”Well I actually prefer a vegitarian diet, since... you know. Half animal and stuff? I won’t judge any of you for eating meat, we’re all omnivores so it’s the natural way of life, but please try to remember my requests during meal times” Phil finishes, trying to both read his field notes of what locales in the last town had reported and maintain eye contact with the smaller man.
To give you an idea of the morning and the fog, this is, more or less, along the road, of what you see. Even though it is early morning, there seems to be a lack of warmth and color.
THINGS YOU NOTICE: There are no animal sounds as you travel towards the tomb. No birds chirping, no rustling. Nothing. There is a lack of life. The only sounds are the crunching of your boots along the road.
TASKS: Continue to talk among yourselves as you travel to the tomb. Tomorrow morning (in real time) there will be our first encounter.
THINGS TO CONSIDER: Why were you chosen for this task? What was your life like before you were called for this assignment. Who or what did you work for that this assignment came to you?
Looking down at the notes over the smaller creatures shoulder curiously Ugg squinted his eyes trying to make sense of it. "What are those weird scribbles there and why do you seem so interested in them?" He asked not realizing he was interrupting the other two.

As Judas walks up to the gathering group, clouds of rich benignant cigar smoke eddied coolly around his head. He puffs it out in rings which breasted the air bravely for a moment: blue, circular; then began to wobble into hour-glass shapes and taper away. Odd shapes, you think.
Chanting dryly, "Day in, day out. That same old voodoo follows me about. I'm not the one who's so far away, when I feel the snake bite enter my veins. Never did I wanna be here again, and I don't remember why I came."
Judas pulls out a deck of cards (or what you believe to be a deck of playing cards), and starts flipping through them, randomly selecting ones from the deck and placing them in his pocket. You notice he's shaking his head quite often, muttering to himself. "We shall meet soon, bèt nan bwa. Very soon...”
“Right Phil, no meat fer ye then, I’m sure Ugg over here will eat your share of roast and then some...”
“Mmm... what’s that smell?... sweet smoke and leather reminds me of the tavern I was working on as a master chef before hitting the road to write my cookbook.. best in the world it will be, yes sir.”
Phil glances up at Ugg looking over his shoulder, and seems to shrink even smaller then he currently is, and shakily says:
”O-Oh, hi Ugg. This is my field notes-oh-OH. Um, this is called writing. You know the words you say when your talking? Writing is taking those words and putting them on paper so you can remember conversations you’ve had or stories you’ve heard. Quite useful, I could try to teach you how to read if you want?” Phil finished strongly. He seems to have gained some confidence, and looks and feels natural in his ‘teaching’ mode.
"You can put words on paper and have them speak them to you later? That sounds like some kind of magic. I don't want to learn magic, I want to become strong so I can save my tribe from bad orc."
Ugg caresses his sword lovingly as he finished speaking.
Phil can see he’s losing his audience, but in his eyes you can see he’ll give it one last try.
”A-Act-Actually reading, which is the act of ‘hearing the words’ on the paper with your eyes, and writing which is the act of ‘saying the words with your pen’ are both nonmagical acts that are quite common in most of the population of today’s society. They can be used in a variety of things, like the cook books Hammock is writing, which is filled with instructions on cooking, story books which have great myths and legends and...” Phil drops his voice and waggles his fingers for dramatic effect
”Books about battles, wars, and tactics to make you smarter and stronger on the battle field. Most great warriors know how to read and write, and if you have goals to have a high position like chieftain, or even head warrior, reading and writing can be a great boon for your tribe!” Phil finishes energetically, hoping that he could break through to the half-orc with this desperate and slightly manipulative plea.
"Bahhh, we half orcs only need to be strong enough and skilled in combat enough to beat the current chief to become chief. I will be strongest of all and will save my tribe. I don't see how words could help me do that. Maybe if you could show me that I might want to learn but I think killing bad things will be better to make me strong."
At that Ugg began to study the surrounding country side trying to see if there was anything around that may be dangerous so he could fight it and prove his skill with his sword.

Judas pulls out from his pack what appears to be a maraca with a long stick handle, shakes it, and mumbles a few unintelligible words in an unknown, forgotten language. Suddenly, a golden beam of light appears from above, piercing the foggy air.
Judas casts Aid. Hamhock, Phil, and Ugg - all three of you suddenly are filled with a strange overwhelming feeling of toughness and resolve. For the next 8 hours (in game, not IRL), your maximum and current hit points are increased by 5 points.
For giggles, I was going to cast Continual Flame on Ugg's helmet, but that has no warming impact. But, can you imagine the awesomeness of an orc running around, attacking everything in sight, with his helm on fire?
Looking around at his companions Ugg once again spoke, getting bored with the monotony of the journey. "I was told to join the group as a "wall of muscle" so they said. I figured that fits me pretty well and when I was told there would probably be monsters to kill I had to say yes. Why are you all coming. To kill monsters too?"

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Walking far behind the group is a relatively young looking human, dressed in some outdoor linen clothes, hide pants and leather boots. At his side is a crossbow that's clipped to his belt and a case of bolts on his other side. He doesn't seem to be interacting with the others much, instead focusing on a book he is reading, bound in blue leather with the words "Historica Naturalae" embossed on it. He mumbles to himself, not caring that he is in fact lagging behind his companions.
"The knowledge that these people have regarding nature and its fundamentals is fascinating. But what if maybe..."
His thoughts then start to stray away from his original dribble into thoughts regarding his apparent employment. Someone had been looking for an expert in ancient civilizations, cultures, beliefs and esoteric systems. He jumped on the first chance he got, even going so far as to stop all progress on the book that he was writing regarding the connection between astronomical studies and the ancient civilizations and their religions.
He then tries to remember any facts regarding the place they are heading...

This place is spooky...
Say has anyone heard the story about the broken sword?
Nevermind, it's pointless!
Taliesin giggles to himself a little as he and the party continue to trudge through the morning gloom towards the tomb.
