Especially if that Tyrant thing is as big as you claim. Like to have me an enchanted blade. I have more questions but they can wait until dinner. Meself is going to nap on the way back. Shaede eyes the gold in the mans hands with an eager greed. "Yes, let's get paid up front, and I do expect you to explain everything at dinner." Thinking of a warm meal in his stomach, Shaede relaxes for the ride back to the house.
Tarvyn informs you that enchanting weapons is not a skill he, or any of his staff possesses. There are many enchanters in the cities though and he recommends a couple. He does give you access to his workshop though, which is fully stocked with anything you might need to create arms or armor. Basing this on the actual 5e crafting rules: You can create up to 5gp worth of items per day (you can craft a butter knife that costs 5gp in one day or a suit of armor that costs 50 gp over 10 days) You also have to be proficient in tools relating to what your crafting (smiths tools, artisan tools, carpentry tools, etc.) But since you are at a fully stocked workshop I will say you can make up to 10gp per day, as long as you have a proficiency in related tool sets.
With your scales and spike you could make:
Ankylosaurus Plate Armor which is an 18AC and acts as medium armor instead of heavy, which would cost 1500gp or 15 days of crafting; or
Ankylosaurus Spike Maul, which would be a two handed weapon dealing 2d6 damage, which would cost 20gp or 2 days of crafting.
Or if you have another idea you could ask and I can let you know if it is possible :)

After a quiet ride back, you return to the huge manor. There is a roaring fire in the fireplace, and Charmaine already has a meal set at the table. You see enormous potatoes stuffed with meats and cheese, piled high with all manor of vegetable. There is a large fruit bowl in the center of the rectangular table. As you walk in, Tarvyn goes straight to his map and begins studying it intently. He disappears briefly before reappearing with a bag of gold for each of you. "Here you are, 200 gold each, up front, and after we test run the rest of the island you will receive double the amount I had budgeted for paying testers." He sits down at the table and begins pouring himself a drink. "If you have questions feel free to ask, but I don't know how much help I can be... I have a lot of questions of my own right now..."

Shaede
Shaede sits down and starts to eat his meal. He starts in on the man, "Tarvyn, as I told you out there, we deserve answers about this place. Please tell us how you create these beasts and how you control them. You know, Gwythian noticed that Brutus was being controlled somehow. Was that you, and if so, how? Finally, I want to know what this little walk about in your park actually entails. Where will we be going and what do you expect of us?"
Shaede sits at attention watching the man's every move looking for any sign that he may be misleading the party.
Tarvyn sighs deeply before speaking; "I have but a limited understanding of the arcane, as I said, I am gifted scientist however. I studied at the most prestigious and elite school in Ralohice, one that is not even known by the public. In fact, I was on my way to becoming the royal scientific adviser." He lets out an exacerbated chuckle, "What a life that would have been.... In my free time I started experimenting with the idea of infusing the arcane and the scientific into one artifact, something that could enhance the users arcane ability and their scientific ability simultaneously. After many failed attempts I finally developed something that worked." He stands and walks to the map in the den. Putting his finger in the center of his island he begins calling to you from the other room, "Right here, this is where I keep it. I call it The Summoner Stone. I found that when used properly I can summon beasts far superior to any wizard that has ever lived before me, or any that will live after. I never know what's going to show up when I use it, but it's always amazing. But the truly incredible part is that once I summon them, they don't disappear over time, they aren't incorporeal, there is no trick or scam... with The Summoner Stone, I create life! Real, breathing, bleeding life!" He can't contain his excitement as his passion begins to well up. He composes himself for a moment and returns to the table. "You see, I could have easily used this power to raise an Army and take an entire nation as my own, but I am not a fighter, never have been. And, I love my creations, it pains me to see them suffer, I couldn't imagine seeing countless of them lost in a senseless war. So, I used my inheritance, and the money I had begun to earn from my own endeavors, and bought this place. I have made it into the perfect environment for my creations, so that they may live well." He takes a bite of his potato and looks back at you, "I train them the way any master trains a pet, with love and care. I don't teach them tricks for show or anything, I just teach them to ignore human folk and to stay away from the manor, because as you can imagine, some of them could crush this place with one false step." He leans in closer and lowers his voice to a more hushed tone; "I don't know what came over Brutus, or my Raptors... I don't possess the power to control, only the power to create... Something is amiss here, and I would appreciate your help in the matter. Come find me in my quarters after everyone goes to bed, you can bring your companions, but please, be careful... I fear for all of our safety." He sits back up quickly and exclaims, "What a day on the track, wasn't it lads!?"
As you watch his body language you get the sense that he is being truthful, but you are doubtful that he gave his *entire* story about being in university.
