The dwarf turns to the heavily armed man offering him a flask, "A little hair of the dog might do the trick." He grabs the flask and takes a swig then holds it back up to the red-skinned fellow. Seeing the halfling heading into town he says, "I suppose we should be on our way then. Thank you for the drink, my name is Logum. What can I call you stranger?"
Alton begins to walk ahead. You see that the houses are mostly made of stone with a thatch roof with palm trees growing on the white sandy beach. As you come nearer the center of town, fancy decorations made up of corals, beach gemstones, and sea shells adorn the buildings and the roads are paved with sandstone slabs.
After arriving in front of the Taskmaster's Hall, you see a large notice board outside with quests posted up. You begin to read some of them.
Rinc shakes his head..." By Lathanders hairy armpit! going into debt just to make money. Half of what I have..Well. let's go do this. If the rewards are high enough...I can get back to vacationing."...He takes a slow sip of ale.
after seeing the list of tasks....
"Well well. The gold looks fair....I"ve no use for the decanter...too bad it's not ale. I'm game for anything."
Sandral shrugs as he passes over the 5 gold for the quest commission. "But a pittance." He says with firm confidence before looking slightly envious of the one who left with flight. He then looks over the list, a little downhearted that nothing shouts out as a major epic. "I suppose a sunken ship would be quite a sight." He comments, continuing to read the list.
As Sandral passes over 5 gold pieces to the small window inside the Taskmaster's Hall, a bugbear wearing fine clothes sitting inside greets him.
"Hello adventurer! It seems you don't know most of the rules regarding this place."
The bugbear hands you a form.
"Please fill up this form before you make your due payments. Remove one of the notice outside that you want to do, then indicate on this form the names that you want to join your job. After that, details of the job will be given to you.
There are few rules regarding when taking jobs posted outside.
One, you must fulfill the task and return back before the time limit.
Two, in case someone not indicated on your list finishes the quest before you, the form becomes magically inert and the contract will be voided. In case something like this happen, you may pay an additional 50 gold to add this person's name on your group.
Lastly, a person can only take one job and must be finished before taking another one.
I will check the form for its authenticity when you come back. If you return with a counterfeit, the local militia will be forcing you into intense labor for 1 week and you will be temporarily banned taking quests for another week."

Sandral looks a little taken aback at the pleasantries of the bugbear, still learning to get used to the goodly goblinoids of the region. He takes the coin back. "I suppose I shall return shortly." He says in a honourable tone before trying to figure out all of the 'crazy rules' that come with trying to become a heroic adventurer. He looks to the others there. "Well I guess we're banded to work together by answering the call, I suppose we should have introductions. My name is Sandral Everflame, holder of the sacred flame." He gestures with his hand, weaving a small amount of fire between them, before offering his hand in a polite gesture to shake, the flames now gone.
Alton does his best to keep his face neutral as he reads two of the requests, not quite sure how to react to the one posted about finding a pet duck. That would surely not add to his face in anyway, so he to will grab the one about the sunken ships as well. Arriving in time to hear the bugbear speak, the bard will wait his turn to grab a form. In his head he will do the math, figuring that with there being seven of them they could attempt to split the profits for 50gp eac. Also it could be used as a way to work together before the quest at the end of the week.
"Well met Sandral."- Alton calls out in a refined voice to get attention as if he was readying for a performance."If we are beginning introductions then allow me to go next. I am Alton Burrow the master of masters when it comes to bringing both joy and death with a blade." He said before adding with a chuckle. "I am also quite skilled as a musician."
By now Jeff was starting to get used to the more civil goblinoids, strange as it was. He walked with the group and listened carefully as the bugbear gave the rules and instructions for each task. As he was listening, his eyes drifted to the list of notices.
(Endless water seems quite useful, I'd like to have that!, sunken ship- that sounds difficult, but perhaps as a group we could get the reward!)
Then panic rushed through him as he spotted the third notice. He knew who had posted it and he knew exactly where to find the person they were looking for.
"Well met Sandral and Alton! My name is Jeff! If you'd all help me with this quest I would be grateful. I can explain more once we have some privacy."
As he is saying this he slaps 5 gold onto the table in front of the bugbear "I'll take the third notice, what other information do I get now that I've signed up?" and begins filling out the form.
"I'll take whoever wants to help me, just add your name to the form."
Jeff had to make a move before someone else took this notice, he had a plan but he was unsure if it would work.
"Well it seems like we have a choice to make then, since we can only sign up for one at a time." He looks over at Jeff sliding the gold across the desk. "Excuse me Jeff, was it? I believe the custom here is to fill out the form before paying."
He looks over the postings stroking his long beard. "I would be inclined to go for the big payday but I am not sure how one would go about transporting a sunken ship. The other jobs seem simple enough, although the duck is certainly peculiar. I am not too inclined to hunt down someone who just does not want to get married"
Logum continues to read the notices, looking for more information and trying to make a decision.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Sandral attempts to direct Jeff away from the counter initially. "As our esteemed acquaintance mentioned, perhaps we should revise this... paperwork first." He attempts to bring him to one side to speak with the group. Sandral obviously doesn't seem like the one to appreciate the documancers of the universe; he doesn't attempt to hide that inclination. "You seem very eager to ensure this couple get together, care to explain so we can work on this together, as a functioning party?"
Being overwhelmingly persuaded by Sandral, Jeff has no problem filling him in once he's been pulled put of ear-shot.
"Thank you, Logum is it?" He pockets his gold again.
He throws his arms around the two beside him and brings everyone in for a 'huddle' in a hushed tone he says- "I know who and where that noticed betrothed is... It's me! This crazy lord wants me to marry his ugly daughter and I've been on the run for about a week from his goons. Its NOT going to happen, so dont even try your silver tongue Sandral! There may be a way to finish this quest quickly and pick another. The longer that quest is up there the chances of our party being ambushed, to get me, grow. Plus we can pocket a stack of gold before our next notice. Please, I would not forget your aid friends- who's with me?!"
He looks around at the group, slightly manic. This must be serious stuff since this is the first time Jeff has shown much expression- now his emotions are getting the better of him.
Sen'ra looks slightly weirded out by Jeff, but says "Any gold is of use to us. I say pick the easiest one we can for the most money and get on with our lives. But I would prefer anything with out water. As, you know, fire elemental here. I will go with whatever has a group majority, if no consensus is reached. But, it's really up to you."

Alton scolds Jeff as he looks up at the human with a look of disapproval, his face slowly turning to a more neutral expression as he shrugs. "Depsite this I can not fault you for not wanting to be tied down with a person you have no feelings for. But ifyou wish for my aid I will not allow for further insults."
"So this plot thickens." Sandral says, almost as a monologue to himself. "A man, trapped in an attempt of wedlock by an influential family. Sounds like a small epic if ever I heard one, albeit with a twist."
"How does that interest you? I mean, if he needs protection from said influential family that, say, are trying to kill him, now that's interesting. But wedlock. BORING.
