Korey slowly creeps through the glade towards the mouth of the cave. Making sure not to make a sound. Reaching the caves mouth she leans her ear to the opening, trying to gain any sort of sounds from within. She hears nothing, just the stillness of the cavern within. The mouth of the cave is wet from the air difference within, its a warmer night within the valley but the cave stays cool, as always.
Korey would know that the cave goes down a little way, and then has a single chamber with a flat bottom. This is where her and may of the other residents of Hagar have played as kids.
Hmm...Don't think I'm going in there. Would rather get the thing out here...if it's even in there.Korey begins to devise of a plan to lure the beast out. She retrieves a torch from her pack and makes her way back to the far end of the grove. She buries the end of the torch into the ground just off to the side of the cave, to avoid a direct line of sight into the cave when the torch is lit. Checking a final time to make sure the torch is secure, she grabs the tinderbox and a piton from her pouch. She places the piton in her belt and proceeds to light the torch.
Once lit, Korey quickly, and as quietly as possible, cuts across to the opposite side of the grove, then back towards the opening of the cave. She then grabs the piton from her belt and rears back to throw it within the cave, glancing back to the torch to make sure it's still aflame. Here goes nothing'. Knowing the cave is rather deep, she throws the spike as hard as she can, and before it hits the ground she sprints off to find some cover.
Please provide stealth. yes you have some cover in bushes, but not enough to help your AC. thanks for the map once, we get your rolls we'll see what happens.
Korey fades into the shadows of the glade. Slowing her breathing and hiding from the world. Waiting for her target, keeping an eye over the glade, staying alert. After a time of waiting, off to her right Korey hears a heavy slow rumble. A horrendous smell of the forest comes to her nose, worse than any wet dog she had ever seen. Slowly the beast begins to prowl into the glade.
Just 15 feet to Korey's right stands a three foot tall wolf-like beast. It's gray fur matted, paws the size of plates pound into the damp grass and mud. Korey could just barely make out intelligence in the animals eye. The beasts focus on the flaming torch ahead of it, it slowly begins to make it's way toward it to investigate.
The beast does not see you, yet. You will be getting a surprise round on it and can spring your trap when ever you want. Roll a nature check to see if you know what kind of beast this is.
Catching her first sight of the creature as it emerges from its hiding place, Korey puts a hand to her mouth so as to not let a sudden gasp out that would give her position away. Good doggy. Go sniff out that flame. As the beast begins to makes its way towards the torch she draws back her bow and takes aim. There is no waver in her pull as she tracks the beast from her hiden position. Confident in her accuracy from a distance, Korey waits until the last possible moment as it reaches the torch. Taking a deep breath to steady herself, and once the head of the beast turns back towards her she looses her first arrow. As she releases the arrow, she begins to retreat some to gain some additional distance for her next shot.

The arrow flies and just barely scrapes across the beasts hide. Feeling the arrow scrap across it's thick hide the beast turns and begins sniffing the area searching for where the attack came from.
Sniffing you out, the beast stares down the bush you are hiding in and slowly makes it's way towards Korey's bush. It's 20 feet away when it stops and gets down low getting ready to pounce.
I changed your survival to a nature check because you're trying to determine what the beast is. You can only tell it's not a wolf, but has somewhat similar characteristics.
"Damnit!" Korey swears as her first shot just misses. She quickly removes another arrow from her quiver and fires, and then another right after. She then sprints away to gain what distance she can (30' movement).
Both of her arrows strike true into the beast. It gives out a loud fierce growl as it get down lower. Like lightning it is ready for the beast to pounce, It runs at Korey, it's powerful paws digging into the ground. It reaches Korey in a matter of moments, and goes to bite into her.
Beast: 19, Damage 10. If the attack hits, make a DC 13 strength saving through or be knocked prone.
The beast's teeth sink into Korey's shoulder, and blood immediately begins to show through her leather armor. The blow, being more powerful than she expected, knocks her to the ground. She quickly gets back to her feet by rolling with the fall. Feeling she's lost her advantage of her bow, she tosses it to the side and pulls her shield (AC now 16) off her back and unsheathes the scimitar at her side. "Okay, you bastard! Lets dance!" Almost snarling herself, Korey slices at the beast with the sword.
Attack: 16, Damage 7
I don't believe I get another attack since I'm changing out weapons, correct?
The beast looks at her, yellow eyes glaring into her. It tries to circle around Korey, whose keeping pace with the animals movements. Then it lunges towards her, with a hitch on his leg from the cut Korey laid into it.

The beast has managed to quickly wear down Korey, as it's last attack knocks her to the ground again. She first gets to one knee, then grabbing her mother's necklace: Okay, Momma. Gonna need some help here with this one. The necklace briefly emits a faint glow and it appears Korey found some sort of inspiration. Knowing it be critical to match the beast blow-for-blow, she leaps back her her feet and raises her sword for a powerful overhand strike with her scimitar.
Seeing it's prey down on one knee, an easy target, just the kind it likes it pounces at her to try and tear at her neck. Korey swipes up from the ground with her scimitar and slashes down the length of the beast belly as it is in the air. The animal lands with a thud on the damp ground, droplets of water cascading off from the impact. It tries to move to get back up, but heavily falls half way through it's efforts, giving off a low sigh as it's breath escapes it and it falls limp and silent.
Congrats on your first kill!! you can roll another nature check now that you can get up close to it and examine it and see if you know what the beast is.

"Aaarghh!" She lets out a primal scream as her blade strikes its target. Seeing the beast coming down on her she rolls to the side then pops to her feet with shield held high preparing for another attack. Watching it hit the ground for the second time she relaxes a little. "Whew! Thanks, Mom,"glancing up to the stars. She approaches the beast cautiously with her scimitar readied for another strike. She gives the fallen beast a couple of cursory pokes just to ensure that it has expired. Once satisfied, she tries to examine the beast a little closer.
The beast is nothing that Korey has ever seen or heard of before. It resembles a wolf almost, but she knows for sure it is not a wolf. Maybe someone in the village can identify it?
A soft gust of window rushes through the glade, the smells of the forest and most certainly gooseberries lingers on the breeze. It seemed peace was once again restored, as Korey looks up and can see the moon on the cusp of the trees.
Korey takes a moment to relax now the the threat has been dealt with. She breathes in the night air and grabs a drink from her waterskin. "Ugh...Need something stronger after that." She continues to wander a bit through the glade to expend the adrenaline that still courses through her veins. She picks a handful of gooseberries from a nearby bush and pops them in her mouth. After feeling a bit more refreshed she picks a few more berries for her halfling friend.
Before heading back over to her fallen prey, she collects the lit torch she had burried earlier. Stranding over the beast: How am I gonna get this big sucker back to town? Shoulda brought a horse. Hmm...Suppose I can get rid of its guts. She retrieves her dagger and small hand ax from her pack. Kneeling beside the beast she goes about field dressing the beast to make it a little easier for the journey back home. Having removed the internal organs, she secures a rope around the animal to drag it back home. She packs up and gathers all her belongings. "All right. Lets get you back to the house. Bet I can make a nice set of armor out of you." Picking up the rope, she sets of for her home.
Seeing a faint light coming from inside the house, she drops her burden about halfway between the road and house and dashes to the door. "Goose! I got the bastard!" she says almost out of breath but with the smile of kid at Winter's Fest. "Big son of a *****, too!" As one would expect, Vance was not able to sleep this night and is sitting at the small table in the kitchen picking at some food.
Excited to see his daughter finally home, and happy to see her safe, a smile warms Vacne's face. "Well what was it Korrina? A bear? A wolf?" Noticing the blood on her leather armor, he jumps up from his seat, causing a mild coughing fit. "You're hurt, damn it Korrina. Are you ok? How bad is it? Let me see." Heading over to his daughter and slowly inspecting her wound. He makes his way over to the counter and cabinets after close inspection and pulls down a leather satchel. Korey's seen this bag many of times, mostly for her too. This was what her father believed to be a medical bag, Vance believed a few bandages and some different alcohols could cure any cut or wound.
He slowly begins pouring the white liquor on her wounds, and washing away the blood. The sting from the ordeal causing Korey's eyes to smart a little. Then with his white bandages he wraps her arm very carefully, lovingly.
"Not sure what the thing is. Some sort of wolf perhaps...it's out front," motioning over her back with a thumb. "Heavy S.O.B. Almost left it there." She takes a seat to let her father tend to her wounds as she's to tired to resist. "Not gonna lie. Almost bit off more than I could chew with this one." Wincing a bit when the alcohol hits her wound, she grabs the bottle herself and takes a healthy swig of it. "Whew!"Not strictly made for drinking, but it helps in settling her still on edge nerves. "Need to find someone in town that can help identifying it."
How far was that from the house, a couple miles? I figured only about an hour or so getting back.
"No it's not for drinking." Vance says as he pulls the bottle back from her. "It's for killing the bacteria and other things that can get into the blood. Especially from some wild beast." Once done with her bandaging, Vance helps his daughter up. "Now, let's go see this beast." He motions for Korey to lead the way and follows behind her.
Vance walks around the beast, looking intently at it. Then kneels down getting close to the fast and really inspecting it. He touches the matted fur, and examines it. "Hmm. You are correct it has to be some kind of wolf I would assume, but it almost looks like. Hmm.. no it can't be." Vance scratches his chin as looking down at the wolf. He then looks back up at Korey. "I'm half tempted to say it's aWorg. One of thoseGoblindogs those nasty bastards use. It can't be, we haven't seen anyGoblins out this way, in gods I don't know how long. Maybe Ean Ramsey, the taxidermist would know." Seeing his daughter getting ready to walk off and find the older man, Vance speaks again, but more sternly. "You can find him in the morning. After you rest. Now let's pull this into the workshop. Come come now." He starts dragging the body, not waiting for Korey's help.
"Yeah, suppose you're right." Korey turns and picks up the rope to assist her father. "So, I figure this thing will make me a good cloak," she says excitedly as they make their way to the workshop. "This thing any good to eat, you think?"The pair quickly stow the corpse and make their way back inside the house.
Exhaustion is finally begins to set in on the hunter. She deposits her gear in the corner near the back door. She give her father a peck on the cheek and makes her way to her bedroom. "Goodnight, Goose." Are muscles are all ready beginning to tighten up after being worked so hard. She peels herself out of her armor and boots, letting everything just fall to the floor. She plops down on her bed and pulls down her undershirt off her shoulder she examines the wound. "Ooh, wow. This is gonna hurt in the morning." She slides her legs under the bed sheets and settles in. The last thing she thinks of before falling asleep, which doesn't take long.: Goblins?! Where would they be coming from?"
Wow 26HP. Hit that right on the mark with the last hit.
