Jah'nun slips a copper onto the table behind her where the wench is cleaning, in thanks for the information, while keeping her eyes on the unfolding situation with the old man. With her other hand she loosens the strap on the handaxe by her side, preparing to grab it quickly and throw it at the crossbow the half-elf is holding if things come to a head.
The human has already secured away the pouch he got from Grunder, but before he can also pocket the fist full of coins he took from Lorvara's cap you pass your hand smoothly over his under the guise of reaching out to steady yourself, you manage to slip four gold coins that were sticking out from between his fingers into your free hand without disturbing his clenched fist. It helps that he shoves you out of the way right after, giving you a chance to pocket them. Also a booming sound reminiscent of thunder lends itself to your actions going unnoticed as the human and his goons make quick their exit, "We had better hurry, I don't want to get caught in this storm."
Watl relaxed in the corner as the goons left, letting out a breath he didn't know he was holding.
"You think those guys are the thieves guild? Seemed more like a bunch of thugs than anything else. Extortion? Racketeering? That's not the work of a respectable thief. It also confirmed my suspicions. There's no Piece here." The halfling whispers to Trust, staying hidden in the corner as the bustle of the tavern picks back up.
This is all the town has? Just some thugs drumming up cash by intimidating businesses? This town could use a Piece.
"Say Trust, you have a Piece where you're from? I have a feeling this town could use one. First order of business, oust those prigs." Watl says to the Tiefling a little more forcefully.
After the last of the goons leave and some semblance of background conversation returns to the tavern, Bones asks, to no one in particular, "I take it those are members of the "Steel Fist" that the chatter in the tavern has been going on about all night?"
Grimacing as the group leaves, Kaltent turns back to the game, looking over his opponents, seeing if he can spot anything unusual or out of the ordinary.
Pulling back her leather hood and shrugging off the chill as if in defiance of the cold blast of air from the door and the filth that had blown in and out with it, Jah'nun walks over to the bard. Dropping a gold coin into the cap, I nod towards her lyre and then towards the now closed door. "You were lovely tonight." I tell her pointedly. "Do you know that thug, Sandrick, well?"

Replying to Bones, “I would assume so judging by the force they brought to extort a small tavern owner.” I whistle to get the attention of Jah’nun. I motion with my head to join us back here at the table. “Not much of a “theives guild” as far as I can tell. I would say this group has a much more stronger grip on the underbelly around here.”

Jianyu, feeling a bit invigorated from the event, returns to sit with his new friend, Trust... And his new friends with their odd dialogue. He hops with agile grace onto the chair, where he takes a long pull from his cup.
Kaltent: You don't notice anything different as most everyone was focused on the Steel Fist when they were here and not the game.
A few of the wenches are able to confirm to everyone (player characters) that the human's name is Sandrick and his half-elven 'shadow' was Raxor, along with the half-orcs, they collect protection from Grunder every week. It used to be a reasonable amount but over the past weeks and months it has been increasing steadily.
Shortly after the goons left, Lorvara is able to help put the incident behind everyone by approaching the bar and offering the remainder of the coins, which are still quite substantial with the cap being half full, "Free round on the Broken Barrel!" as Lorvara empties her cap on the bar, you can barely hear amid the raucous cheers, "If I can stay the night in a room?" addressed to Grunder who readily agrees to the bargain.
Lorvara also begins playing again to settle the mood in the Broken Barrel. After her first song she promises to tell an epic tale of grand adventure in the common room, but first a short break to quench her thirst and she heads back to the bar.

Nodding over my shoulder in acknowledgement to Vosnin across the way, I turn back and smile sympathetically and warmly at the the bard, trying my best to persuade her to talk with my charismatic personality. (CHA: 19)
(My intent was more to look over the players appearance and mannerisms in general, not necessarily in relation to the game itself for reading bluffs or anything. not that it probably matters with those rolls :P)
Cavyre sees Lorvana and decides to go over to her. "Excuse me please." he says to the Tiefling as he collects his things and goes to the bar and sits next to Lorvana. "Well, that was a nice thing to do. I'm sure everyone appreciates it. I'm Cavyre. You play quite well. I've seen those "Steel Fists" before, as I come here often. They seem imposing figures. Could you tell me why they seem to be such a big deal? Of course, if you don't want to say anything, please don't. Freedom is precious, I should know." Cayve stares slightly expectantly at her as he turns his cup on the bar.

Lorvara returns your smile and places her hand on your arm trying to forge a bond of camaraderie, "Sandrick, no, but I've heard of him and his goons. The Steel Fist will be the death of Ashborn if left unchecked." She looks directly into your eyes Jah'nun, "We weren't probably introduced, what is your name?"
Seeing the thugs leave, Lav breaths a sigh of relief. He doesn't know if he could have survived had it come to a fight. To not feel so vulnerable again, Lav takes out his staff with his right hand, touches himself with his other one, and says:"Protect me", thereby casting Mage Armor .
Impressed by Lorvara's quick recovery after that... unpleasant situation, I pat her on the shoulder. "My name is Jah'nun. Don't worry. I don't think Ashborn is without hope. Although, admittedly, I'm new here..." I look significantly over at my friend, Vosnin, at the table and the group he seems to have quickly formed with his special "charm", and give him a nod. "I believe there are already those among the good folk of this city who would not see it fall to ruin. My mother, a respected member of the city guard back home, always told me that every city needs rules and leadership, both on the streets and beneath them. I think this "Iron Fist", as you call them, has forgotten the art of diplomacy... and discretion." Accepting a mug from Grunder and smiling my thanks, I take a drink and then return Lorvara's direct look . "Clearly someone needs to remind them. I just wish I knew where to start."

After Jianyu has relieved himself he returns to the bar and returns Lorvara's coins to her cap with an apologetic shrug.

A strong grip, perhaps, but maybe not so strong as all that, else they wouldn't need so many guards to collect a simple payment.
