While we eat, Sparhawk appoints a rotating guard to watch the cart, donkey, and body. (not sure how we won't be seen moving this big cart to the docks).
"Ok, before we head over and get our reward, lets go over our agreement with Fist." He looks at the others. "I wanna make sure we get paid appropriately and are not taken advantage of. In addition, I believe some favors from one of the ships were promised to us. Also, we are still owed a reward for helping with the crabs, so we have a lot coming our way to help replace our damaged items."
"Alright my friends, if my memory serves, Fist owes us about 800gp for Bernard, and 10% of the value of the stuff on the cart. We can also get a value on the items from the cavern, and I believe we owe 10% tithe for that." He looks at the group, "This will release us from the dagger of deals." He smiles.
"Bjorn, I value your sly wit and ability to manipulate a situation. Don't try this with Fist, but on the other hand, make sure he's not doing anything else to take advantage of our agreement."
"After we conclude our business, we can decide on our next course of action. Any thoughts?" Sparhawk looks at his friends, proud of the company he keeps.
(Regarding being spotted:) If possible, Bjorn will use Distort Value (2ft x 2ft x 2ft) on the finely-crafted chest to make it look more worthless, and disguises himself as someone with obvious, contagious illnesses. He lies in the cart next to the shrouded Bernard, moaning and coughing. When they reach the inn, he sits in the stable and urges anyone he sees to stay back, so they don't catch his terrible disease.
Assuming the group returns after eating, he agrees with Sparhawk. "Though, we ought to get those gems appraised, so that Fist can't just pay us a few coppers for them."
"You mean the ones we found in the cave?" Vars asks. "We don't have to give those up! They weren't part of the deal. They only things they have a claim on were what we recovered from Bernard! ...that's how I remember it anyways." He crosses his arms, "We wouldn't have those gems if I hadn't bought this map, so they have no right to any of it."
He mutters something under his breath about how their employer better not insist on taking the gems...they shouldn't even say anything about them...and its a good thing that they didn't go further and find the rest of the treasure just in case those bastards do try to take what they found from the cavern.
He gives a curt nod to Bjorn, "Yeah, that's a good idea." He shakes his head, "Stupid... I should have remembered that, then I wouldn't have been so insistent on checking out that spot... though I wasn't really expecting to find any actual treasure there...I was expecting to find a blasted key!" He fumes a little, but he can't change the fact that Sparhawk remembered the deal correctly and he hadn't. At least someone had, who knew what would have happened if they had tried to keep the gems to themselves. He rubs his hand, pinching the finger he'd cut on the dagger of deals.
You make your way to beach after eating your fill and the night has taken its hold on the city. You feel the hungry eyes of would be thieves size you up and your cargo and you notice how their minds change when they see the diseased Bjorn hacking up his lungs and the large draped corpse in the cart. Once at the beach, there seems to be be little activity. The damp air is very cold with a fine icy mist covering everything. You feel bad for those assigned watch on the various ships at anchor.
you keep a close eye on the other docks and the water and do not notice anyone lurking. Further on the beach you can see large pieces of crab shell as evidence of your battle.
you all make to the dock unnoticed and get the cart to the spot with the seagull post
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.

"He can pay for the appraiser if he wants a cut of the jewels, I suppose. And you all remember that we found those on one of those dead merchants, right? Not in a cave somewhere with possibly more treasure?"
"If I understand the magically binding agreement, it doesn't really matter where we found them, it part of our plunder. I feel it would be a large risk to leave the jewels out, but I agree, we can get them appraised." (Sparhawk also directs the party to wear masks, to help stop the spread of disease. "However, I will clarify."
Sparhawk looks around and says loudly, "Stay alert friends, this man is very sick and in need of care. Keep your masks on and don't touch him under any circumstances. Lets find that healer."
Frangipani nods eagerly and wraps a scarf around her face, " Yes, we go now. Find healer so the meat doesn't spoil.", she waggles her eyebrows at Bjorn.
Sparhawk produces an itemized list he compiled during their trip (soldier habit of making inventory lists) of treasure recovered from Bernard: (Including the cloak of protection)
"We will need to discuss with Fist if side missions not related to Bernard's and the recovery of lost items is part of the blood agreement. Then we can discuss the jewels from the cave."

Bjorn found 2 chests one small and a larger, fancier one. The fancy one is locked. Also a pile of random weapons and armor pieces of mixed quality, about 20 weapons and 10 armor pieces
On Bernards corpse you find his Morningstar, a cloak of very fine make. Inside his belt is a wax sealed letter, and on his hip is a bag filled with coins.
From Bernard you have a really nice cloak, his coin pouch containing 20 platinum, 200 gp, and 600sp. The was sealed letter.
The one box was locked, the letter is sealed and investigation checks to inventory
"What! The arrows count too?" Vars hisses. "They aren't even good arrows, but...seriously? Why did I sign onto this mission?" He shakes his head, putting his mask on as they tow the cart to their destination.
"And that is exactly why I was hesitant and surprised we so quickly signed this magical agreement." Sparhawk looks at the group. "This is why in the future, we will be more careful."
One of you goes to pull on the seagull when from behind you Two lanky, dark clad figures swing up from under the dock edges and approach you casually. Then the secret door opens in front of you and Mr Fist and another gentleman you don’t recognize come up the ladder. Fist seems to be in great mood and welcomes you heartily.
” Welcome back my Friends. This man here is Wilhelm Smithe. Admiral Kursk’s man to validate the take and verify the bounty.” He says, hand on the shoulder of the bald headed man next to him. Mr Smithe is a shortish human, with a long skinny mustache, a largish head on a skinny body. He wears a long, gold trimmed Tunic, a red sash and baggy brown pants.
Fist looks to be counting your crew and his smile fades a bit. “ where is Captain Sorsha? Did she fall in battle?”
"Its a long story, my friend, but unfortunately, she was literally swallowed up by the Earth. Some sort of demon magic I suspect." Sparhawk appears genuinely sad, thinking of his platinum haired friend. "But, good news, we have accomplished our mission."
"I didn't want to sign it in the first place," Vars mutters. "Not with that blasted dagger involved. But with everyone else signing it I didn't want to be the one person left out." He sniffs, "Whatever. Its done and we've got to deal with it."
When Fist greets them and inquires about Sorsha Vars says, "It seems someone else had something for her to do. She was taken by some...tentacles."
He eyes Smithe, not trusting the man one bit but doing his best to keep that to himself.
"We proudly present to you, the traitor Bernard and all that we could recover that was stolen." Sparhawk uncovers the wagon and asks Bjorn to drop the illusion. "Our crew worked hard and as you can see with great cost to achieve this task for you." (Can roll persuasion if needed, but just being honest.)
( puzzles and problems, lol)
