I will open a new thread called Pit of Vipers: Chapter One and post the link in the campaign notes.
I’m so ready to get started. Hopefully I don’t mess up the rules too terribly much, as this is my first time playing. If there is an issue, feel free to send me a message. Thanks for having me.
- Vosnin, you’re not so friendly dwarf soldier who’s been known to remove fingers from time to time
Well we'll get along great Lavashel. Tiefling Sorcerer here, from the far land of Essoterra. You probably haven't heard of it. Not many have, now that it's 300 feet underwater. Dark red skin, two short horns, my head is always covered in a hood as a tradition amongst my people. My name is Cavyre Suntear. Suntear isn't my real last name, of course. I was given the title for stealing the Tear of the Sun and freeing our kind from Sun Demons, as we prefer darkness, another reason for the hood. I don't speak much, and when I do I'm quiet. I mostly reflect on what is happening, and like to watch the new customs of this land. Bars aren't usually my type of place, but I find it comforting and cozy. I often come here and observe. I keep a journal of said observations. These people are quite interesting.

Kaltent is an explorer who makes his living selling fake “discoveries” (charlatan background) and stumbled on some ancient sentient artifact. It made a pact with him, agreeing to give him power in exchange for keeping it hidden and doing certain jobs for it.
Jianyu has lived a very very long life, sired children, watched his grand children grow into.. well, into their own messes. He's seen nations rise and fall Human and Elven alike, and Elven nations don't fall often.
Now he just wanted to get away for awhile. In the forest his kin always sought his guidance and his wisdom, which was absurd given how rarely he granted it. Truth be told, while his body showed signs of his age, his mind was slipping too. He needed some stimulus. In the forest it was always, "Let us get you a chair, Grandfather" "Maybe you should lie down and rest, Grandfather." He'd had enough. He was out in the world again.
How long had it been since he left? Couldn't be more than a couple of decades. He could stand to sit down for a few, when he thought of it... There was a tavern ahead. He'd get a drink and relax. He'd hurry inside. If he daudled long some fools would think him a beggar, start tossing him coins, just 'cause of his aged appearance. The girls here didn't seem to wear much... Styles changed so often.
So, I'm not sure what I want to build, but I'll be happy to throw my hat into the ring. It does seem that you need some support/healing, but let's see what the dice tell me.

He sits quietly and easily at a table in the tavern, shuffling his cards. Somewhat tall, somewhat lanky, but shares an easy smile with whoever looks his way. Olived skin with dark hair, his slightly pointed ears belie his Elven heritage - although its obvious he is no elf. A mace swings from his belt loop, his shield leaning along the table. His presence and smile lets you know he's an easy going fellow and one likely to do something just to have a story to tell - although his eyes say his fun may come at someone else's expense.
When you finally approach, he'll be quick to extend a hand, saying, "The name's Bones - sit down and let's play a few hands."
After having a few drink and talking with the wenches, I grab my ale and walk over to your table. My heavy hand sits my mug down. The mug bangs as it meets the table with some force. I hold out my hand in a greeting manner. “Name’s Vosnin....”
Jianyu looks Bones over from a distance trying to figure if that's one of his. Some of his Grand Children had mingled in human society... Probably not...
Zack sits at corner of the tavern doodling away at a notebook. At first glance he looks human but his elven heritage is revealed upon closer inspection. He seems to be in his early 20s. He looks up at you with his black eyes and smiling nervously says in a low monotone voice, "Uh, hello. My name's Zack. N-Nice to meet you." He then goes back to drawing.
He is not a very social type of person but can speak his mind when he wants to. He left his home in search of arcane knowledge and to master the art of magic. He has heard of the ancient town Ashborn was built on so he came here thinking it might be a good place to start his search. (OOC: He will be a wizard. He just took his multi-classing dip into rogue before taking wizard.)
OOC: Will we be running two separate threads? We currently have 11 characters listed in the campaign. That's a lot of folks, trying to keep up on reading all of those posts might get a bit much if it's a single group. Just curious.
OOC: Maybe I wasn't clear, having 11 players in a pbp game, on a single thread, can be quite hectic. Reading all of those posts, and keeping everything straight can become quite the chore. I tried that on here a while back and had to back out of the game because it was just too much.
Yes it can be challenging but I ask that each player include any info that might be anticipated in their post (eg. if you cast a spell that requires a saving throw, please include your spell save DC), try to make only relevant posts (don't spam back to back) that include what you are currently doing, if you have other information that is relevant but maybe shouldn't go in your post you can always DM me (but also don't spam me please lol)
We will figure things out as we go and make any necessary adjustments, please be patient as some can post quicker than others while some may have a delay (due to time available in real life). If the delay is longer than 24 hours or seems excessive without an explanation I will make a post and move the plot along. Also I may prompt some players to post by writing their characters name in brackets at the bottom of the post.
Please check the public notes. I have posted the link there to Pit of Vipers: Chapter One so that we can all begin whenever everyone is ready.
It seems likely that not all 11 players will remain active. There's a tendency for people to disappear suddenly. I've had many campaigns end this way. Having extra players simply means if someone's inactive it won't be detrimental if they're skipped.
Ok, thank you
I am now a Tiefling Sorcerer, Shadow Magic type. Same rolls, slightly rearranged. Link:

(FYI, you can't actually share your character sheet. we can't see it. The DM can through the campaign, but that's it)
And apparently, most of us decided that rogues and warlocks are the best classes for this concept :P
See?
