Looks like you've got plenty of interest from lots of new people so I will bow out so some of the newer people can play :) I'm in plenty of games already
I would like to play as well, please. The character I'm interested in playing is a Ghostwise Halfling fighter (focusing on Archery). His name is Boghadair, and he befriended an elven archer when he was young, which ignited his thirst for travel and adventure.
I have played D&D years ago and currently have multiple books here on D&D Beyond. I have not played in a forum format like this before, but so excited to try it out! I am easily able to respond daily.
I have marked the group private at this time. I have also responded to everyone. If I missed anyone, let me know. A couple still need to add there characters, so we won’t start until tomorrow or Sunday. I have also purchased the story so hopefully once I workout the bugs you will have access to the parts that you need. I added a little info about the forgotten realms. I will post our starting hook maybe as soon as tomorrow to give everyone time to connect to the story. I ask for forgiveness even before it is required due to the unknown mistakes I am sure to make. I hope everyone has fun and learns more about this new platform.
more to come....

Neverwinter is a city divided. The sword coast is open to the city's west. The Neverwinter forest is to the east of this city. Coming out of the forest through the city and into the sea is the Neverwinter river. West town is paved with crushed shells and focused on sea trade as well as outreach to foreign neighbors. East town is more rustic with streets maintained with stretched bark from Neverwinter forest and packed clay. East town has more of a close knit feel which caters to homesteaders and adventure seekers. Our story picks up in East town during the festival of Faerun.
With all of merrymaking and fun, there is also a hint of seriousness and danger. All of the inns are full and every shop is busy. Nonetheless you keep noticing handmade signs that draws your attention. “Wanted: security detail! Only the skilled and brave need apply! Those selected will be guaranteed adventure and reward 💰.” Other similar signs direct you to “Behind the Black Hammer at the end of East town.”
Characters who wish to continue will seek the forge/arms maker at the Black Hammer. Inside is a large burly grey dwarf named Droebol Ironbender. He gruffly directs you to go around back. Around the back you find a field with several different stations setup. The writer for the signs is waiting for you. He is Gundren Rockseeker a stout older dwarf. He is accompanied by a human warrior dressed in the colors of Neverwinter named Sildar Hallwinter.
You are greeted by Gundren as you approach.....

Well spoken, Arafiel, perhaps you may be. Before we are to inter into contract, some assurance that you are up for the task. As many different skills maybe called upon, please select a trial to complete. (The dwarf gestures to the stations.). We have feats of strength, special abilities, strategic mind games, or direct combat. Which do you prefer?

Clad in chain mail, a tall, well built Turami human enters the room doing his best to look as stoic as the human warrior in the room.
"Greetings master Gundren. My name is Tyrus Law. Allow me to prove myself with a feat of strength", he says. Without a gold piece to his name, the call of reward had drawn him in.
Since you are first to show up, a little more information might guide your choice. For your special, you must dislodge a tin can from on top a tree stump from a range of 30 feet. (3 tries)
For the strategic mind game, you must beat me in a game of slides at least one out of three trials. Slides is similar to tick tack toe with a finish line and blocking.
Your choice?

Good to meet you sir Tyrus. Gundren smiles broadly and gestures to a large boulder on the edge of the property. “Please move that pebble to the other side of yard. If you don’t mind?”

Unfortunately I will have to resign. My experience in pbp taught me that the less player you have the better experience is for all of them.
Plus some of characters backstories here bring topics that i would never want to exist in my "Sunday heroic game"
Nevertheless I hope you all will enjoy the game
