"Oh! Thanks, Gronk! It looks... great!" Ignis says excitedly to Gronk while taking the formerly-cute animal and trying to sound sincere.
If I don't like it, I can always give it to Norbert. He thinks as he looks at the Raven perched on his left shoulder. They're finally warming up to me! Gronk and Ignis, best friends forever. I like the sound of that. Friends! Well, best friends after Norbert, that is.
Just give me the meat, you idiot.Norbert thought, though no one could hear him. If Ravens could sigh, he would have run out of air years ago.
Ignis is a relatively tall Tiefling, if quite thin. He's the youngest in the group at seventeen years old, barely old enough to be out on his own. He beams at the others constantly, trying to be as friendly as possible but often overdoing it. If he were aware of how others saw his race, he would understand that being overly friendly just made them distrust him more, but he was a bit on the oblivious side and continued to grin widely at the group he had come to know over the past few months.
Gronk howls wildly with laughter at Dorans jibe, he has taken a special liking to Kreak not only for his healing aid but for his battle prowess. This affection is usually shown by joking around and getting a laugh. He knows the reputation of tieflings, but understands the glares an outsider receives so he sees Ignis as a strange kin.
"Doran speaks the truth! Kreak is very short, what a surprise he must be to the enemy on the battlefield! Hahaha! I've watched the shock in their eyes myself. Big 'swings' come in small packages!
Isn't it good Ignis? Nothing like fresh meat to regain strength!"
Gronk looks more human than orc, his light grey skin means he doesn't stand out like his green or purple cousins. He has short tusks and his brow protrudes slightly, but his human features are apparent. His shoulder length black hair has been pulled back into a pony tail and tied with a length of tanned leather. Standing 6' 7" tall with an incredibly muscular build, he is quite the site to onlookers. However, those who know him find he is light hearted and loyal.
Doran takes a seat by the campfire now that his casting is done for the meantime. "I speak what I know, and what I know is that everyone here deserves a spot by the fire." He looks over at the roasted rodents over the fire, contemplating whether or not to make them more crispy. "So long as the night is quiet, we should be in for a favourable day for travelling. Assuming our luck holds, that is."
Kreak blows out his mustaches in feigned annoyance. Years of tending to the often grisly and sad maladies of the rural poor has left him with a strong sense of what is important and made him very difficult to rile up.
"You are fortunate dwarves are not natural tree climbers Gronk, or I would climb up there and show you who is short!"
He says this with a mock fierce growl, miming an arduous climb up a steep arboreal. He pretends to wipe his brow from sweat and then turns to Ignis adding, "Next time I'll ask your raven to do this for me, I'm getting too old to be teaching Gronk manners."
Finally he turns to Doran and asks, "Are those done, by chance?" referring to the roasting rodents.
Walking over Aien sits down by the fire, his eyes moving back and forth as he watches everyone's interactions with delight. Yet he says nothing, just watching everything with a large smile on his face.
Doran looks over to Kreak. "It depends on whether you want flavour or crispiness." He says, taking one of the skewers. "I don't mind the taste, but I can heat it up a bit more if you would prefer." Doran offers the food towards the dwarf. "It's no banquet hall, but it is what we feast from the land." Doran contemplates the meal they he before they were deployed out for the war. It was not what he was used to, but it was nice to not have to go foraging for an evening. He then holds his other hand up, ready to apply some magical fire to the skewer should Kreak prefer an extra-well-done meal.
"If you don't like it, I'm sure Norbert would love some more... things. What are these called again?" Ignis asked amiably, petting his Raven on the head absently.
Maybe you're not completely useless after all.The raven thought. Even if you do insist on calling me Norbert. I couldn't be Nightwing or Shadowhawk or something a little more fitting than Norbert? Really, anything is better than Norbert.
"Do you think we'll be on the front lines soon?" Ignisasked, not really caring. He was just happy to be around friends.
"The apple doesn't fall far from the Gronk! Haha you Kreak me up dwarf friend! Hahaha"
He says, butchering this saying he's not quite familiar with.
He looks over with admiration at Doran, he appreciates his frank understanding of living with what you have and making the most of it. He also didn't think many would eat the kabobs so he's impressed.
"Are you hungry Aien? It looks like you need some protein my friend, eat! We need our strength."
Smiling, he offers another meatsicle to Aien. He seems adamant..

Doran quietly shifts beside the fire to make space for Vox to join the circle. Assumedly he was not expecting such company tonight, so the alarm would not be set for Vox to enter without triggering.
"Oh, there's an erm..." Doran points to where he cast the Alarm ritual. "An alarm... It'll set off when you come in."
It isn't unusual for Doran to quieten when superiors come over. He usually feels a little intimidated by the hierarchy of command, preferring not to get too involved in such politics. Because of this his words are usually few when in the vicinity of a superior.
(If we were expecting Vos to be here, then disregard the above)
"Uh, what exactly makes it hard? I mean, what can we expect?" Ignis asked nervously, wishing Norbert would come back to him but not wanting to command him to.

Doran seems to be quietly contemplating what could be ahead of them on the following mission. Perhaps a siege, or an attempt to break enemy lines with subterfuge. He begins attempting to work out what potential tactics he will have to employ; be it within a huge battlefield skirmish or employ street-level stealth skills.
“Grestin isn’t really what you’d call a small city, it’s a decent trading area for the empire and we have word they have a powerful sorcerer there, we’ve got good people on this mission but, it will be challenging”
