Having never met Baryeras, but hearing about him a few times in passing, Morgan keeps her distance while watching him closely. She does much the same with Frixori, who she still doesn't have much of a read on yet beyond the apparent mutual love of books.
Caradoc jumps to the left, a bit startled by the huge horse's unhappy response to its reins being yanked. He stares at the enormous hooves thumping down near him and decides that the edge of the trail might be better than the middle.
When Baryeras appears, though, he scampers back across to greet him. "Long days and pleasant nights to you, ranger! Have you seen anything interesting lately?" He keeps up a soft patter of conversation, whether or not the half-elf responds.

Frixori is in the back of the wagon with the crates with a nose in her book.
So...exactly whose nose does she have in her book?
Frixori kills her minor illusion spell of the disembodied nose of Morgan in the book that she's reading. The tiefling looks over her shoulder to the human on the seat of the cart and gives her a mischievous grin. She goes back to reading her book with her own nose planted in it this time.
*We are a funny lot aren’t we?* says the aasimar to Morgan while he walks at her side, changing from right to left of the cart when she has the reins or not.
Every morning he is awake before the first light and prays as the sun rises, then cleans his armor and weapons and helps with the duties of the caravan, carriying water for Hrogar, procuring firewood for cooking and the night.
OOC: For clarification, any time I use a pair of asterisks ( * ) instead of quotation marks in Morgan's dialogue, it's to symbolize her using her "Awakened Mind" class ability to telepathically speak with an individual. Unless I specify that she speaks this way to the whole group, then only the person who can "hear" what she says is the person her words are directed to. As a case in point, she used her telepathy when speaking to Frixori in my previous post, so only Frixori would have heard it, which makes Cyrnair's following comment seem a bit out of place. I do apologize if I didn't make that clear.
The overall effect is that Morgan comes across as far quieter to people who don't know her than she really is, even though she's pretty quiet to begin with.
"Argh, the creatures just need a firm hand." Gelin replies as he ignores Morgan's advice while continuing to struggle with the reins. "I have a way with animals... trust me."
When not endangering everyone on the road with his driving, he spends time working out the lyrics to a very incomplete ballad of a currently unnamed adventurer.
After a comment like that, Morgan would fix Gelin with a stern glare, and he would have his first experience of hearing her telepathic voice in his head, reverberating with venom.
*I swear, if you hurt Hrogar with your unnecessarily brutish man-handling, I will find a way to curse you and your offspring for a thousand generations!*
"You boast too much, dwarf," comes reply from the tiefling in the back of the cart as she gets bounced around. She closes her book and hops out as she has decided to walk.
"You're the infamous Caradoc? I thought you'd be..taller. Notker the beggar speaks highly of you - said you owed him some copper. This should be an interesting trip."
"Infamous..." the halfling blushes and swells a bit. "Can't pretend I don't like the sound of that!" he whispers to himself.
"Oh that Notker - when was the last time someone didn't owe him some coppers?" Despite his jolly exterior, Caradoc also watches the road ahead... but more for berries and nuts than anything else. Road rations weren't exactly his favorite source of nourishment. In camp, he makes himself useful alongside the aasimar paladin.
He doesn't tell him any of his stories, though. Easier on the paladin's conscience and the rogue's ears, as it were.

OOC: Oh I got it that way that’s why I used the same quotation in my comment. He was just talking in general not for the last comment but should have expressed it better, my bad. :)
Further clarification. "Awakened Mind" allows Morgan to speak TO others with telepathy, not WITH them. She cannot hear/read others thoughts without using a spell (which she doesn't have yet), so anyone speaking to her has to speak normally.
Frandal, if that's NOT what you were trying to do then I misunderstood and apologize. Not trying to single you out, just trying to make sure everything is clear about how Morgan's limited telepathy works.
Another hour or so of travel and you make it to the sign posts that turn you off to the south again towards Phandalin. It is approaching just after the noon day meal, but with the late time in the autumn calendar, and beings so far north already, it will be dark in the next 5 hours or so. This offshoot road is even bumpier and more difficult then before. It is barely a dirt road now, and those riding in the bench seat of the wagon feel every bump. With the load of the wagon and the slow egress through the rough terrain, the last 2 hours of the trip will most likely take another 4 instead of the 2 you expected and hoped for.
With Carodoc and baryeras in the front some 20 pace starts or so, they come upon the scene of violence before anyone else in the party. With woods encroaching on both sides, and the beginnings of mountainous outcroppings ahead the road continues to narrow with only a 20 foot buffer on either side between tree stands and road. In the center of the road blocking the path are 2 butchered horses with saddles still in tact on the horses backs. There is no evidence of the riders, or the potential cause of the horses death present. They are perhaps 100 feet down the road, and just around a bend so only the 2 members scouting ahead sees the scene thus far.
"Umm... Baryeras? Are those... umm... horses??" Caradoc's voice cracks a little bit with nervous concern.

As far as I can tell from reading how it's written in the PHB...unfortunately not. It definitely looks like the telepathy is supposed to be one-way only, just from how the ability is worded. Specifically:
Awakened Mind
Starting at 1st level, your alien knowledge gives you the ability to touch the minds of other creatures. You can telepathically speak to any creature you can see within 30 feet of you. You don’t need to share a language with the creature for it to understand your telepathic utterances, but the creature must be able to understand at least one language.
Of course, if the DM rules otherwise, I can abide by that.
Further clarification. "Awakened Mind" allows Morgan to speak TO others with telepathy, not WITH them. She cannot hear/read others thoughts without using a spell (which she doesn't have yet), so anyone speaking to her has to speak normally.

No apologies needed! :) And that's good that you explained it to us... so we don't mess it up the mechanic :)
Having a telepath in the party is, nevertheless, awesome :)

When Morgan sees this transpire, she raises a quizzical eyebrow in the tiefling's direction.
*You are a strange one.*
Then she turns back to watching their forward progress on the road, hiding a faint smirk of amusement.
