
474
00:21:21,760 --> 00:21:24,520
on that are things that
we're not doing anymore.
475
00:21:24,520 --> 00:21:27,801
It's just when that gets that outdated
476
00:21:27,801 --> 00:21:29,120
and it's not updated
477
00:21:29,120 --> 00:21:30,690
in a very long time like that,
478
00:21:30,690 --> 00:21:32,300
it actually can prevent it.
479
00:21:32,300 --> 00:21:35,900
It actually can make more
confusion for everyone reading it.
480
00:21:35,900 --> 00:21:39,370
So that's going away but
other ways of sharing
481
00:21:39,370 --> 00:21:42,120
that information are going
to replace it in the future.
482
00:21:45,140 --> 00:21:46,870
- Remember everyone, Adam
said that that was his fault,
483
00:21:46,870 --> 00:21:47,703
so blame Adam.
484
00:21:47,703 --> 00:21:51,610
- Yeah, definitely my fault.
I'll take that one for sure.
485
00:21:51,610 --> 00:21:53,040
Hard to remember that Trello board,
486
00:21:53,040 --> 00:21:55,410
when I have a hundred other notifications
487
00:21:55,410 --> 00:21:58,160
from the other things
constantly. All right. Let's see.
488
00:22:01,050 --> 00:22:03,140
Looking for, we've got a
lot of duplicates here.
489
00:22:03,140 --> 00:22:04,000
I'm trying to...
490
00:22:05,160 --> 00:22:09,900
Okay. Chaotic Cray something 920,
491
00:22:09,900 --> 00:22:12,620
will you be implementing auto
rerolls for abilities like
492
00:22:12,620 --> 00:22:14,910
great weapon fighting
style where you reroll ones
493
00:22:14,910 --> 00:22:17,490
and twos for damage in
the digital dice roller?
494
00:22:17,490 --> 00:22:20,133
So David or Dani you
wanna jump in on that one?
495
00:22:22,060 --> 00:22:23,940
- I don't have anything
specific to share about that
496
00:22:23,940 --> 00:22:27,380
right now but our goal is to
be able to support, you know,
497
00:22:27,380 --> 00:22:29,670
everything that can be done, you know,
498
00:22:29,670 --> 00:22:32,630
as a character, so we
certainly are looking to
499
00:22:32,630 --> 00:22:35,230
support more of those special
cases, as you can imagine
500
00:22:35,230 --> 00:22:38,880
there are a lot of them,
so definitely, we hear you
501
00:22:38,880 --> 00:22:40,850
and we are planning to
support that in the future.
502
00:22:40,850 --> 00:22:42,620
Obviously, no timelines or anything
503
00:22:42,620 --> 00:22:44,320
we can commit to right now though.
504
00:22:46,210 --> 00:22:48,197
- Excellent, another dice
question (indistinct),
505
00:22:51,834 --> 00:22:54,660
any plan to allow for
turning digital dice rolling
506
00:22:54,660 --> 00:22:58,360
on and off per character
on a per character basis?
507
00:22:58,360 --> 00:23:00,900
I have some characters I'd like
digital dice rolling on for,
508
00:23:00,900 --> 00:23:04,160
and some I don't, and I would
like to not have to juggle it
509
00:23:04,160 --> 00:23:04,993
every time.
510
00:23:04,993 --> 00:23:08,160
So maybe let's expand this
question to, you know,
511
00:23:08,160 --> 00:23:11,570
on enabling it on a per character basis.
512
00:23:11,570 --> 00:23:14,990
Is there also the concept of
potentially having different
513
00:23:14,990 --> 00:23:18,033
dice sets on a character basis?
514
00:23:18,882 --> 00:23:23,240
- So absolutely something
that we are considering.
515
00:23:23,240 --> 00:23:25,619
I don't know how much I'm
allowed to, like, answer here.
516
00:23:25,619 --> 00:23:26,650
(laughs)
517
00:23:26,650 --> 00:23:28,410
It's something I
definitely want to do, so.
518
00:23:28,410 --> 00:23:30,740
They shouldn't have invited
me here cause I, I don't know.
519
00:23:30,740 --> 00:23:32,035
Anyway, so yes, we do wanna do that.
520
00:23:32,035 --> 00:23:32,970
- No, you're doing perfect. (laughs)
521
00:23:32,970 --> 00:23:35,830
- We do wanna do character
specific configuration.
522
00:23:35,830 --> 00:23:39,070
That is definitely
something on our horizon.
523
00:23:39,070 --> 00:23:40,730
We hadn't heard that specific request to
524
00:23:40,730 --> 00:23:42,140
be able to disable it
for a character though.
525
00:23:42,140 --> 00:23:43,560
So thank you for sharing that.
526
00:23:43,560 --> 00:23:46,686
Definitely will take that
back to the team and yeah.
527
00:23:46,686 --> 00:23:48,700
I'm so excited to do
more things with dice.
528
00:23:48,700 --> 00:23:50,050
Dice are one of my favorite things
529
00:23:50,050 --> 00:23:51,500
that we have on our platform.
530
00:23:52,790 --> 00:23:54,690
- Excellent. All right. Let's see.
531
00:23:54,690 --> 00:23:56,530
It looks like we're
still doing a giveaway,
532
00:23:56,530 --> 00:23:58,600
so we might do a couple
more questions here
533
00:23:58,600 --> 00:24:00,620
while we make sure that we get that done.
534
00:24:00,620 --> 00:24:03,750
Congratulations, Saber Rider as the cleric
535
00:24:03,750 --> 00:24:07,330
on getting down the
reincarnated abomination.
536
00:24:07,330 --> 00:24:09,790
Congrats on that and good
luck to everyone out there.
537
00:24:09,790 --> 00:24:11,930
Let's see. So we've got...
538
00:24:15,060 --> 00:24:17,150
This one I'll use for Dave here.
539
00:24:17,150 --> 00:24:17,983
Dark Abyss Keeper,
540
00:24:17,983 --> 00:24:20,040
what's the current
biggest technical hurdle
541
00:24:20,040 --> 00:24:22,250
behind the scenes?
542
00:24:22,250 --> 00:24:25,899
- Ooh, people wanna see the
skeletons in the closet, huh?
543
00:24:25,899 --> 00:24:28,458
(laughs)
544
00:24:28,458 --> 00:24:31,880
Oh, you know, I would say
our biggest technical hurdle
545
00:24:31,880 --> 00:24:36,810
is part of our stack is still
running on top of SQL Server
546
00:24:36,810 --> 00:24:38,453
which is a problem for us.
547
00:24:39,345 --> 00:24:41,810
You know, performance wise, we're fine,
548
00:24:41,810 --> 00:24:46,580
but SQL Server is expensive,
more so than it should be.
549
00:24:46,580 --> 00:24:51,080
So we are still, you
know, trying to roadmap in
550
00:24:51,080 --> 00:24:53,930
technical debt projects to help us migrate
551
00:24:53,930 --> 00:24:56,620
off of that particular database.
552
00:24:56,620 --> 00:24:59,500
And, you know, we're doing that
a couple of different ways.
553
00:24:59,500 --> 00:25:01,030
Some of the new systems that we build,
554
00:25:01,030 --> 00:25:03,030
we're building outside of that monolith
555
00:25:03,030 --> 00:25:05,680
and they have their own
isolated data stores.
556
00:25:05,680 --> 00:25:08,840
Some of the existing features
we're gonna have to do
557
00:25:08,840 --> 00:25:11,250
data migrations out of SQL server
558
00:25:11,250 --> 00:25:13,950
onto other types of data stores.
559
00:25:13,950 --> 00:25:18,575
So that's probably our
biggest technical debt issue
560
00:25:18,575 --> 00:25:21,030
that we're gonna have to handle
561
00:25:21,030 --> 00:25:23,253
over the next 12 to 18 months.
562
00:25:24,930 --> 00:25:25,960
- Excellent. All right.
563
00:25:25,960 --> 00:25:28,170
We'll end with this one,
cause I've gotten this a bunch
564
00:25:28,170 --> 00:25:30,120
so I'll take a selfish one here.
565
00:25:30,120 --> 00:25:31,270
Puppet tar 12,
566
00:25:31,270 --> 00:25:33,250
hi Adam, are there any
updates to your planned
567
00:25:33,250 --> 00:25:35,920
Coldplay parody rock opera?
568
00:25:35,920 --> 00:25:39,090
That is gonna see the light of day.
569
00:25:39,090 --> 00:25:41,970
It's gonna see the light
of day in my new gig,
570
00:25:41,970 --> 00:25:45,210
wherever that is because
I've been working on that one
571
00:25:45,210 --> 00:25:47,900
personally for many, many months.
572
00:25:47,900 --> 00:25:50,920
And so yes, it will release
at some point in time
573
00:25:52,140 --> 00:25:54,240
inside my next adventure.
574
00:25:54,240 --> 00:25:56,000
So you can follow me on Twitter
575
00:25:56,000 --> 00:25:58,210
to get more updates about that.
576
00:25:58,210 --> 00:26:02,500
And then lastly, this one
was good adventure fight
577
00:26:02,500 --> 00:26:04,240
and this will be our
last one because it looks
578
00:26:04,240 --> 00:26:07,540
like we have given out the
bundles now. Adventure fight,
579
00:26:07,540 --> 00:26:09,440
is there a tutorial for linking
580
00:26:09,440 --> 00:26:11,583
the game log and Avrae?
581
00:26:14,760 --> 00:26:17,410
Dave do you know about that?
582
00:26:17,410 --> 00:26:21,270
- I'm pretty sure that Andrew was...
583
00:26:21,270 --> 00:26:25,350
Andrew is our engineer
and the original founder
584
00:26:25,350 --> 00:26:28,450
of Avrae, he's working with us now.
585
00:26:28,450 --> 00:26:33,170
I believe that if the
tutorial isn't already done,
586
00:26:33,170 --> 00:26:36,460
it will be in relatively short order.
587
00:26:36,460 --> 00:26:38,370
So there would probably
be more information
588
00:26:38,370 --> 00:26:41,630
about that on, you know, the Avrae site
589
00:26:41,630 --> 00:26:44,020
or inside the bot itself pretty soon.
590
00:26:44,020 --> 00:26:46,530
- Yep. So keep your eyes
peeled for that one.
591
00:26:46,530 --> 00:26:47,363
That's perfect. All right.
592
00:26:47,363 --> 00:26:49,700
We'll close there, gentlemen.
I'll let you take us out.
593
00:26:49,700 --> 00:26:52,290
- Great. Well again, Dani,
Dave thank you guys so much
594
00:26:52,290 --> 00:26:54,253
for joining us. Really appreciate it.
595
00:26:56,260 --> 00:27:00,670
Adam, still up in my feelings
about this being our first
596
00:27:00,670 --> 00:27:03,690
and last great ride
together after talking about
597
00:27:03,690 --> 00:27:05,303
doing this for so long.
598
00:27:07,804 --> 00:27:09,690
I have plenty of chances
to force you to cry
599
00:27:09,690 --> 00:27:11,674
and feel emotional before you get out.
600
00:27:11,674 --> 00:27:12,507
(laughs)
601
00:27:12,507 --> 00:27:13,460
I promise you we'll be doing that.
602
00:27:13,460 --> 00:27:14,867
In fact, just as a tease,
603
00:27:14,867 --> 00:27:16,130
- Challenge accepted.
604
00:27:16,130 --> 00:27:19,290
- next week's Dev Update,
we'll be introducing
605
00:27:19,290 --> 00:27:21,180
some more team members.
606
00:27:21,180 --> 00:27:23,330
We will be well, you know what?
607
00:27:23,330 --> 00:27:25,340
I keep talking about how
important community is?
608
00:27:25,340 --> 00:27:27,340
I keep saying it, I keep
saying it, so next week
609
00:27:27,340 --> 00:27:29,543
you're gonna meet Melly,
610
00:27:30,400 --> 00:27:32,472
who's holding this community together,
611
00:27:32,472 --> 00:27:34,590
doing an absolutely amazing job.
612
00:27:34,590 --> 00:27:36,730
So next week, you're gonna meet Melly.
613
00:27:36,730 --> 00:27:38,860
Very excited about that.
614
00:27:38,860 --> 00:27:40,510
And then we're going to do a bunch of
615
00:27:40,510 --> 00:27:44,200
emotionally manipulative
things to get Adam
616
00:27:44,200 --> 00:27:47,883
into his feelings, to see
him off and wish him well.
617
00:27:48,810 --> 00:27:51,410
We'll see you guys today
at noon, Pacific time
618
00:27:51,410 --> 00:27:53,020
for D&D love stories.
619
00:27:53,020 --> 00:27:56,873
We'll be back on Tuesday
to do a little bit
620
00:27:56,873 --> 00:27:59,280
more one-on-one with Adam and I,
621
00:27:59,280 --> 00:28:02,040
and then we'll see you next
week for the Dev Update.
622
00:28:02,040 --> 00:28:02,873
Thanks everybody.
623
00:28:02,873 --> 00:28:03,706
Be well.

Excellent job. It's very appreciated.
(Some speculation cuz it's Friday night and I'm bored)
I'm looking at the progress here and it seems like a slow and methodical move toward a VTT.
Here is what I anticipate/predict next on this path:
It seems that the life domain cleric healing bonus has been fixed now!
Oh, that would be lovely! I just checked one of my life clerics, and I'm not seeing that at all. What are you seeing that indicates this?

So excited for this, but I truly hope we're not gonna get a repeat of boons (like with feats) being split into two or more, like "Champion of Whosit (STR)" and "Champion of Whosit (CON)".
And boy, am I gonna be disappointed if we're not gonna be able to homebrew boons like we can't homebrew Invocations, Maneuvers, Fighting Styles, and the list goes on. :(
Yeah, I agree. I would really like to be able to homebrew eldritch invocations.
