“We should go towards Haven, and see if the High Seeker knows something about the staff. We could put Tomas in a boat, tied and telling in front of him that we are heading towards Palanthus to hire a ship towards Solamnia to give the staff to the Knights. “
The eyes of the wizard sparks again with magical energy.
”I would like to interrogate him with you if you don’t mind... could be fun. What do we want to ask him?”
“Wait “ says Shan afer hearing Xorn “ A note? Where is it? Let me check it out. Ah there is no much light here.. “
She puts a piece of silk over the cristal ball of his staff.
“Shirak”
With that the cristal ball of the staff iluminates and gives the cave an eeire gloom. If she hasn’t covered it it could proabbly fill the cave with light, and perharps giving their position away.
Geoff starts to answer Escarin. His voice is low at first but becomes loud enough for everyone to hear. "Tyrros was gone long years. Then, just a week ago, he returned. He was half-dead, out of his mind with a raging fever. He stumbled into camp and fell at my feet, his skin burning to the touch. In his hand, he clutched this staff. We had to pry his fingers loose. Even unconscious, he would not release it.
"He raved in his fever about a dark place, a broken city where death had black wings. Then, when he was nearly wild with fear and terror and the servants had to tie his arms to the bed, he remembered a woman, a woman dressed in blue light."
"She came to him in the dark place, he said, and healed him and gave him the staff. When he remembered her, he grew calmer and his fever broke."
Tyrros looks sullen. He is clearly ill at ease with the confidence of his brother.
"Four days ago-" Geoff paused, had it really been only four days? It seemed a lifetime! Sighing, he continued. "He presented the staff, telling them it had been given to him by a goddess, though he did not know her name. He told them he knew that the staff wasn't meant for him but for me..." His voice trails.
Geoff's face grew pale as he spoke, Tyrros's face dark and shadowed.
"They wanted it for themselves of course but he wouldn('t give it, even in his state." he said, barely speaking above a whisper. "They started hurling rocks. He looked at me with so much despair. I couldn't let them hurt him, not for ignorance and greed. I ran to him. The rocks struck us-" Geoff put his hand to his forehead, wincing in remembered pain, and Escarin's attention was drawn to a fresh, jagged scar on his tanned skin. "There was a blinding flash of light. When Tyrrosand I could see again, we were standing on the road outside of Solace. The staff glowed blue, then dimmed and faded until it is as you see it now. It was then we determined to go to Haven and ask the wise men at the temple about the staff."
"Tyrros," Escarin asked, troubled, "what do you remember of this broken city? Where was it?"
He glanced at Escarin out of the corner of his dark eyes, and it was obvious his thoughts had been far away. Then he stared off into the shadowy trees.
"I wandered many long years," he replied. "Often I had no idea where I was. I followed the sun and the moons and the stars. My last journey is like a dark dream." He was silent for a moment. When he spoke, it was as if he were talking from some great distance. "It was a city once beautiful, with white buildings supported by tall columns of marble. But it is now as if some great hand had picked up the city and cast it down a mountainside. The city is now very old and very evil."
"Death on black wings," Tanis said softly.
"It rose like a god from the darkness, its creatures worshipped it, shrieking and howling." Tyrros face paled beneath his sunbaked skin. He was sweating in the chill air. "I can speak of it no more!"
"And out of the horror came a woman who gave you the staff?" Escarin pursued.
"She healed me," Tyrros said simply. "I was dying."
"Now, let's take care of Tomas." steel was back in his voice.

She looks at him with no need to fake disgust and anger. Every time she thyinks that the stupid nully of their youth has allied himslef with goblins just to continue bullying the people of Solace she gets angrier.
Xorn walks to, and stands over Thomas. Squatting down quickly and getting very close “Hello Tom. It’s time to tell us about your new friends, and I’m not asking.” Accentuating his statement with a breath of hot air from his nostrils.
Geoff sits behind Tomas while Xorn speaks, staff firmly implanted in the ground, and stares at him with great intensity to make sure he doesn't have a way out of this.

Tomas seems at a loss. The time when he scared you is far away and strangely enough, you feel a bit of pity for him.
He stammers, "They told me to get the staff, I need the staff or they will hurt me." he tries to move his hands toward Geoff but stops himself when Tyrros moves in front.
"Just give me a reason..." Tyrros says.
Tomas shakes his head. "You don't understand, they will rule the world and they cannot be stopped, I had to do it. She is unforgiving."
Tomas will talk about the armies moving in the east, called the red armies and he tells you that the hobgoblin works in reality for what is called a Highlord.
“Listen Tomas “ she said from the depths of her hood “ You cannot be afraid. You are strong. You always been. And people will have need for that strength. It is true that hard times are ahead, but we must endure, we must fight. Perhaps She has returned to Krynn, but the Knight has come too, pursuing Her and He will stop Her. There will be war. There will be death and you must choose your alligances wisely. “
Her eyes glow in the dark
“ We are going to set you free in the Lake, we are not going to take with us all the way to Palanthus. You have a chance now. Help the good people of Solace. Remember our benevolence and live up to it. “ She come closer “ If you ever betray us...” she reaches for him with her hand and a swirling multicolor smoke appears in her hand. When she touches him the smoke surrounds Tomas. “ Now you bear the mark of the Deep Worm Cartypelius. It’s power is ancient and it will find you and devour your innards if you ever tell anyone about us, the staff or betray again Solace. “
Tomas is really cowed and he vows on his fathers life that he will do better and try to help Solace.
He tells you that you will not find friendly places in the North for the staff but that the Library of Palanthas is probably the best place to find help. If they let you inside.
Escarin laughs a little to himself at the recommendation by Tomas, but keeps his thoughts to himself throughout. He spends most of the time reading through his tome and assembling a small group of components.
Using the book and components he occupies a small area to the side to perform a ritual, at the end from the mouth of the cave the party hear a caw and a raven flies in to settle on Escarin's outstretched wrist. "Hello my little friend, we have been apart for a long while now, but I may have need of you and I've missed your company too." He turns to the others saying "This is Havran, he has a good pair of eyes and we might need them on the road north to Solamnia, don't worry he doesn't eat much".

The note is passed to Shanryar. It is crumpled and needs to be unraveled.
Tyrros shakes Tomas awake without much serenity.
"If you want I can make him forget we ever met, forever..."
Tomas's eyes grow wide with fear and he looks confusedly around him.
