Kaltent glances to the bard as well, nodding his head slightly. (Deception: 9) Lived here all my life. How about yourself?
Bones raises an eyebrow... ( insight21 ) ... "So, a local, eh? Interesting."
Bones continues, "Me? I'm a traveler by nature and creed. I just rolled into town this evening myself. Thought it would make for a nice, quick stop, but it seems things here are much more interesting than I had originally thought. So I may extend my stay a bit longer."

Cavye looks and see Lav swinging his staff and frowns. "Now why would he be doing protective magic unless he knows something is about to go down? I better be on my guard." He takes another look around the cluttered tavern.

Lorvara looks over to you Cavyre, "Well, what's the cost of one more drink more or less. I'm Lorvara, as I'm sure you already know. The Steel Fists are what pass for a thieves' guild around here now, don't get me wrong but in their heyday they were much more competent. After some internal power struggles there has been one leader after another until now, who ever is running things has gone power mad it seems. I'm not one to complain often but if something isn't done soon the Steel Fists may very well open the door for the Zhentarim. But where are my manners, perhaps we can talk later after I tell a story or two in the common room." She then turns back to you Jah'nun and once again touches your arm as she looks into your eyes, "Would you like to join me in my room later for a nightcap, we can talk privately there? There may be more stories I can share that I wouldn't dare among the present company."
Noticing Lav cast Mage Armor Lorvara becomes concerned for a minute but not seeing any apparent threat just shrugs it off as someone being overly cautious.
Watl saw the human woman chatting up the bard from across the room and smiles a bit.
She definitely recognized me. Perhaps one of the fold? Maybe she's just another who heard the rumors... regardless, a human would be a good face for The Piece. Worth checking out, at least.
"Excuse me a moment, gents." The halfling said as he slipped around Trust and made his way over to the woman who met his eyes earlier.
"It seems like those are the type who don't know to quit dancing when the music ends." Watl says to the human.
When it was clear she didn't understand his meaning, he continued anyway without the thieves cant.
"Listen, I know you recognized me. So you know what I'm about. Those thugs back there, that's not how you run things. I'm starting a... let's call it a coalition. I'll be in the corner over there if you want to hear more." The halfling said with a wink and a smile. Once that was done, he made his way back to the corner, noting the occupied stool he had planned to perch on with distaste before pulling a other one over to sit with the elderly elf and Trust.
"I saw you drop some coins into the bard's hat. That must have been a heck of a lift for me to not catch it. Crazy as a fly on a frog's nose, too. What's your name, oldtimer?" The halfling said to the elderly elf on the stool next to him.

Nodding grimly, Jah'nun takes note of who else near by may have heard the bard's serious words and invitation. (Perception check: 18) "Your precaution is wise, Wordsmith," I say to Lorvara. "I will speak with Vosnin and a few others that may share our... concerns for the city, and meet you tonight after this crowd of ears has thinned." She gives the bard's arm a grateful squeeze. Then she turns and claps the tiefling on the back, "Come, Cavyre, and meet my swarthy dwarvish companion. He absolutely adores hell sp... er, your kind! We have much to discuss before tonight!" Then she heads for the table in the other room.
Jianyu, feeling rather proud of himself, grins a bit foolishly, before finding some restraint. He turns on his stool, and gives a slight bow. "Jianyu" he speaks clearly, lest he be asked to repeat himself. His low, aged voice pushes through, like a passing storm against an old rusty gate.
I sit back over listening to the conversation between Kaltent and Bones. My attention is periodically drawn away as I watch Jah'nun work her natural charm on the bard. I relax my hand from my cross bow and let it dangle once again. I lean into the conversation as Kaltent claims to be a local.
Insight check of the truth of Kaltent's statement: 4
"I came here in search of an artifact that was taken from my mines during a raid. Not sure who has it now, as I know it's changed hands multiple times. That I know for a fact." The gem on my warhammer seems to spark and brighten a few times before going dim again.
Speechless for a moment as that halfling she saw on a wanted poster some days ago approaches her, speaks quickly, and moves on, Jah'nun shakes her head and continues towards Vosnin. It seems their gathering tonight may be bigger than the bard expects...
Lav smirks; having casted the protection spell just a few seconds ago, Lav feels invincible. He looks around the tavern. He wants to do something with that new found confidence. There. The Hafling that bothered him previously comes into view, talking to the strange elderly elf that was moving towards the thugs just recently. He thinks for a moment what to do, then starts to whistle quietly to activate Thaumaturgy. Behind the old elf, ominous whispers become audible. Hah, let's see how he'll react to that.
"Huh? Oh, um.. I was actuall...." the rest of his sentence is cut off by Jah'nun dragging him to the next room. "Uh, hello there. Your friend here invited me. Hope that's alright. But might I ask, why am I over here? Do you need something?" "I know he was going to say 'hell spawn', and no one who says that can have good intentions. Now I know I need to keep my guard up. I wonder what he's up to..."

Raising an eyebrow at the tiefling, Jah'nun looks serious for a moment, "Why, Cavyre... as I said, "I got the feeling from your questions to the fair Lorvara that you shared our concern for the city and the unfortunate way this 'Steel Fist' seems to be abusing it. Perhaps I misread your intent...?"
"Well, Jianyu. Good to meet you. Watl. You know how things are supposed to work. That's good. None of that foolish show of force garbage. The real work should never be seen, am I right?" Watl said to Jianyu with a smirk.
What the hell? Is he casting a spell? Where are those whispers coming from?
He gave the elf his best smile under the circumstances and turned back to Trust.
Yes. I think The Piece could do well here. Just gotta find some like mind and a few that are a little crazier. Then we can get rid of this Steel Fist and I can pick my Chorus. Shouldn't be too tough. Might already have 2 here.
He smiled at the thoughts streaming through his mind, ignoring the whispers coming from behind the elf.
Lorvara finishes her drink and announces that she will begin her storytelling in the common room as she begins making her way there, some patrons have cleared out as it got later but many of those remaining begin making their way to the common room curious to know what tale the famous bard will regale them with this time.
As she begins her tale, a grumpy looking patron interrupts with a question, "What is a Min... Mino... Minotaur?" and without missing a beat as only expert storytellers can, Lorvara explains both what a Minotaur is and why it is relevant to her story. This seems to set the stage for the kind of style that Lorvara uses to tell her stories, allowing for questions and using them and the answers as an opportunity to further her tale along.
(The players may ask her any questions they have. As the night gets darker more patrons leave until only the player characters are left with Lorvara in the common room, Grunder is behind the bar and only a few wenches remain as most have retired for the night.)
"How do you come up with such fascinating stories? I feel as if I've lived them. What made you become a bard, if you don't mind me asking?" He seems intrigued by her masterful storytelling.

As Jah'nun approaches the table, I push her chair out with my foot inviting her back into the group.
From across the room, my dwarven accent bellows out. "Miss Lorvara," I say very respectfully. "First of all, thank you for the round of ales after such a horrible band of misfits ruined the mood. I, for one, is interesting in the history of the city."
"Well, yes, but I was mostly curious as to who they were, although it would be a shame if they ruined this place. I rather like it. Reminds me of home actually. But, if I may inquire, what is your intent?" He says slightly suspiciously to Jah'nun.
