Nemean walks away from Tochi without responding and is quiet for a few minutes as they linger in the room. He walks to the north so he can peer down the passageway that leads west. And He listens for the booming sound to determine which direction it comes from.

Sildar stares into the darkness of the rift beyond, removing his heavy crossbow from his back to hold it at the ready. "I would hate to leave my sword behind," he comments.
The passage to the north leads to a set of stairs that ascends toward a narrow corridor. After a brief moment, the booming sound echoes from the direction of the rift.
"Those bugbears climbed up these ropes from the rift, so they must be secure. I'm following your lead, but if we are traversing a direction other than this rift, I could stand to borrow a melee weapon of some sort," Sildar responds.
"Maybe it's best to retrieve your sword before we continue." Roland says, peering over the edge to try to determine how far down the chasm is, and if there is anything interesting down there.
Sildar follows down one of the ropes. The ropes are secure, and the party descends in their own ways to the bottom of the rift 20 feet below. The floor is caked with rubble and sediment, but laying atop a pile of rocks by the side of the ledge is Sildar's longsword, emblazoned with the crest of Neverwinter, laying only a few feet away from a bugbear's morningstar.
Sildar returns his heavy crossbow to his back and picks up the sword, wiping the blade off. "Thank you, friends. I'll follow your lead," he says, holding his sword at the ready.
"No thanks necessary, friend. We are happy to have helped reunite you with your marvelous weapon. Now, I assume we go back up, then" Tochi says and prepares to fly up again, unless anyone has a different idea.
Taking a glance around, Roland sees nothing else but stone, rubble, water, and sediment within the rift. To thoroughly search an area this big with this much debris could take an hour or more.
Roland decides there isn't anything of immediate importance down here and returns to the rope, attempting to climb to the top and continue on their journey.

Nemean will examine the wall of the rift opposite the waterfall. "Now hang on... why go back from where we came when there is still more to explore here?" He attempts to scale up using his claws so that he is positioned at the entrance of the south passage which leads east into an unexplored part of the mine.
If he is able to reach the top, he will throw down one end of his rope to help his companions.

Tochi, just like Roland I assume, wanted to go back up only if nobody had any different ideas. Since Nemean clearly wants to remain downstairs, Tochi will join him as well: "There is indeed logic in what you are saying, friend. You echo the Great Primordial, Istishia, the Lord of Water, who said, that Only upon exhausting current possibilities should one look for new ones. This seems to be applicable here as well, so let us explore this cavern together".

Tochi does the same, wanting to find where the sound is coming from, so that they can go in that direction:

"I agree, a good weapon is an extension of oneself and should not be left behind", says Tochi and follows Roland's lead.
Roland stares into a dark abyss until Tochi moves closer with the lantern.
The stream tumbles into the rift and flows out again to the north. On the other side of the rift, there are two ledges that contain dark passages.

Nemean will climb down into the rift in order to find Sildar's sword and anything else of interest that may have be waiting for them.

Tochi, being an Aarakocra, has an easier time going down, using his wings, but trying not to look smug about it.

OOC: We've got a party split, with Tochi and Roland on one side of the rift and Nemean on the other. Which way to go?
Here's a map of the cavern so far:

"There is another path near where we came that is not where we came. But we can continue on if that suits best." Roland answers.
