Since the fall of the Grand Duchy of Geoff, the refugees and defenders of that once great nation have been gathering their strength in the Town of Hochoch. From this last bastion of the Duchy, the displaced King, Owan I, has been planning the re-conquest of his lands. In order to ensure his supply lines, the King has needed to pacify the lands to the east of the city, for this is where the food and raw materials that feed his army come from.
Recently one of the strongholds on this Borderland, Grimwell's Keep, has been reporting a buildup of humanoid creatures in the area. A place known as the Caves of Chaos seems to have become a rallying point for all manner of foul creatures...from orcs and goblins to some say trolls and even worse. A call for adventurers has gone out and those who show an interest in assisting the crown are to meet in a small tavern down on the docks called the Black-Briar, run by a dwarf know as two-ax Harry. A representative of the King will be there to meet with and choose who will be awarded this task.
The hard-packed earthen floor is strewn with rushes of various age. The smell of this rotting flora battles the stench of stale ale and unwashed bodies. The furniture is a combination of scraps of wood nailed together in a semblance of tables and chairs and actual furniture which has been repaired so many times that very little of the original work can be seen. A large fireplace can be found taking up most of the far wall. A small peat fire burns in the grate and keeps the room slightly warmer than the temperature outside, with the added benefit of a poorly drawing chimney which sends smoke wafting into the room. Two grimy windows let in little natural light, and the thin skin coverings are torn and ripped, requiring the ill-fitting shutters to be closed almost all the time to keep the foul weather out. The room is mostly lit by rush-torches, fit into brackets around the room. The smell of the burning torches adds to the overall funk in the room.
As I am new to this forum, what is normal? I thought it was just started here instead of opening a new thread...or can you open a thread within this one. On Pazio each thread usually has a recruiting tab, a discussion tab and a play tab, but I did not see that here...am I missing something?
Okay then. In that case, Garvin is already in the tavern, sitting at a table near the wall so he can keep an eye on the crowd, and working on a tankard of something that might possibly be related to beer.
After hearing the rumors of the crown looking for aid, i’ve headed to the tavern “Black-Briar”. As i’m always eager for adventure, to solve mysteries and to strenghen my tome, i directly head up to the barkeep.
“Hey man, do you have anything to eat? Also, is the representitive of the crown arrived yet?” . While chatting i grab an ale from the barkeeper while ordering some local food.
"Names Harry, and we have no food here, just drink. Whatcha have, ale or mead? I have some wine, but it's a silver a mug."
There are about 10 or so people crowded into this small taproom. You soon have people bumping and knocking into you. Only the well-dressed representative of the crown seems to have any room around him. Most of the people here seem only to be looky-loos, while sprinkled here and there are what look like actual adventurers.
A tall wood elf cloaked in black takes a seat in the corner of the tavern and orders up some ale. He has traveled far from Kastelios in search of gold. His bright green eyes scan the room and evaluates each of the adventurers. Patiently, he waits for the King’s envoy.
As the number of people arriving ebbs, the well-dressed courtier nods to the barkeeps and then stands.
"Ok, here is the pitch. We are trying to get ready for a push back into the Duchy, as most of you already know. What you might not know is our supply lines are being attacked. We have tracked it down to an area just outside an old fort on the borderlands called Grimwall Keep. We need a group to go to the keep and see if they can discover what is happening to the caravans and get our supplies back. Each member of this charter will receive 50gp and may retain any booty found during the investigation that is not part of any of the missing caravans. Any questions?"
do it! :-)
Ok, I will get our starting post out a little later today. Sorry, it dragged on a bit...work has been pretty heavy this week.
no worries, take your time... and a better play will be!
Sounds good

Do we make a new forum topic to play, or respond to this one for playing? Will start according to that:)

Looking at some of the other threads, it looks like we can just start on here, so lets do it!!! :-)
So are we already in the tavern, or do we announce ourselves coming in?
Please set the scene for your character, so they can be already in the place, or just arriving...

He remains standing, waiting for any questions.
(Can my gnome cleric still join? I had a really busy work week, sorry.)
your already in the game Polly...so no problem!! :-)
Fenyore stood up on her chair and waved her small arm, trying really hard to make sure she would be seen.
"Does anyone know what could be attacking them? Is there any stories about what's in the woods in that area?" She shouted, hoping to be heard.
