Looking for 4-8 players. This is a level 1 adventure.
Please limit characters to Basic Rules as listed online hereand the pdf. Classes, races, spells, and monsters will be strictly limited to 5e basic player and DM rules. These are free to the public, are subsets of the full 5e SRD, and are not to be confused with the DnD Beyond's PHB, DMG, MM, or Basic Player Guide.
This means: Races are limited to human, elf, dwarf, and halfling. Classes are limited to fighter, rogue, cleric, and wizard.
I've dabbled a little with table top DM'ing and want to try my hand here using PbP.
Keeping it simple: when requesting to join, only submit your character's name, race, class, background (e.g. acolyte, soldier, ...) and personality (trait, ideal, bond, and flaw). You can pick your personality traits. You aren't required to roll. Rolling is helpful if you aren't sure which one to choose.
I will PM you a link to join when I want to see your DnD Beyond character sheet. Just be sure to have it ready BEFORE posting your request to join.
When building your character, use a standard array only (e.g. 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, and 8). No multi classing. I will PM a link to the campaign to join when I have a player from each class available (right now we need a wizard). Minimum requirements for the game to start are one player from each class listed above (fighter, rogue, cleric, and wizard). I will allow at most 2 from each class in the party.
Some basic cautions before signing up ...
Everyone is welcome (new and experienced alike). No evil alignments. No pick pocketing fellow adventurers. No Player-vs-Player. This is a cooperative game. Help the team win and have fun doing so. My goal is to make sure everyone has a fun time. Your goal should be the same. Dialogue and interactions should be PG here for young players (I may have others here invited that are pre-teen, so let's keep it clean). If you need help deciding what is appropriate, refer to the D&D Adventurer's League Code of Conduct. Still in doubt? Consider your fellow player's enjoyment before your own. There will be no tolerance for anything less.
I understand we all have real lives, and that's probably why you are playing PbP. Expectations are to post at least once a day. If you will be away for more than 1-day, let me know. If there's a problem with the way the game is going, let me know that also (PM me). I'm learning, and hopefully you are also, so let's learn together and have fun at the same time.
When rolling for attack during combat, go ahead and roll for damage at the same time (save a post and downtime waiting for DM).
Birdie Diggins, Halfling Fighter. At your service! Former soldier. Always has to make some sort of joke, feels the need to defend those who can't defend themselves, he will sacrifice himself for those with whom he fights, he loves making jokes all the time but his sense of humor is awful and most of his jokes make no sense.
I idolize a particular hero of my faith, and constantly refer to that person’s deeds and example.
I quote (or misquote) sacred texts and proverbs in almost every situation.
Charity. I always try to help those in need, no matter what the personal cost. (Good)
Everything I do is for the common people.
My piety sometimes leads me to blindly trust those that profess faith in my god.
I rolled the traits up randomly, so I'm still working out how to translate that into personality. I'm thinking naive to the comic relief degree with a dash of determined-to-do-the-right thing and a knack for healing that makes up for it.
Human Rogue, Halflord Sunders here to assit you in your journey. Quiet and thoughtful always like to preform on the street. He is loyal but very sly. When he talks he either has information to share or a joke to crack.
Hello, I have an elf rogue that I can run through your adventure if you will accept me.
Griffin Reyneau i’ve lost too many friends, and I’m slow to make new ones. I’m full of inspiring and cautionary tales from my military experience relevant to almost every combat situation. Ideals: indendence. When people follow orders blindly, they embrace a kind of tyranny. Bonds: I would still lay down my life for the people I serve with. Flaws: I’d rather eat my armor than admit when I’m wrong.
Character's name: Ashtari Kingsear Race: Elf (female) Class: Wizard Background: Sage Personality Traits: I use polysyllabic words that convey the impression of great erudition. I’m willing to listen to every side of an argument before I make my own judgment. Ideals: Self-Improvement. The goal of a life of study is the betterment of oneself. (Any) Bonds: I have an ancient text that holds terrible secrets that must not fall into the wrong hands. Flaws: Unlocking an ancient mystery is worth the price of a civilization.
Personality Traits:I am always calm, no matter what the situation. I never raise my voice or let my emotions control me. I always have a plan for what to do when things go wrong.
Xantus Xandus Xalandos, also known as XaXaXa, Triple X, Mr. X or just Xantus, is an elven Wizard. He comes from a now fallen noble house, though has trouble accepting the new reality. Therefore, despite the change of status he still remains conceited. He keeps believing himself to be better than the common people. That said, he isn't overbearing and tries to be polite if possible, though sometimes doens't realize when other people don't see it that way.
After you have done that, you should have your background, personality traits, ideal, bond, and flaw figured out. This is how I know you have a character sheet completely filled out and you should have some idea of how to play out your character as you interest with others (not just rolling dice). Your background also impacts your skill proficiencies.

War has been my life for as long as I care to remember. I trained as a youth, studied the use of weapons and armor, learned basic survival techniques, including how to stay alive on the battlefield. My specialty was the quick and silent kill. The goal was to cut off the head of the snake before it knew you were there. I had risen to the rank of captain of a special hit squad before we were betrayed by one of our own. Seeing my friends die for the greed of one of group has damaged me inside. I have worked as a mercenary as of late but now would like to further my skills and make a reputation for myself.

There seems to be some confusion about what I asked for in the initial post. Let me give a good example, and let a couple of you edit your requests.
Name: really cool name here
Race: human, elf, dwarf, or halfling
Class: fighter, cleric, rogue, or wizard
Background: (chapter 4 of basic rules http://media.wizards.com/2016/downloads/DND/PlayerBasicRulesV03.pdf ) acolyte, criminal, folk hero, noble, sage, soldier
Personality trait (choose or roll 1-2 from background)
Ideal (choose or roll 1 from background)
Bond (choose or roll 1 from background)
Flaw (choose or roll 1 from background)
I highly recommend building your character using the DnD Beyond character builder that can hold your hand as you choose options.
