Not wanting to risk conflict, and not entirely trusting Perrin's pies, Shanolia takes this moment of conversation to slip into the crowd undetected and sift through until she's behind the other group of contestants.
Zamar steps forward and flashes his most winning smile. He bows low and says “My dear woman, you misunderstand. We are not participants. We are plants. Lord Viscardi seeded us into his experiment. We are merely reporting in. We won’t be but a moment.” He turns to Lera. “What was it he was telling us?”
Lera scrunches up her face and thinks for a moment. “I want an assessment of their numbers and capabilities. Report this to me and only me. I will have instructions for your next move.”
”Exactly. And I don’t want to keep him waiting. So if you would excuse us.” He smiles again and attempts to sweep past her. (Persuasion/Deception without advantage: 14, with advantage natural 20)
"What do you have there, little guy?" The half-elf asks. Perrin is decked out in shiny armor, but he's still a halfling. How tough could he be? The half-elf walks up to the halfling and kneels down when he gets close. "We just want the list, little man. That's it."
As the half-elf walks over to Perrin, the other two make their way closer to Koll. Their focus is squarely on those two when Shanolia slips into the crowd. As the half-orc gets closer to Koll he puts his arms up to indicate he means no harm. The human keeps a smirk on his face the whole time.
Zamar's smile completely takes the young proprietor by surprise. She attempts to say something, but words seem to fail her. As Zamar and Lera walk past her, she finally regains some composure. "He's... he's not here, sir. He said he was going to meet the groups at the Blade and Stars tonight when they perform." Almost as if she had forgotten herself, she asks, "Were you looking for a room?" You can stay here, if you like...
Perrin continues to smile even as the half-elf and his friends began to come uncomfortably close to Perrin and Koll. Wait. Where did the elf go? Perrin cannot help but think. Not thinking about it too hard he'll just begin to talk to the half-elf.
"Why its nothing more than a Cherry Pie. It's my Ma's recipe. Best Cherry Pie around. We don't want a fight. How about we just talk over this nice pie and exchange some information. I know where you can get a space hamster. I'm sure you guys have your own leads on where to retrieve some stuff from the list. Let's just try and help each other out. Maybe if we tie Lord Viscardi will have to take both groups."
Perrin ends his plea with a bigger smile but he also cannot help but hear Koll's conversation with the half-orc. //Persuasion (Perin): 22//
It sounds like Koll was trying to make a threat at them but as he attempted to lower his voice he just ended up coughing half-way through his statement. Perrin hopes that Koll's botched Intimidation attempt doesn't hurt his peace offer. //Intimidation (Koll): 7//
"So you already found the beggar at the gate huh?" The half-elf asks, not really caring for the answer. "Yurt scared him off so he won't be back for at least a tenday. Looks like we're the only two with the Ranger's precious hamster." He lets out a deep breath, "One last chance... trade lists, or we take yours." When he says this he stands, hand on a dagger with an expecting look on his face.
The half-orc lets out a growl of his own at Koll. He lowers his hands and puts one foot back to brace himself in case Koll tries anything.
The human's smirk suddenly disappears. "We'rent there three of you?"
Singe stops suddenly. "Ack! No! This won't work! Blast this damn thing!" He grumbles, rubbing his temples, "I'm terribly sorry Woe, this has been the completely wrong way to approach this. I know a member of the Flaming Fist, Alton, but I'm not sure about his standing with them. I also know a tailor, Paela, who might get us some very large undergarments and she also knows Alton so she might be able to help find him." He whimpers "And we're losing time!" He turns around and starts speed walking towards Paela's shop.
"Singe, what was your plan? Maybe I can be able to help? You know, I have resources in this city too!
Also, while you were running everywhere, I re-read the last print from Baldur's Mouth and there is a Bard Contest advertised at midnight - with the chance to win a 1000GP diamond!!! So whatever we're doing in the meantime, I NEED to get there so I can perform!! This is our best chance of getting that diamond without having to steal it!!"
"Also, did you put that Kenku feather in a safe place? I really don't want to lose it/get it stolen from us!" Woe whispers to Singe.
"No, that's alright," Lera shook the woman's hand. "But thank you so much for your help! We'll be back later." The aasimar gave a wink to the woman before leading her father outside. "Curiouser and curiouser," she muttered in Celestial. "What do you think, dad? It's a given that we will speak to him during the Bard Contest, but that's hours away. We might as well try to cross a few things off the list..."
Singe slows, "Ok. I'm sorry. I'm not used to running around looking for things. My adopted sister Paela is a tailor, her brother, Alton, is a member of the Flaming Fist. Alton and I aren't on the best of terms, but Paela and Alton see each other regularly. So she might know to find him. That's undergarments and the insignia. If we're lucky, Alton also knows where to find counterfeit coins."
Singe opens his book, the feather is pressed between two blank and scorched pages, "There's nowhere safer."

"Thanks for telling me. It seems it really is the place to go! If we can get all three items, that would be fantastic!"
Seeing as this new group isn't content with making peace Perrin does the only thing he can think of. He quickly throws his Ma's Cherry Pie into the face of the half-elf effectively blinding him. Perrin not wasting any opportunity his training as a guard kicks in and he quickly maneuvers his backpack back onto his back and brandishes his shield. Holding it out in a defensive position. Ready for a counterattack.
Taking advantage of the chaos, Shanolia quickly glides behind the Half-Elf and hits the back of his head with the handle of her Rapier, knocking him unconcious in one single blow.

Your quick trek across the city ends up taking quite a while. While you're able to pace yourself and weave in between the crowds, you always find yourself being held up by an elderly Baldurian or a group of kids playing dragon dice on the street. One of the wonderful truths of Baldur's Gate is that large animals is not allowed inside the city gates. It would be nice to part the crowds with a horse. Eventually you find yourselves in the Eastway District heading North towards the Basilisk Gate. Singe's familiarity with the city is impressive, as he leads Woe right up to the front door of Paela's tailor shop.
Though it has been some time since he's had to strike another person, Koll's training is instinctive. He delivers a hard blow to the human, doubling him over with a punch to the gut. (21 to hit/7 dmg). In the same movement he swings out at the half-orc, slapping him hard across the face (16 to hit/4 dmg). He settles into an open fighting stance, ready to defend against their retaliation.

The half-orc, rubbing his cheek, stared in bewilderment at Koll. "Man," he grumbled. "This isn't worth the effort." With that, he began to run out of the alley. The human, holding his stomach, began to back up, slowly. "That... that was just... rude," he wheezed. He raised his hands as he walked backward. "Fine, fine. Have it your way. Good luck with the hunt!"
"Give us the hamster," Koll said.
"Give us the list," Perrin added.
"Or give us your lives," Shanolia interjected.
The human continued to back away from the group, hands in the air. He slowly smiled and pointed at the unconscious half-elf at Perrin's feet. Just then, someone from the crowd began to scream. "Guards! Get the guards here now!"
Your senses are assaulted with the smell of berries as the door opens. The smell is odd coming from a tailors, but the explanation is clear when you see three halfling children stomping their feet in buckets of berries. Dyes are expensive, but if you can make your own dye you've got a leg up in the competition. "Uncle Singe!!" One of them says. She looks tempted to jump out of the berry bucket to hug him with the full enthusiasm of a halfling child, but she's been scolded in the past for walking around barefoot with berry-juice between her toes. Instead she waves, followed by the waves of her other two siblings.
A various assortment of clothing representing the latest fashion in Baldur's Gate makes up the bulk of the inner shop. As the bell sounds indicating a customer, you can hear the approach of the proprietor. "We have the latest fashions from Baldur's Gate to..." The sales pitch is stopped short when he sees who has come to visit. "Singe!" He says. "To what do we owe the pleasure?" He gives the children a look and they quickly resume their stomping.
Perrin; seeing the human pointing at the half-elf and someone calling for the guards he quickly searches through the half-elf's pack and retrieves a wooden hamster from it.
"I got the hamster(?)." Perrin says in a quick slightly confused voice. "Someone else must have the list. Quickly, grab the human and let's get out of here."
Perrin will the hamster in his own pack and wait to see what his compatriots do but he is ready to book it.
"Toddrick!" Singe says with a smile, "The long and short of it is that I and my friend here are participating in a scavenger hunt to become members of a new adventuring guild. One of the items is some extra extra extra large undergarments, gender and race are not a concern. Also, is Paela around? I need to find Alton."
"The relevant equation is: Knowledge = power = energy = matter = mass; a good bookshop is just a genteel Black Hole that knows how to read." - Terry Pratchett
Koll shakes his head. "They act like we're the bad guys. Let him go. The half-elf has the list, I'm sure of it." He goes over and quickly rifles through the unconscious half-elf's clothes. "Lint...more lint...and the list! Haha!" He calls out to Shanolia. "We have the list! Quickly, guards are coming!"
Koll and the others quickly make their way in the opposite direction from which they hear the guards coming, and blend in with the crowd. They exchange triumphant smiles.
"Anyone still curious about why that one man kept smiling?"
