"I know that I am neither cultist nor Rotting Man, but if the two of you don't settle down, I think Ethel's suggestion of tossing you both through the mirror to hash it out with the zombies is sounding more and more appealing.", Jan'ral says in her own voice.
Getting fed up with the whole situation, Avaria attempts to grapple Mak'ral and turn him around, her back to Soren with him in front of her.
Athletics: 10 - apparently the whole tense and boggling situation is thowing her off her game.
Whether she succeeds or not, she'll ask, "Alright, who the hell are you? We've been with Soren now for days and I don't know you from anyone. Time to spill."
Avaria pushes up the stairs to get at Mak’ral. The confined space, and trying not to hit Marrin in the process leads, Mak’ral to easily twist Avaria to the side and avoid the grapple.
”Do not put your hands on me,” Mak’ral says glaring at Avaria
(Mak’ral is up but need some details I don’t have handy until later - suffice to say he’s PO’d - will update this evening - magic will likely be flying so Jan can roll her held action).
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Mak'ral whispers something quietly in a language none of your immediately recognize and at the same time holds the book in his hands tightly.
The air all around Mak'ral shimmers and swirls. Spectral shapes begin to form and swirl about. When they slow down for a moment, they look to have the appearance of winged orcs with jaws full of teeth.
These shapes swirl and dart and spread out from Mak'ral, swirling around Avaria, Marrin and Jan. And it's not a pleasant experience. The spirit like shapes carry strong, deadly energy. (Avaria, Marrin, and Jan - WIS Saves - DC 18 - on a failed save each takes 47 necrotic. Half on a successful save.)
As the shapes appear, Jan releases her eldritch blasts but the swirling shapes throws off her aim and she misses Mak'ral completely.
Soren on the other hand is caught flat footed and the eldritch energy crackles right into his torso. That damage plus the earlier damage from fighting the zombies has left Soren looking pretty rough. However, rather than engage with Jan, or Mak'ral, he realizes the trouble he's in and sings a few bars of a nursery rhyme. As he does, almost all of the wounds knit themselves back together again.
"Dammit! Leave Soren be and drop this half-orc!" Ethel screams in near-panic as the stranger unleashes waves of necromantic energy over her friends.
She waves her walking stick and casts wither and bloom, doing a paltry 2necrotic damage to Mak'ral if he fails a DC 16 CON save, or 1if he succeeds. At least Avaria can roll an unspent hit die to recover the result of that roll + 5hp.
[It wasn't specified, but going forward Ethel will continue to save her reaction to cast counterspell on anything that so much as looks like a finger wiggle from Mak'ral.]

Mak'ral keeps his concentration when damaged by Ethel's spell, and even after getting hammered by Jan's twinned eldritch blast, the swirling spirit guardians stay up and about.
Ula is torn between trying to bring Mak'ral down and healing her friends who have just taken a fair bit of damage from these spirits. She ends up trying to do a bit of both.
Jan, Avaria, Ethel and Ula all heal up to 13 HP (Marrin isn't damaged yet) and she decides not to include Soren in the healing.
Then Ula brings radiant flames down upon Mak'ral but he stands strong and tall and shrugs off the effects.
Marrin needs to roll the DC 18 WIS Save - 47 necrotic on fail, half on success, at the start of their turn. Avaria doesn't need to roll again until her next turn if the spirits are still around her.
((K' is going to stay out of the area of effect, and I'm assuming they can't get to the upper level without passing through it? If they can head out the front door, they'll do so and keep tabs on incoming dangers... being sure to give the mirrors a wide berth.))

K' eyes the swirling spirits and all of their energy and heads out the front door. They need little encouragement to avoid looking at the mirrors given their prior stay inside. Once outside, K' swoops up a little and takes in an interesting, at least to a dusty fairy, scene. Down the stairs, standing still are a group of the zombies. They're looking up at the front entrance but making no move to enter. Counting beyond three isn't something K' likes to do, but if pressed, they'd make it to ten and that seems to equal the number of zombies. Behind the zombies, stand two diseased looking trees, also unmoving.
K looks more closely without trying to get closer and spots one of the zombies in the back of the group that does indeed have what looks like a crossbow bolt sticking out of its head. Wispy green vapour wafts upwards from where the bolt has pierced the skull.
As the winged orcs surround her, Marrin and Jan, Avaria growls as the necrotic damage seeps into her skin. She glares at the newcomer, all thoughts of discussion over. Sending herself into a rage, she barely feels Ethel's heal.
Being right up and personal with the half-orc, she pulls out her great sword and decides to cut him down to size before getting out of the way of the swirling creatures.
Attack: 18, Damage: 15 + 2
Attack: 26, Damage: 8 + 2
She then heads back down the stairs just out of range of the swirling creepy things.

Marrin goes to lightly bop Mak again.
