Leaving the Drunken Morkoth Inn (#14) Tyris take you to High St. and then down to Middle Trumpet St. to Lava Avenue. You follow Lava until you reach Lantern Street.
The Orphanage (#18) rests on the corner of Lantern Street and Lava Avenue, its charcoal-colored stones held together mold-encrusted mortar. The windows on both stories arw tightly shuttered, but a few slivers of light manage to escape from within. Lanterns hang on either side of the oaken front door, mounted to which is a green copper knocker shaped like a smiling gargoyle's visage, it's nostrils pierced by a copper ring.
An elderly halfling woman opens the door, when she sees Tyris she says "Well yound man about time you can to see me, you don't come be often enough. " Seeing the other 4 people behind you she asks "Who did you bring to my door, not more trouble I hope." under her breath she mutters "I don't think I can handle much more at my age"
Tyris smiles at the old halfling. "It's good to see you too headmistress." His smile turns into a grimace. "We came across Rufus under attack in an alley last night, being warned away from the orphanage. We heard children have gone missing, and want to help."
"No not good hearted Ruphus, why he was just here last night, he must have been on his way home. I'm Gretchyn" she tells the other party members, as she leads you into the dimly lit ground floor of the orphanage. She shows you all the layout of the the orphanage. The ground floor containa main hall (with a staircase leading to the 2nd floor), a kitchen with stairs leading down to the cellar panrty, a dining hall, a playroom for the children, a school room, a small bathroom, and staff quarters.
The 2nd floor is divided into three rooms: a spacious bathroom with two large tubs and two large bedrooms filled with cots. One of the bedrooms currently holds 19 girls; the other room holds 31 boys
(Note: the pictures are fan/dm made and are not quite what the text says)
Gretchyn tells the party that there are 5 other staff members besides herself.
Jaromir Copperbeard, the gardener (99 year old male dwarf)
Neva Fanister, the Nurse (31 year old female human)
Temar Flagonstern, the cook (48 year old male human)
Willow Atherfell, the schoolteacher (54 year old female half-elf)
Patch, the janitor (23 year old male half orc)
"All of the staff members have worked here for several years and all are trustworthy. Patch and Tyris actally grew up together here. Patch was brought here about 20 years age and had suffered a lot of abuse, including the loss of his left eye. All the children love him! I can't imagine any of the staff having anything to do with the disappearance of the children. By the way one of the young boys had a bad dream that night about a evil gnome with crooked teeth and a tattered cloak. No one else seems to heard or seen anything."
"We had the town guard over here the day after they disappeared and yesterday a pair of half-elf investigators working for the Lord Mayor showed up. They didn't do much, just looked around and asked the same questions as the guards. They seemed somewhat suspicious so I took down there names in case they where not really working for the Lord Mayor. Their names are Fario Ellegoth and Fellian Shard"
"Thank you madam for your hospitality, i will do a check of the grounds if that is ok with you" Alben uses detect magic and checks the grounds for any magic, paying particular attention to the windows, doors, locks, and any sewer access points.
Along the way he uses a few small illusions to entertain the children.
"I'll take a look around and see what little I can find. I'll be within earshot." Laladak will do search of the grounds. He walks the perimeter and will SearchPerception8 for any sign of breaking in or trails leading away.
"Rufus is fine," Tyris tells Gretchen. "We got there in time to prevent the attackers from doing anything more than scare him. They appeared to be from the Last Laugh. The acting High Priest Jenya gave us a clue towards finding them. Unfortunately, it's in the form of a riddle from a magical mace, so we aren't entirely sure what it means yet. 'The locks are key to finding them. Look beyond the curtain, below the cauldron. Beware the doors with teeth. Descend into the malachite hold, where precious life is bought with gold. Half a dwarf binds them, but not for long.' Anything ring a bell? She suspected the locks might be the ones here at the orphanage. Perhaps some have been tampered with? Might be a place to start looking..."
Tyris will go inspect all the locks. Perception 18 (if it should be investigation instead, would be 2 less)
Alben searches the grounds for any magical tapering, but nothing pops out at him. As he performs a few illusions for the children, he gets a crowd of young ones ohing and awning at his impromptu show. As he creates his final stunning trick he see sunlight reflecting from the rooftops and see a figure watching him with a spyglass. As Alben notices him, the figure ducks out of sight.
Laladak doesn't see anything one his walk around the building.
Gretchyn tells Tyris in a slightly huffing voice "There is nothing wrong with my locks! Why Keygan Ghelve himself made those lock, and he is the best in the city, some say one of the best in the world, and he charged a pretty coin, let me tell you! And I have the only key!"
As you examine the locks you can find no evidence of tampering.
Shadows tells him companions that what she says about the locksmith is true, you would need to be an exceptional lockpick or have magical means to bypass without a key, though maybe he was coerced into making a second key...
Jenya then ask you if she can hire you to find the children. "The church will pay you 2,500 gp (the party not per person) upon the return of the children. Are you interested?"
She then gives each of you a potion of Cure Wounds lv 1 (1d8 + 5) for a reward for saving Ruphus. She asked you if anyone needs healing? And tells you that you can buy healing potions for 20% off here.
Cure Wounds lv 1 (1d8 + 5) 40gp (50gp)
Cure Wounds lv 2 (2d8 + 5) 240gp (300gp)
Cure Wounds lv 3 3d8 +56) 600gp (750gp)
Or any other divine potion if in stock up to 3rd level (any divide spell with a single target)
I noticed none of you 4 who help Ruphus put the gift potion on your character sheets. You can add it to other possessions or I can make a HB potion for you if you want, but I don't want to do that every time you buy a potion from St. Cuthbert's.
Also I forgot to mention that she says any time you need healing come to the temple and if it's within her power, she would be glad to help.

(Hadn't added it since there wasn't an actual itme for it. I went and added to my other possessions. Is there a reason to not just replace the potions of cure wounds with potions of healing? They give similar numbers - 2d4+2, 4d4+4 for the first couple levels of potions. Third one is 8d4+8. Is the 56 on your level 3 one a typo?)
Alben discretely tells Laladak "we are being watched from the rooftops. Don't draw attention, go get shadow and Tyris, see if they can find out who it is." Alben walks inside to find the other party members and tell them of the observer.
(about potions, i will do so when i get to my computer, doing this on my phone is clunky. Meant to do it saturday, but got really sick)
