The ball of light drips green fluid in its passing; and the rocks it touches begin to hiss and melt as if they had been dipped in a strong acid. And Famh suddenly vanishes as the fachan turns towards her, then reappears on the other side of it about a perch away from the spot she had been before. She blinks in surprise and then grins. "Feuch an glac thu mi a-nis, a bhalaich shalach!", she calls tauntingly.

(Waiting for Thatch and Vardi, but unless something changes dramatically, here are Cainneach's actions ...)
Cainneach's confidence is shaken momentarily by this monster's ferocity and resilience, but the supernatural focus he has invoked draws him back to the task at hand. He also hopes that Famh's taunting, charming though it may be, doesn't get her into trouble ... ;-) The forester maintains his advantageous position and fires his bow again, though the element of surprise is now gone.

Thatch recoils slightly at his first glimpse of the Fachan, not really knowing what to expect and shocked at the ferociousness of the creature. He settles his nerves and calmly draws back another arrow, taking advantage of Ori’s strikes against the beast. After releasing his arrow, he scrambles to the left, attempting to hide behind the rocks and brush.
Action Attack: 14 Damage: 8 plus 4 sneak attack damage.
Vardi, disquieted by a man's speech from a stone-fanged mouth, ponders if it's a name she's heard even as she eyes up her next place to strike.
OOC: Does Vardi know who Fingal Mac'Tethra is? History check: Nat 1 Total of 3.
"I would hate ta fight someone wi'out even knowing who tha were..." she mutters in annoyance "...But I seem ta have mislaid ma manners at tha moment." and aims the arrow upwards this time.
OOC: 14to hit,6 Piercing damage if it hits.
The Lyften Lass blinks in astonishment as Famh moves impossibly fast, as if she'd skipped the space in between where she was and where she is. Shrugging off her surprise, she slings longbow and basket across her back and runs full pelt towards Ori, shield in hand and a plan in mind.
OOC: What kind of check is grabbing a flailhead's attaching chain in the middle of combat?
Ori charged in from the side his huge club thudding into the twisted titans leg with a sickening crunch....
Resisting the foul Fpmorians dweomer Famh sends a corrosive fay missive of her own to bite into its gray-black flesh, another of Thatchs shafts finds purchase in the creatures midsection.
Vardi fired again, her arrow striking into its chest, Cainneachs shaft just missing the giant as it turns....the creatures body seems to flux and swell strangely as it roars defiance.
The creatures baleful eye follows Thatch as he tries to conceal himself but the Ori is too close for it to resist the temptation, blindingly fast it whips its flail back and forth trying to strike down the older man.
Flail vs Ori Attack: 22 Damage: 11
Ancient Fortitude- + 5 hp.
( Ori up. Then New Round- Famh, Thatch, Vardi and Cainneach.)
( Re. Vardis question an attempt to grapple a flail chain would be a Sleight of Hand or Acrobatics Check- if the check fails damage would be incurred as you are basically stepping into the path of the weapon, success would mean you've grasped the chain but would then need to make a Strength Save in order to remain attached.)
Well the plan worked. After biting into the grotesque creature with the spikes on his club, the creature clearly spots some of the others but Ori was too much of a threat, or more likely to easy of a target, to not deal with. The blow came from. The creature reminded Ori that he wasn't invincible and his age is starting to catch up to his arrogance. The blow didn't hurt as much as it probably should have, Ori knows he will be feeling that later. Trying not to think about the monstrosity infront of him and simply treat it as target practice he wildly swings the club again as he bellows at it.
Attack: 18 to hit (recklessly), 12 bludgeoning plus 1 piercing and 2 rage
Famh winces as she hears the monstrous flail strike Ori. Somehow the sergeant remains on his feet, as if nothing had happened, and she is reminded of the legends of certain Mercanian warriors and the feats of endurance they could perform in their birsarkʀ fury. But the blood trickling down Ori's side showed that the blow had done damage nonetheless; and she fears he cannot withstand too many more such blows. "Now ye hurt ma friends, too?," she mutters to herself. "We'll see aboot thon!" She breathes in sharply and casts her eyes about the slope until she spies a loose stone a foot or two to Ori's right. She wraps her mind about this and uses her faerie glamour to send it suddenly flying towards the fachan as if flung from a catapult, aiming for the joint of its leg to try and knock it backwards away from the wounded man. A moment later, she vanishes and reappears a perch above the fomorian, where she begins looking for other stones that she might send rolling down upon it in a more mundane fashion.

Vardi grabs for the chain as it lashes past her towards Ori, but fails in her attempt, and takes a wrecking ball for her impertinence. Slightly less confident in her ability to deal with the situation, she shakes her head as if to clear her wits, and reaches for her hammer.
OOC: How much damage does she take? Need to know if this is a Second Wind moment.
Thatch stumbles over a rock as he tries to hide, but luckily for him the Fachan was too focused on Ori and now Vardi to pay him much mind. It is not so lucky for Ori and Vardi. Trying to take some attention from the two of them, Thatch lets loose another arrow at the creature and stands and taunts the beast before turning and scrambling back up the slope toward it’s lair “C’mon then, you foul creature, let’s see what you have hidden away here.”

(OOC: 17 to hit, 6 B Damage if it hits, and PUSH takes effect, if I've understood it correctly.)
Cainneach's concern starts to grow as the grotesque creature remained standing, despite the piles of injuries it was sustaining at the hands of his skilled companions. Perhaps they had bitten off more than they could chew with this thing ... no point in backing off now, though. They were clearly committed to seeing out its demise! He aims carefully, so as to avoid striking Vardi and Ori, who had bravely wandered into the fray (and were large targets, besides!)
Ori stayed in tight to the monstrosity despite his wounds, smashing his great club into its knee, as Famh again flickered from place to place like some sort of fay spirit her flung boulder crashing into the stone of the hillside.
Thatch and Cainneach both planted arrows deep in its chest as Vardi attempted to snag the flail whipping towards Ori once more she misjudged and several of the spiked metal heads slammed into her on their way past.
The flail continued past towards Ori....though slightly off kilter because of Vardis sacrifice, then Vardi comes about and slams her hammer into the creatures corded thigh.
Blood sluiced down the titanic misshapen form but its injuries seemed to only fuel its anger, though they were certain it could not stand much more....

Ori struggling against this massive creature who seems even more enormous while this close anticipates the next blow coming in when out of the corner of his eye he sees Vardi in close. He notices her attempt to catch the monstrosities weapon and pay a heavy price for it, though somehow manages to strike through the hit. "NOOO" He bellows out in his rage, half mad the giantess didn't keep her distance, other half he felt the blow was a failure of his to protect them.
Between the changed trajectory and Ori's attention slightly diverted, the weapon hits Ori square in the side, just beyond the protection of the breastplate. He felt more then on rib break with the devastating blow.
Wincing from the pain, he drops one arm in reaction to the injury and wildly swing the great club over his head. Using his body as more of a counter balance to the club he swings it again at the great beast.

Famh bites her lip with vexation and concern as the fachan not only evades her stone that was meant to drive it back, but lands another terrible blow on Ori with its flail. "Whit will it tak tae fell this bloody thing?," she mutters to herself. But next moment she lets out an involuntary cheer as Vardi recovers from her own injuries to stagger Fingal with a great stroke of her hammer! Taking advantage of the distraction Famh sends another stone rocketing down the slope, hoping to catch the giant at a Disadvantagewhile he is off balance from the blow to his leg. This time she puts all the force of her will into the glamour. With any luck she will strike their foe hard enough to divert him from the wounded sergeant and kingswoman.
