"Grunt. Pulled out the wrong armament." Jacob tucks away his swords and draws his crossbow to fire at the needle blight, 

Attack: 21 Damage: 7

Even with partial cover, the Needle Blight takes Jacob’s bolt squarely in the upper chest and loses a large chunk of its shoulder. It’s still alive and kicking, but badly damaged.

Penelope, you’re up.

Penelope shuffles back a 5 feet and with a wave of her hand begins collecting cold air and moisture in her palm.

"Next time Stone, don't let them know we are here!" She calls out before thrusting her hand forward and casting Ray of Frost at the nearest Needle Blight.

Attack:13 Damage:1

Penelope’s ray freezes the Needle Blight in place. It’s frozen form falls over dead.

The first of the remaining Twig Blights runs on land and slashes at Penelope. 

Attack: 17

Damage: 4

Penelope is raked across the chest by the Twig Blight's claws.

The final Twig Blight moves towards Stone and attacks with its wooden claws.

Attack: 17

Damage: 4

 Stone's armor blocks the claws of the tree monster.

Natasha you’re up.

(Natasha tries to take out the Blight that just attacked Stone.)

Attack: 22 Damage: 4 + 4

Natasha’s arrow easily pierces the wooden hide of the Twig Blight, killing it.

Stone, your turn.

Stone turns towards the last Blight, the one that attacked Penelope, and runs at it yelling,

"Get your slimy stems away from her!!!"

As he runs, Stone swings his longsword overhead to bring it down on the Blight.

Attack = 19     Damage = 10

As Stone cleves the Twig Blight in half, the bog falls silent. The party has cleared out the immediate danger, but you still have to retrieve the rudder. What would you like to do?

How high are the tree branches above the bog? Would I be able to climb up a tree, walk across the branch and tie a rope  to the rudder to lift it?

You could climb a tree, but the higher the branches, the smaller and weaker the branches. It may not support your weight. 

Stone pats Penelope gently on the shoulder.

"You are brave. Thank you for your aid."

As he pats her, Stone lays his hands upon her and cures her for 2 hp worth of damage.

Stone again starts wading towards the rudder.

"I WILL BE MORE CAUTIOUS THIS TIME,"

he hollers back to his companions in his low booming voice. Birds take flight from nearby trees.

Penelope sighs and rubs her hands over he face.

"Thanks. I guess." She mumbles quietly.

Penelope would like to try and hide in case anything else is attracted by Stone's voice.

Stealth:6

"Stone, be a dear and bring us the Rudder. You're the closest, you're the strongest, and you're already all dirty from the muck. We'll watch your back so that nothing else tries to attack you while you haul it out."

(Natasha puts her hand on her hip, waiting for Stone to do her bidding.)

Jacob tosses Stone one end of his rope, 

"Tie this one to yours and yours to the rudder. We can all drag it out together, get this over with as fast as possible."

"Thank you Jacob,"

Stone grabs the end of Jacobs rope and attaches it to the end of his own.

"If I can't get this rudder out myself then I'm sure we can do it together."

He continues onward towards the rudder.

Penelope scans the bog, and discovers no new threats. Stone wads his way through the muck and secures the rope around the rudder. He wraps his massive arms around the rudder and attempts to pull it free by himself. 

Stone, make an Athletics check.

Stone roars as he exerts all the strength of his massive muscles in an attempt to free the rudder.

"ROAR"

Stone's Athletics = 9

Stone’s neck muscles bulge and his gray face is tinged red as he tries to dislodge the rudder.  With much exertion he manages to uproot the rudder. He drags it ashore and the rest of the party uses the ropes to strap the rudder to his back.  You all accompany the rudder back to the airship without incident. The captain is glad to see you.

“There you are! Did you have any trouble retrieving that rudder?”

“My rope got muddy, if that counts.”
