Zhizi looks over the new arrival, and a slow smile spreads across his face. "G'day, mate! Don't mind if I do have a mug of that... seaweed ale, ye say? Blimey, a old pirate can't say no to that, now can 'e? Beggin' yer pardon, sir.. but ye have t'appearance of a healer-type, a dwarf o' the cloth, so to speak. We two be lookin' fer a partner to explore these woods and find some o' that treasure 'tis said to be out there. Be ye lookin' fer a crew?"
Boomi scoops up the gold piece and gives back 7 sliver. "Aye I be a Forge Bother and know a bit o' healing. I just agreed to go out with Gordon though. Can't speak for him but I'd be willing to team up"
Boomi walks over to Gordon and tells him about the others. "Those lads might want to team up. Know you said ye wanted to take 2 with ya but what ya think?"
Then goes to the back. He takes two large mugs of ale, two bowls of stew and some bread to the table.
"Here ye are, out good cook is out in the wood but the stew not bad"
Whistler stepped into the tavern, a bit weary and quite parched from travel, and glanced around. He'd been glad to hear of this little city, and the potential for adventure here, considering his last couple of outings had been a bust. As it was, he was getting low on funds, and had actually thought of giving the local law enforcement a call to see if they had any outlaws to be wrangled.
But he didn't need to fall back onto that quite yet. Finding an empty table, he sat down and ordered an ale while contenting himself with observing the room. Numerous adventurers were present, or in the process of coming or leaving. The bounty hunter grimaced as he listened to the chatter. The monsters some of them described running across in this "Forest of Wonders" didn't seem like idle threats. Sure, he could probably handle a few goblins, but anything else would be wise to have partners while fighting. He'd hoped to scout the land alone first, get a feel for things, maybe find a bit of treasure, THEN make a larger outing, but....
He sighed as his ale was placed in front of him, then smiling at the waitress he asked, "'Nother mug too, please. I reckon this one'll be gone quick!"With a wink he handed her a whole silver, both for the ale and for a modest tip. Relaxing a bit, he drank slowly, but steadily from his mug as the second was fetched, watching the other adventurers over the rim as he did.
Finishing the drink in short order, he suppressed a belch as he set the mug down and thought to himself, "Now... which o' these glory hounds might make good 'venturing partnas?"
Thank you Boomi! Much obliged! Ricdak sets down his empty mug and bowl, and eying the bald newcomer in the brown and purple consideringly, walks up to him and says Hey, mister? Stake you to an arm wrestle for lunch?
Hey, mister? Stake you to an arm wrestle for lunch?
Whistler looked at the halfling in confusion for a second, before breaking into a laugh. "Now, ain't you a feisty one?" he grinned as he assessed the figure beside him. An adventurer, obviously--and a ranger from the looks of it. He couldn't quite make out his specialty though, which the bounty hunter noted in the back of his mind as quite odd. Still, the little one seemed likeable enough, and if he tried to steal anything, Whistler was fairly certain he could outpace him.
Stroking his beard, the fighter continued while still smiling. "Tell ya what, I gotta counter-offer for ya. I'll arm rassle ya, sure. You win, I pay fo' ya lunch. But if'n I win, you team up with me into the forest, an' we get equal shares of any loot. Now... how'sat sound?"
(( OOC: I presume we'll use Athletics for the matchup, rolling until one of us exceeds the other? Also, you haven't chosen your archetype on your character sheet. ;) ))
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The fighter raised an eyebrow, then grinned slyly as he adjusted his chair and took hold of the diminutive hand. He flagged the waitress to have her start them, and quickly tried to see finish the contest.
I am Ricdak, or Rickie. I like to go out exploring and hunting for meat and skins in between caravans. Pleased to meet you, Whistler, what do you do? The plucky halfling fetched out 3 silvers, flexing his wrist and hand making certain they were still in working order while he did so.
Whistler shrugged. "I bounty hunted, mostly, for a few decades. It paid the bills. Did a bit ah 'venturing too, but now too much befo' now. But I gots anotha' shot at it, so I'm going to go at it and make enough to retiya on."
He took a drink from his second mug before continuing. "How 'bout you? I can tell you're a ranger, but couldn't make out yo' specialty. Presuming ya have one, that is."
"What am I gonna do with this?" Twig looks extremely disappointed as he pulls up the +1 hide armor and looks around at everyone else's loot "Does anybody want to trade? No? any takers on this high quality hide armor?"
After the adventure he would go back to town and spend few days getting into local pit fights trying to make a name for himself

There are 13 items on the armor list, and shields are fairly common. May I suggest that you roll first a 1d4 to determine the general type (light, medium, heavy, shield) and then another die for the subtype? You could use [ roll ]round(1dX/2)[ /roll ] (no spaces) with X being 6 for light, 10 for medium and 8 for heavy armor. This way shields are available, too, and are even more common than the other armor types. As an added benefit you would get to re-roll, if your DM permits that is.

Oh, thanx for the heads up, I actually had just ignored the shield... I don't think this matters much since I'll be selling it anyway, but I'll keep it in mind for next time
Boomi hears the word ale and looks up. He sees 2 gents in the corner looking his way.
"Be right back"
As he is currently minding the bar he walks over thinking them want a drink.
"Gday lads what can I get ya? We got a fresh keg of Seaweed ale and a local wheat ale just tapped. The kitchen is open too if ye hungry?"
Zhizi looks over the new arrival, and a slow smile spreads across his face. "G'day, mate! Don't mind if I do have a mug of that... seaweed ale, ye say? Yes, please, to lunch, Seaweed Ale, and treasure you say? Tell us more, please? Ricdak sets forth a gold piece on the table..

I'm sorry I got a disconnect on the weekend and couldn't participate as much as I wanted, but I'm reading up on the treasure rolls
I'm curious, how do you do pit fighting and shopping?
