A ship reaches the town and an excited elf can be seen leaning on one of the railings. Kathleen disembarks into town and takes a deep breath only to choke a little at the unexpected smell of fish. Nevertheless she is still excited to be in a new town. The longer than expected journey has tired her out. She enters the tavern to see an half-orc talking to a redheaded human (Ennis has red-hair right?) and everyone else in the tavern silent.
"What's this? Why is everyone so quiet? A tavern should be merry and loud." She exclaims. She sits down at a nearby table. "Get me some ale and some meat. I'm starving," she says with the large grin she has been wearing since she entered town never wavering.
"Oy, fellow travelers," Ayoola announces herself as she approaches the two figures. A gnome and a... she isn't sureW about the larger guy, eyeing him up and down with a inquisitive smirk. She bows. "Dr. Ayoola Nyu, researcher of the arcane and enthusiast of the odd. The two of you aren't per chance from this little town?"
Gris turns around "o o i sense troubles"
Gris makes a circle in the air with his left hand and knock ground with bottom of his spear
OOC: FIRBOLG MAGIC: "Disguise self"
His look changes into old human monk he was traveling
"Oh hello young lad. Don' mind mi old look. That was only mi monk trick. You see mi just human..like you.."
Ennis lets out a sigh when the half-orc notices his attention and gets up to come his way. He'd been starting to hope, since this one seemed to be on his own, that he'd be less...confrontational...than his kin, but it seemed that he was likely mistaken. Ghorbash's words only serve to confirm that.
"Nah, can't say I knows ya, friend," Ennis replies slowly, meeting Ghorbash's gaze, "although for a few moments there I was considering the possibility of changing that. You've made up my mind that it's probably not worth it though, if you take offense this easily." He takes one last swig from his mug before standing up, Zenith hanging openly in its scabbard at his left side. When the elven woman enters at that moment and airs her thoughts, he nods his acknowledgement in her direction before turning back to Ghorbash.
"Lass is right, seems we're making a scene, which is something I'd rather avoid." He lays a couple extra clamms on the table in exchange for the commotion. "I'll be taking me leave then, so you won't have to worry about me eyes wandering your way again. I'd suggest you take the opportunity to work on thickening your skin a bit, so's you don't start taking umbrage with every single person in Byting."
Ghorbash hears Ennis's words and is taken aback. "Wait. I've heard of a red haired seamen who is good with a sword. He goes by the name of Ennis Tiernay. Is that you?"
He sits down at the table and orders another beer. Ghorbash tries to recall the exact story that he has heard of Ennis, but seems to remember it involved bloody fighting. That is a respectable trade in Ghorbash's view.
Adoy, Nu, and Gris are approached by a smiling, toothless man. "Ahoy! You look a fine lot of adventurers! The names Tom. For a couple o' coins I could give you a tour o' the place. Know it like the back o' me hand." This is not a man with any racial bias, it seems.
Adoy Jumps, a little startled. he quickly scurries behind Gris, leaving behind a small temporary cloud of dirt swirling in the air where he stood.
OOC: Adoy is not filthy in a smelly unhygienic sort of way, in fact he often bathes in streams and usually smells strongly of various herbs(he's very fond of basil), but he is always covered head to toe in dirt usually including twigs and leaves stuck in his unkempt hair. he is also dressed completely in furs and leather tied onto his body with natural cordage. (sort of a mix between pigpen from peanuts and the feral child from Road Warrior.)
Adoy peers out form behind Girs's knees and sees Ayoola, perceiving no immediate threat he steps back out from behind his friend pretending he didn't just make a fool of himself.
"Well Hullo, we are in fact strangers here. I am Adoy And my shape changing friend here is Gris."
He pulls on Gris' pant leg and whispers, louder than he realizes
"Researcher of the arcane and enthusiast of the strange? might be just the sort of help we are looking for."
(Assuming a barmaid brought Kathleen her order)Still wet from the rain, Kathleen tears into the meat like it insulted her ancestors. She only stops from time to time to breathe before digging back in. Once she's done eating, she'll pay the bill (5 clamm?) and go sight seeing. She has heard of the Temple of Waevus so she'll go there first.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Ayoola raises an eyebrow at Gris changing in front of her and tries to recognize the spell: Arcana check: 15
"Monk trick, eh?" Before she can make anything of it and the jumpy gnome, however, a human man approaches them.
"Ahoy! You look a fine lot of adventurers! The names Tom. For a couple o' coins I could give you a tour o' the place. Know it like the back o' me hand."
"Splendid! I'm specifically looking for either a place to buy sahuagin blood, or someone who could hunt them." She flashes a smile. "It's for a little project of mine, you see?"

Tom looks a little taken aback, but he recovers himself quickly. "Sahuagin blood, eh? Well, I can't say you can buy that anywhere nearby. You'll probably have to go into the sea itself to it!" He chuckles to himself, sure that nobody would ever want to do that.
Gris smiles nervously towards the woman and whispers to Adoy
"I do not know if I want to be an object of any arcane researches. Do you? I like to keep myself un-researched"
OOC: I assume that the toothless man did not see Gris before his change of the look and we are still not in the town
Gris turns around as fast as possible (with Adoy near his leg) "Oh old gods.. another one..."
"Halloo, handsome stranger. And what you wanna mi show? Are there any attractions for a HUMAN monk mi like? "
Tom is a little surprised by this question. "Well, er, you might have a liking to visit the Temple of Waevus. It's a mighty splendid place, and that it is."
OOC: Adoy is equally ignorant of the value of money, as he has been away from civilization for quite some time, so he says nothing about the amount Gris offered.
He turns to Ayoola "I may be able to help you if you will accompany us to the temple first. I could talk to the crabs and sea birds for you and see if they can help you locate what you seek."
Ennis pauses in his attempted departure, turning back to Ghorbash with a look of curious surprise that quickly turns to suspicion.
"While that is indeed me name, I can't say I'm aware of any rumors or stories circulating about me. Dare I ask what you think you know about me, and how you came by this information?"
He very intentionally rests a hand on Zenith's pommel and remains standing, ready to continue leaving at a mere moment's notice.
Well dang, that certainly wasn't the reaction I was hoping for from you...

Ghorbash
Ghorbash slowly drinks his new beer as the human comes back to the table. "I was once a pirate on the high seas. And, I've heard this name before. Maybe it was in a tavern in Gimblesham, or other such place. The seas are fierce and take many lives. So, maybe is you, maybe is not. But, the tale I heard was of death. Death is necessary business for me, so maybe I know of you. What brings you to this puny village?"
OOC: Ha! I cant read your backstory, so I had to make a guess based on being a sailors background. Maybe odd couple brothers in arms?
At the word "pirate," Ennis immediately tenses and the unmistakable look of fury flashes across his face. By the time Ghorbash finishes his question, Zenith is out of its scabbard, tip barely an inch from the half-orc's face.
"What brings me here?" he responds with slow, careful control, which does nothing to mask the air of danger in his voice. "The Dusk Raven, its captain, and its crew. I want to know everything I can about them, so I've been pirate hunting." His eyes are latched onto Ghorbash with a cold, piercing stare for a single long second, until they flash back behind the half-orc towards the bar, then around the room as a whole, taking in the renewed silence. He blinks once...twice, then visibly shudders as he slowly draws back and lowers his blade.
He locks eyes with Ghorbash once again and nods his head towards the door of the tavern.
Ghorbash roars at Ennis while grabbing his axe and shield, "You threaten me!?" He overturns the table to leave space for a possible duel. Mugs go flying, and a hush goes through the tavern. The patrons appear to be leaving as quickly as possible.
"I am not who you seek! The Dusk Raven sunk our ship near the Seventeen Isles. I washed ashore. Only survivor of the Wicked Hag. The captain of the Dusk Raven is an orc named Gujek. Believe me or not, but if you want to die this day, I will gladly take your life right now!"
Standing ready to kill this man, Ghorbash steels his nerves.
He turns to Ayoola "I may be able to help you if you will accompany us to the temple first. I could talk to the crabs and sea birds for you and see if they can help you locate what you seek."
Ayoola nods in response. "Talking to animals? That would indeed be of major assistance. What do you need to do in the temple?"

"That could be a good place. Yes"
Then he whispers do Adoy "my look will not last long. We have to move to the temple quite fast"
Gris pulls 1 gold coin from the back pack (old monk left him 10gp)
OOC: Firbolgs does not get the concept of money very well
"Please take mi and my friend to the temple"
Gris gives Tom the coin
