Bones: One of the wenches, Laura, dark hair and a little shorter than the others, asks, "Who are you looking for? Some have been coming and going."
Bones replies, "Well, the lot that's been calling this inn their home these last couple of days... Umm, a couple of tieflings, an old monkish elf, a surly dwarf, a young human woman and man, a half elf gambler and a rather self assured halfling - all in dark garb likely taking life too seriously."
Jah'nun: Watl's word is as good as gold, for he does indeed go back to the 'Broken Barrel' to get some sleep and sleep he does as it is late afternoon before he wakes.
Bones: "Yes, I remember seeing you with them here a few times. I am sorry I was not clearer, that is what I meant when I said some of them have been coming and going. Who are you looking for?"
Zack: (You can avoid exhaustion but also do not gain the benefits of a long rest without taking one.)
Kaltent: You enter the bell tower and follow the map to the cellar. There are no windows and it is quite dark. Cobwebs block your descent on the stairs signaling no one has been down here is quite some time.
Bones: "Yes, I remember seeing you with them here a few times. I am sorry I was not clearer, that is what I meant when I said some of them have been coming and going. Who are you looking for?"
Bones replies, "I'm sorry for not understanding - it was a long night. The dwarf, the woman and the halfling."
After her response he'll offer, "Thank you for the information. If you see the dwarf or woman, and only them, discreetly tell them that I went off to take my turn. They should understand what that means." Bones then offers her a silver piece as way of thanks and walks out.
Bones returns to the sewer to take his turn on the watch, taking a different route from the first excursion and its return to avoid creating a routine path that observers may notice.

(I'm okay with that)
Zack is up at 6:00 AM (If that allows for at least 1 hour of short rest) and goes down to grab breakfast. (I think Zack ran up a tab of 1 gp 6 sp again) He will pay his tab so far and try to scan the place to see who else is up. Perception: 10
Squinting in the dark, Kaltent summons a flail pact weapon and examines the walls, looking for any unlit torches or lantern he could put to use to see better.
Bones: "The dwarf, Vosnin, I believe his name is if I remember correctly, is upstairs asleep in his room probably. I have not seen the woman or halfling return from when you all left earlier tonight." (you would have returned before Jah'nun collected Vosnin and left... will catch you up with the present in the next post)
Zack: You feel strangely refreshed after your short nap and Grunder smiles as you settle up your tab. Jah'nun is sitting at a table watching the stairs.
Kaltent: You find a torch in a sconce near the top of the stairs and use it to burn away the webs as you descend. The map leads you to a dead-end, a section of wall with some medium crates piled against it.
Since Zack will get a Short Rest, I would like to use Arcane Recovery during that rest to recover 1 Level two spell slot.
Zack will approach Jah'nun and say, "Good Morning. Do you have a minute?" Assuming Jah'nun agrees to listen to Zack, he will say "So, what do you think of the halfling's story? For that matter, what do you think of the halfling as a whole?"
Jah'nun is playing cards with her father's special deck when Zack approaches her. She pushes out a chair across from her with one booted foot. After thinking about his question for a little bit, she says, "My grandfather had a hunting dog. It was kind of small, but a really expert hunter, well trained." She looks at Zack, her lips twisting into a wry grin. "Problem was, he'd deliver his catch to anybody that'd pet him and praise him. Had no loyalty." She shakes her head, sadly. "In the end, that dog ended up killing and eating my grandmother's chickens, so my grandfather had to put him down." Jah'nun looks up towards the stairs and the floor above them where Watl is sleeping. "If you can keep a dog like that in line and never take your eye off him, then he's a valuable tool... but you sure as heck don't put him in charge of guarding your hen house."
Zack nods, understanding what the warlock meant. "Another thing I wanted to ask you. Last night, all of us went to the sewers to explore. After Raxor was captured Cavyre and Watl stayed behind. The rest were supposed to leave the sewers. Was there anyone besides the halfling and the Tiefling you didn't see leaving?"
Jah'nun frowns and lays a few more cards on the table, not really playing, just going through the motions of a solitary game. "I'm not sure. I don't think I saw Bones or Kaltent leave. But I wasn't really watching." Then a suspicious look creases her brow. "Why? You think they all might be conspiring with the halfling to cover something up?" Then she leans forward and gives Zack a serious look. "I'm not sure about Kaltent, yet, but I trust Bones. I don't think he'd allow anything like that." Then she sighs. "Wish I'd been there. I feel kinda bad for not treating the tiefling a bit better."

"Yeah. I trusted the guy. He seemed really interesting. Wish I had spent more time with him" Zack pretends to look saddened at Cavyre's death. He has put up similar kinds of acts all his life so this time, it isn't too different (Passive Deception: 18). He looks up at Jahnun and then looks around. He reasons that Jah'nun might know Dwarvish since Vosnin seems to be a close family friend. He speaks in Dwarvish. If Jah'nun doesn't speak Dwarvish, Zack will catch on and repeat himself in Common. When he does that, he will lean in close to try and make sure no one else hears him. Stealth: 18
"Can you keep a secret? I'm not sure what their motives are or why they were down in the sewers but... Last night, I found a foot print left in Raxor's blood. It did not belong to Raxor, Watl or Cavyre. There was another person present. Who they are and why they were there, I don't know but I intend to find them and interrogate them."
Only catching a word or two of Dwarvish, Jah'nun listens carefully when Zack begins speaking in Common. When he finishes, she leans back and nods. "That seems like a good plan, although it's possible that almost anyone could have come in after the fact and looked around. Could it have been more orcs? How long was Watl gone from the room? Speaking of which..." she wrinkles her nose in disgust. "You say you examined the area? Did you, um... take care of necessities afterwards? Or is our friend down there drawing flies as we speak?"
Bones: You head back to the sewers by a different route, just to be on the safe side. When you come to the room you find the four dead half-orcs, but also Raxor and Cavyre are dead on the floor. There is also a smear or smudge mark in the pool of blood by Raxor. (you are now almost caught up with the others... it will be morning in your next post)

- Bones -
Upon finding the scene, Bones sighs deeply, then saying to himself, "What a waste. So much potential in both these two - lost."
Bones, seeing the smudge, takes a closer look at what may have caused it (Investigation check 17 )... He then examines Cavyre's wounds noting point of impact, the likely method of death, and attempt to discern the likely general direction from which it came (Medicine check 18 )...
Discerning what he can from th scene, he then sits in front of the dead Raxor, after having propping him upright, burns a little incense and casts speak with dead.
Directing the necromancic energy into Raxor, Bones asks his first of five questions, "Who killed you and the tiefling that lies dead in this room?"
Changing the subject, he asks of Raxor, "How did you come into the employment of Sandrick?"
"What day and time next were you to accompany Sandrick to the Stratton estate?"
// And I'll hold off on my last two questions pending answers to those three. //
Vosnin
I release my grip on Watl. "Never cared for that tiefling myself." I head in the opposite direction of Watl.
